Summary/disclaimer: Time for another chapter of Chao Cheer. Enjoy the 2000-word chapter. I don't own Sonic; Sega and a few others do.
Tikal found the Chao from before sitting on Master Emerald while glancing at the Echidna who could not at all resist finding them adorable and constantly wising to shower them with praise for now.
She wasn't going to be able to find it more curiously as to how it was going to be able to relax now. She heard a few footsteps behind her and to which she questioned what to do next.
"Oh, there he went." Tikal heard as she turned to see an Echidna. "I'm sorry, priestess, I'm just here to see Scorch." Tikal heard as she questioned what else to do.
There was a lot more upon his mind as Tikal watched the echidna step up towards the alter. They were a bright red, a VERY bright red, and yet they had jade color eyes which she saw the emerald reflected in their eyes. She noticed he had a tunic on his body which was common in his cloak which hide more than those features.
"Scorch, you here buddy?" He asked to which there was a chirp.
A crimson Chao which had very angelic-like wings and purple eyes slowly flew towards the echidna who had been silent as it made her confused.
He was oddly curious as to which it seemed to be. There were a lot more problematic ideas to which it seemed to have to question when push came to shove, all this did was divide them.
"Are you ok?" Tikal asked to which the boy nodded, utterly confused and thrown off by her words.
"Yeoh, why?" They asked before the Chao settled in his hands. "I like the little guys… The Chao, I mean. They're not entirely harmless, but they're so cute. Honestly? Scorch here has been sneaking off to try and find me… Every single time he gets into trouble." They stated as he shook his head before sighing to himself.
The Chao in his arms giggled which made the echidna roll his eyes, only too thrown off by all of this. He shook his head.
"I don't think you want to say that, you're a pain in the neck, little one." The Echidna said as he sighed before he questioned what else to do next.
"Scorch?" Tikal asked before the echidna turned to her, his head tilted to the side.
"Sorry, I was talking to him, Scorch here constantly sneaks off. he's a pain in the neck… I'm sorry, I didn't manage to introduce myself, did I? that's my fault, priestess." He said as Tikal held up her hands.
"Easy, I am not beyond any of our tribe simply because of my abilities… But no, you haven't. scorch seems very different for a Chao; I'm surprised anyone else can speak their language." Tikal stated to which the Echidna fell silent, utterly confused.
"My name is Quill." He said as he smiled. "And yes, it took me a while to try and find out what they say. Scorch has a very rude mouth at the moment, it takes them a while to try and get all the words right… Though I do not know how Scorch's mouth has come to hear these words." Quill said as Scorch hummed.
"Pato!" Scorch yelled before Quill silenced him.
"Do not insult the priestess, Scorch. You're living on the master emerald; she does not need to be so nice to let the alter be your home." Quill stated as he rolled his eyes. "I apologize for coming here without asking. Scorch always sneaks off unless I come to see him and I do not wish for him to stop your duties… That and he seems to want to tell me something I don't understand yet." Quill said as he sighed and looked down at Scorch.
Tikal only giggled and reached out a hand towards the creature as he patted it on the head. It made her laugh more as Scorch giggled and gripped her hand tightly as he tried to keep her limb from moving and denying it the warmth and amusement it had wished from Quill. Scorch sighed as he rolled his eyes and his clothing still restricted showing his other features.
Tikal wasn't going to be a lot more problematic than before. She learned a long time ago how childish the Chao could be around others and how little they seemed to matter at the moment.
Still? They were adorable, utterly adorable at the moment and it made her happier and happier to have them around for now. Tikal found it so very odd such a thing as an Echidna who did not desire war.
While she did not share such desires, she was privy to understanding them and her people did not favor those who did not fall in line as their culture did. War was as much a battleground as it was a school for them and the idea of a member of the tribe who did not enjoy war.
Well, they were… looked unfavorably upon by the rest of the tribe as someone who was either a traitor or a coward. Neither would look well upon their family which would increase pressure to be more and more the fearsome warrior the rest of the tribe wished them to be.
Perhaps it would simply be beyond measure and yet? Tikal rather enjoyed how peaceful Quill seemed to be. All of this would be something that she wished she could savor more and more as of now.
