Fubuki was furious at what Inichi told her on Tajima's injury discovery. She debated on waking up Mitsumi, but Inichi was able to calm her down. "Don't worry, my dear. Sweet Mask was able to control the situation. He truly does care about Tajima. This proves it. It actually reveals a side of him that is rarely seen. A true human core that is caring and nurturing. He even demanded for her to recline on a couch to let him treat her. He knew enough on what to do, and I did assist with gentle guidance on the more intense areas of need."
"Ugh!" Fubuki grimaced and shook her head. "Some people are so disgusting! I have to wonder how many other maids that asshole hurt!"
"And Daiki will find out tomorrow. He'll tell me the details after each meeting," Inichi agreed. "I do not want to stress out Lady Mitsumi with this. Fumihiro was her brother, after all. Nothing happened until after she fled the mansion. That was according to Tajima's testimony. It makes me wonder if he knew that the employees in the home were going to be let go. He likely figured that he could do anything he wanted and knew that none could say anything. Of course, as Tajima suspected, it was from the protection of political status."
"I can't sleep," she muttered and began to walk over to one of the windows to gaze at the nearly full moon. "I didn't plan on being at the assessment. And on hearing about all of this…it's just so…so…"
"I know," Inichi said and rested his small hands on her shoulders. He felt her tremble, and he bubbled her to set her gently in a chair. Her thoughts were in complete turmoil now, and he knew she was on the verge of tears from frustration. I need to change her thoughts. I think… "I have an idea."
"What?" she mumbled and shivered again.
"Date night," he grinned. "It's nearly a full moon. We need to see if the path to the Moon Blade is opening. What do you say?"
"Ah!" she gasped at the idea. That smashed out any thoughts of sadness.
"And we will take note of any places that look genuinely stunning at night to bring the others to," he winked a red eye at her. His black cat pupils watched her own green eyes light up at the possibility.
"Yes! Let's do that!" she said and rose up now. "Anything to keep my thoughts off of that other garbage. We need this, too, so let's do this."
"Here," Inichi said and brought a notepad and pen to her. "So you can jot down any coordinates we need."
"Okay," she smiled and blushed at the squeeze her gave her shoulders now. "Will I need my coat?"
"I would suggest one of the long ones. Just in case we come to a cold region," he agreed and watched her pick up the ultra-long, white furred cloak. "Oh. Your car will be here tomorrow."
"Ah…what?!" she gasped.
"Yes," he chuckled. "I asked Metal Knight to assist with a few features for me. For custom guidance and navigational needs. As well as automatic driving and such. Small things. Hmm. I shall request for a parking lot area. Maybe a tiered car garage with numbered parking spots. We'll work on it. Rendor will ask Tatsumaki for assistance later. I'm sure we can find an abandoned parking garage easily to set on our land."
"A custom car…!" she breathed and found herself blushing intensely.
"I believe you will be vastly impressed," he chuckled and lightly caressed her cheek before opening up the balcony window. "Shall we?"
While they were preparing for a night flight, Zombieman and Himiko were starting to settle in their top corner apartment room. He had just changed into a basic shirt and shorts set of grey coloring. She had just changed into a rather modest sleeping gown of a pretty light red coloring. She blinked at a phone call from Daiki and answered it. "Daiki? Is something up?"
"Fumihiro…if he wasn't dead, I'd be kicking his ass!" Daiki spat out.
"What?" she blinked.
"He was fucking around with the maids! Beating them! Raping them! Whipping them! I can't believe it…" he growled.
"WHAT?!" she gaped with shock. Zombieman now looked at her with concern from her outburst. "Why?! How long was this happening? I mean…I don't get it!"
"I was told it started after Mitsumi left us. I only just found out about this when Inichi told me. He found out when Sweet Mask was talking to Tajima. Sweet Mask asked her why she was nervous on talking about her time at the manor. She told him that Fumihiro did things to her. She showed him her back. She told him everything. Some of those marks were still infected after several months! And she even confessed that she couldn't just walk into a hospital because of our family status. And when she came back to work for us, those stupid girls threatened her! Sweet Mask demanded to treat her right away, so she is stable, but…just disgusting!
"Himiko, I'm going to need you with me tomorrow. I need to question all of the girls in our staff to see if Fumihiro fucked with any of them. You can help assure them that things will be fine. He's dead. He can't touch them anymore. Inichi wasn't looking for thoughts on this from all of the other crap he's had to keep track of. But we need to know how far the damage was done. If it's too bad, then he agreed that we may need to let the girls go. I don't want them working in a place that gives them bad memories. It's not fair to them," Daiki sighed hard.
