My, my, my, but it has been quite some time since I started recounting the tales of the Octopath Travelers.
Feels as if weeks, mayhaps months, have passed in but the blink of an eye.
Ah, but it was only hours - time is a fickle thing.
For now, I wish to thank all of you who have stayed to listen to my tale from beginning to end.
Many lessons have been recounted through my retelling of the adventures and misadventures shared by the Octopath Travelers.
I could summarize and recount them all here, but, ah, I have already done so and believe that all of you have heard enough from these moralistic fables and half-truths.
While they were real, the Octopath Travelers have indeed passed into legend here in Orsterra.
Their journeys recounted and shared by many, but only a few are true.
And only mine share who they truly became.
For I knew them each individually and, will admit, guided them from time to time along the way.
All of us need a helping hand every now and then.
With but a nudge, a soft push, I did send Ophilia on her way to journey around Orsterra.
That was not by accident, nor was it on purpose.
It was but an old bard providing what he knew to a young woman hoping to fulfill her duty.
Fate is indeed fickle.
On that note, would you like to guess my real identity?
…
Ah, mayhaps I am.
That shall remain a secret between you and me.
But, I digress.
Once more, we have reached our end, experiencing the romance, the happy and sad times, and the family that is the Octopath Travelers.
It has been a tale worth telling and I do hope I have done it justice.
They deserve nothing but the greatest of storytelling.
From a humble bard to my audience I thank you all.
Now, I must depart for the time being.
…
Oh, but do not look at me so. We may have reached the end of our tale here, but there are many stories that need to be recounted.
After all, you have heard of the Octopath Travelers of Solistia.
Of the huntress, Ochette, who wished to seek out the legends of Solistia?
Of the apothecary, Cassti, who only sought to reclaim her past?
Of the cleric, Temenos, who journeyed to find the truth he sought?
Of the scholar, Osvald, who ventured for vengeance against those who did him wrong?
Of the merchant, Partitio, who asked only to share what wealth he made with those less fortunate?
Of the dancer, Agnea, who wanted to claim riches and fame for herself?
Of the thief, Throné, who claimed freedom from those wishing to oppress her?
Of the warrior, Hikari, who found peace by way of the allies he made outside of his land?
Yes, the Octopath Travelers are but an epitaph for those who ventured to achieve their own goals while fitting together in the never-ending puzzle that is fate.
Their journeys also see them travel afar and come together in many places.
But as I have said and suspected, all of you have already learned of their adventures.
Yet, what of their times together?
Their bonds, their misadventures, their time spent from tavern to tavern.
…
I suspected as much.
Then, my friends, come here, again, in due time, to this tavern.
And I shall recount their own time in between their journeys.
For, loose lips in the tavern never keep secrets; they only tell tales.
It is only farewell for now, but until then, do take care and remember the stories I have told all of you.
Thank you, and good night…
~Teller~