Quill would be a problem and yet not a problem to her but to the plans made by her father. Every warrior needed to play for now and would need to be as loyal as the last before her. It would not simply be a fraction of such an issue, but it would serve better than other issues that would cripple them over and over again. It would not do for now and perhaps it would not at all doo in general.
It was going tan be an odd little thing and a very big issue that needed to end sometime soon. It was clear more and more problems would need to end.
Quill looked at Tikal who had fallen silent, curious as to how it would end sometime soon. It was worth more and more issues with her father to see it end properly.
Scorch who had fallen silent was suddenly up and peppy again, leaping from Quill's arms onto Tikal's head as she looked at the small creature with interest for now. it'd need to end sooner or later as he turned around before suddenly screeching to himself.
Scorch was all too amused and looked at the two as Quill simply gave up trying to order the small little troublemaker to leave her alone. He sighed and finally pondered what to do next now. It'd be all too easy to see it end yet it kept happening.
"I'm sorry, he's not supposed to be that hyper for now and yet he seems to keep doing it anyway." Tikal heard as Quill looked around, fairly amused.
"It's fine, he's not causing any real issues nor doing anything that needed to be addressed," Tikal said as she plucked Scorch from her head and finally turned him over to look at the creature with interest. "You're ok, little one? I don't want you to think I'm mad at you. You will be ok, little one." Tikal said as she looked down at the creature.
Tikal was all too much of an enigma and was curious for now how it would have gone if the Chao did know. She was curious as to how it'd end before now and she looked around with hope.
"I heard the Chao can tap into some of the energy of the emeralds. It's not a lie, is it?" Tikal heard as she pondered it.
No, she supposed it wasn't like that at all and it'd not be anything like that. The Chao was honestly a magnificent species that needed to be protected at all costs. They were far too adorable for any harm to befall them at the end of the day.
Tikal was all too amused as she looked at Scorch before tapping his head and looking around the altar.
There were no real signs of anything for Scorch to stomach as she looked around, nuzzling it as if she was related by blood to it. The idea they had so much sentience for small little winged creatures was amazing not simply for her but for everyone involved around them now. it was nice to find some peace within.
Tikal watched as Quill slowly and yet surely fell silent, utterly befuddled for now and would remain such for a long time than it'd need to be. Perhaps it could all work out properly and with good timing on their part… Yes, very good timing on their part and it was all the better these problems would and could be sorted out with enough time and effort. It was worth it simply to get a smile from them at the end of the day.
It was a lot odder for now… A lot odder and yet it needed to be recalled more and more as time went on. it was a lot more to need to question as it was said and done. All Quinn seemed to grasp was the idea that someone was off and yet it was an off-brand topic that needed to be answered, it needed to be ended and it needed to die today for now.
All of it seemed to be worth more and more with such things coming down the wire. It had to end today and it would end sometime soon. This was worth more and worth it to try and protect such a thing. It was clear more and more whatever came next and yet it seemed to need to get it off now.
All the power and pain in the world would not save them… But Tikal was still happy as she removed Scorch before looking over the gem which seems to be glowing. All of this was confusing for her and yet it was so pretty in its way… Pretty in only the way, it could be traded for more power.
All of life could be traded for more power… All of it could be for her and yet it became clear NOTING was quiet nor subtle about it all… Nothing would remain that didn't need to which meant a lot would be cut entirely down to nothing at the end of the day. Such things were odd and yet she did not at all mind.
"Quill, you don't look like one of the regular tribesmen," Tikal stated to which Quill fell silent as now. "There's something wrong, isn't there?" Tikal asked to which Quill shook his head and looked around, all too familiar.
Quill rubbed at his arms and refused to meet her gaze. It was a problem that had arisen and she had risen to meet it, to see it come to heel. Tikal didn't know what killed him but she had an idea of what it may or may not be and that was a lot more disturbing than anything that may or may not come with the territory of such an issue.
Still? it was worth trying to deal with. All of the problems in the world could be dealt with and would be in due time. She waited for him to speak, curious as to the words that would arise if not for now… Arise into the sky.
"I'm from another tribe your father's tribe managed to catch," Quill stated as he looked around before Tikal looked down at the ground.