"Yeah. And we don't need them exploiting such a thing against each other. Okay. I'll be there. I was planning to be there, anyways, so it's fine," she agreed and he disconnected the line. She trembled, set the phone down and pounded on the table. "That asshole!"
"What happened?" Zombieman asked and moved to hug her from behind. "Tell me."
"Fumihiro…he was abusing the girls. The servant girls. He did things to them. Terrible things!" she said and cringed when her tears started to fall. "We just found out that one was raped, beaten and whipped hard! Her back was still infected after several months!"
"Shit…" Zombieman muttered. "I mean…do we tell Mitsumi?"
"I…I don't know. If she's sleeping right now, I don't think it would be good to wake her up over this. She'll fret and other things. That would just piss off Saitama. Every time…I think…we're finally done with this…more just…!" she sighed hard and squeezed her eyes shut. "Is this a never ending bad dream? I don't know what to think anymore…"
He watched her calmly before gently turning her in his arms to hug her tight. He thought hard on everything before saying, "Himiko."
"Yes?" she mumbled.
"Will you marry me?"
"What?!" she looked at him with shock.
"I can't see myself with anyone else anymore. I can't. You've been through hell. I have, too. You're still going through it. I've told you everything about myself in confidence. I learned everything about you and witnessed it. I don't need any more proof about who you are. And every time I think that I can leave your side…I feel sick to my stomach. I can heal from any form of physical pain. But I can't heal from emotional pain. You help me with that," he said carefully.
"Zombieman…I mean…I don't know what to say…" she admitted.
"I understand what Saitama sees in Mitsumi now. Why he can't let her go. Granted…she went through things that would have destroyed anyone without a moment of thought. For two years. Her whole damned life. You were led around blindly and finally opened your eyes. I watched you wake up and realize what was going on," he said and squeezed her.
"I know it."
"I wasn't there for your initial rescue, but I was shown it through Inichi's visions. The way you were hanging there to get sliced up by blades…for two fucking days?! By your own mother?! And your own family didn't cut you down? I mean…yeah. Fumihiro was fucked in the head. I was told that Daiki had no idea and he was gone. Your dad was killed. Mitsumi had no clue until she found you. Your oldest sister's locked up and she had no idea. I know your mother was a monster. But she treated you all like cattle and Mitsumi like food," he said with complete disgust.
"I know. Daiki wanted me to leave with him, but…" she winced.
"Why didn't you go with him?"
"I didn't know…how bad it was…" she shivered. "I'd probably be like Fumihiro if it wasn't for Daiki's note to me. He warned me. Told me to be wary. To protect myself. He even called me the day before and begged me to run away. I just…thought he was being over-dramatic. That was until I realized…when I was caught and strung up. After I refused that 'gift'. Everything sunk in after that. I had no idea at all. I chose not to believe anyone."
Zombieman narrowed his eyes and sighed hard. "Marry me. Please."
"I can't…" she frowned and looked away.
"Why?"
"I mean…I only just met you. I can't work like that. I need a solid month. Even two months. I can't be like the others this way."
"Let me put a ring on your finger. We don't have to get married for three months. Hell, even a year. If that's what you want, then fine. But I need to make sure that no one else will attempt to try anything with you. I just want to protect you. This will help put my mind at ease even more. Fuck, Himiko! Even if it's promise rings like the others have…I just…I need to show that you are with me."
"Done this before?" she asked.
"Nope. First time."
"And you really can't think of leaving me?"
"I can't."
"I don't know…"
"Himiko, tell me this. Can you see yourself with anyone else?" he asked now and gazed into her dark brown eyes with his red ones. She shivered and shook her head at him now. "Then please. Marry me."
"I still need time."
"Marry. Me. I'm not gonna stop asking," he mused. "Or saying it. Or letting you leave my side without hearing you say 'yes'."
"Really?!" she asked with a look of amusement.
"Yep! And I can tell you another reason why."
"Okay. Why?"
"Because I'm in love with you."
"Ah…" she went fully speechless.
"I feel sick when I have to leave you alone now. Emotionally sick to my stomach. So, guess what? I'm not gonna go to that assessment if you have to interview a bunch of bullies. I'll be there as S class hero backup for you. I won't let you go through that shit alone. Heh. Once again, I see why Saitama does so much for Mitsumi. Why he won't let her do anything when it comes to confrontations of her past. He's done with her getting hurt. He only wants to see her happy. He even said that she deserved to be happy. And that's all I want for you now," Zombieman said softly.
