Seriously, men can be dense and behave like children.
Lisa Snart had long since resolved the Flash's identity. She was dating Cisco for God's sake! Did her brother really think she wouldn't notice the cheerful, charismatic, boyish-looking boy, whose voice was identical to the Flash's, whose runner body could be identified with the Flash's, not to mention all the interactions that had Barry Allen and her brother had and all the interactions the Flash and Captain Cold had? Sometimes her brother could be a bit obtuse! To think that she, who had had to grow up paying attention to details, could ignore that! Although Lisa would have to confess that she never in her life would have imagined the Time Wizard and Flash dating. She always believed that he liked her brother! She had apparently misread the situation.
But here was Lisa. In Jitters! Having a cold Flash coffee with ice. Lisa smiled at the irony. She was waiting for Barry Allen, knowing that this was his favorite cafe and that he went there at least once a day. Someone had to give him "the talk" if he was going out with one of the rogues. She normally wouldn't do it, but Mark had been down lately, because of his latest conquests, if Flash or Barry Allen broke his heart, Mark would hardly be able to resurface from his depression. And Mark was like her brother and if anyone messed with Len, Lisa would turn him into gold. Lisa liked Barry and was amused at his encounters with the Flash, so it was good to give him a heads up.
So when she saw him, she called out his name, knowing that everyone would look at them. She could see Barry blushing at her, clearly embarrassed addressing him, but that had been her intention all along. Lisa was smiling mischievously.
"From the little act you and Mark put on yesterday, I guess he already knows what you think you're hiding," Lisa said.
- I don't know what you mean.-Barry said, clearly nervous.
- Oh honey! Don't play that game with me. I have known for a long time. Mark clearly behaved that way because he was hurt that he hadn't figured it out himself.
Barry was instantly depressed, his posture hunched, behind him was the confident and cheerful boy who had entered the cafeteria. He now he looked defeated.
- I didn't think he would give me the opportunity of a date if I told him.-Barry said immediately capturing Lisa's attention with those words.-As popular as the Flash is, not everyone would agree with dating a superhero, it entails lots of responsibilities and constant worry, even more so if it's one of his villains he's dating. I intended to tell him eventually, if things worked out.
"You really like him, don't you?" asked Lisa insightfully. Barry instantly flushed.
"I mentioned it to Len a couple of times," Barry confirmed. "But the two times I did, Mardon was dating someone, so I stopped asking."
"Yes, he was dating two idiots who broke his heart." Lisa confirmed. "And apparently you became the third one."
- I'm sorry.-Barry said immediately.-You don't have to change the city because of me, you don't have to change anything in the Flash's relationship with the Rogues because of me.
- Change the city?-Lisa was confused.-What are you talking about?
"Isn't Mardon moving in?" Barry was the one who was confused now. "He told me yesterday. He no longer wants anything to do with Flash or me."
That idiot! Lisa was going to have a serious talk with Mark when she got home. Leaving them all for a fight with his lover! And on top not tell them anything! What exactly did they mean to him? The rogues were a family! They couldn't be separated like this! But now, the main thing was to cheer Barry up.
-Look at me, Barry!-said Lisa.-Neither Mark nor you can continue in this situation! It's not healthy! Axel has been sad since yesterday, Jesse is furious and complains that he has not been able to sleep properly and the rest of the rogues are also affected. Since one of the two must be the mature one in the relationship, tell me: What do you plan to do about it?
"Give him his space?" Barry asked doubtfully.
-No!-said Lisa.-The sooner you talk to him, the sooner you can clear up all the misunderstanding. For better or for worse, the problems have to be solved as soon as possible or they will get worse.
- And what do you suggest then? Make a date with Mark and wait to see if he deigns to show up?
- It's a good start.-said Lisa triumphantly.-Take him a good Rivera. He goes crazy with that wine. It's his favorite!-Lisa paused where she dedicated herself to looking at him sternly.-You have Len's approval or he wouldn't have matched you, you also have Jesse's approval or he would have knocked you out for not letting him sleep yesterday...you also have the mine. Don't fail on this Barry Allen, Mark has been through a lot in his life, he doesn't need you to bring him down too. Do you understand me?
"Yes ma'am!" Barry said seriously. Lisa smiled.
- Well, now that everything is cleared up, I'll invite you to a coffee.-Lisa said happily.-And don't worry about that matter of Mardon wanting to leave Central City, it's just a tantrum, you'll see.
What Lisa didn't tell Barry was that she was contacting the rest of the rogues with a typing cell phone under the table. The rogues took care of their own until the end and they were not going to let a friend leave in such conditions. If Mardon wanted to leave, it would have to be a cool head, not a hot decision. Seeing Barry perk up at those words, Lisa knew that Len had been right to bring those two together. And Lisa would never say it, but she completely understood Barry's point of view. She was a criminal, not everyone accepted going out with her, either because of the responsibility they would have in that relationship or because of the weight she herself carried. And Mardon was just like her. She hoped that things between them would be resolved soon.