"She…definitely had it worse than all of us…" Himiko swallowed.
"I know. And you got quite a bit of the short end of the stick, too," he agreed. "I'm gonna ask again. Himiko Takashi. Will you marry me?"
"You're really not going to stop asking. Are you?"
"You know how much of a stubborn asshole I can be," he grinned.
"Unfortunately, I do," she mused.
"So…?" he started.
"What?" she asked.
"Will you marry me?"
"I'll tell you tomorrow. Or next week, maybe…" she smirked.
"That's not fair…"
"Neither is life."
"You know…maybe we should take the next step in our relationship."
"What do you mean?"
"Let's ditch the clothes before bed."
"What?!"
"Yes. You heard me."
"No! That's just…no!"
"Why not?"
"We're not ready for that. It's way too soon for me."
"Is it?" he muttered and pressed a lusty kiss to her mouth. It left her completely breathless and stunned. "Surely you felt something…"
"I just…I mean…" she shivered.
"You love me, too. Don't you?" he asked and gently caressed her cheek.
"Zombieman…I…" she sighed and shook her head. "I do care about you. A lot. But I'm not at this stage yet."
"What will let me change your mind?" he asked and continued to hold her.
"I just need time. Please," she whispered and let him hold her.
"You don't love me."
"I never said that!"
"It's only obvious. I'll just have to do something more drastic to ensure that you'll love me."
"No! Don't be an idiot!"
"Maybe I have to be in order to know what's on your mind," he mused.
"Stop it."
"It's okay. I'll figure something out," he nodded. She gave him a look of disbelief before sighing and shaking her head. "So…will you marry me?"
"Really?!" she asked to get him grinning at her. "What do I have to say to make you stop?!"
"That you'll marry me," he said softly and gazed at her. "I don't care about your family fortune. That belongs to Mitsumi. I know she'll gladly take care of us. Give us funds. Whatever we need. I care about you, Himiko. Only you."
"Damn it, Zombieman!" she shivered and found herself pressing into him.
"You have to admit that no one else has ever treated you like this before. Right? Showed you any sort of care on this level?"
"You're right. It's different. I like it. A lot. But…well…" she sighed.
"Himiko," he whispered softly, kissed her forehead and cradled her. "Please. Marry me."
"We don't…have to right away…right?" she swallowed.
"No. I just want you to be safe. With me. To let others know they can't touch you. If you want a diamond ring, I'll get it for you. Plain gold band? No problem. I just need you to wear something that others will recognize to show you are going to be mine. And I will wear something for you to show I'm not single, either."
"And we don't have to move to another planet?" she asked with a wry smile.
"Only if you want to," he said with his own small grin back to get her laughing softly. "Of course, I won't say no to that at all. Ever. You say the word, we pick a planet and go."
"Of course," she chuckled with him. "Well…"
"Yes?" he asked with a raised brow.
"What was the question again?" she asked.
"Himiko…" Zombieman said slowly to see her struggle not to laugh. "Will you marry me?"
"I only have to answer once?"
"Yes."
"Can I take it back?"
"If I did something absolutely terrifying to you…maybe. But that will never happen. So…?"
"On a condition."
"What?"
"We keep our clothes on until such an event of possible marriage happens."
"That's…eh…" Zombieman paused. "We'll see how long that condition lasts. I'll do my best to keep to that condition. But if you start something, then that's all you. Until then…?"
"Yes. I'll marry you," she said softly and found herself kissed with a hungry form of joy. He lifted her up in his arms to carry her to the bed to set her down and recline next to her. She was able to snuggle into him now and watch the television with him. He actually found himself smiling at the whole thing.
In the apartment of Kamiko and Genos, he was busy trying to keep her calm. She was going through any other medical supplies to bring with her, and he finally had to pull her against his chest to calm her down. "Kamiko, what you sent was enough. We shall assess Tajima's injuries tomorrow when she is brought to the assessment. It can be harmful if we do too much."
"Genos…I'm just so pissed!" Kamiko said and grimaced.
"I am of the same mindset. However, we must not act unruly. I have learned through Master Saitama that such an act does not produce any good outcomes. We must evaluate and step in when we know we can. You stepped in with the current medical supplies sent. I am sure they have already been put to good use. We must let the healing start to see if there is anything more that can be done," he soothed gently.
"So much…none of us were told…" she sighed and covered her face in her hands. He only nodded and lifted her in his arms to sit with her in a chair. Then he chuckled. She looked at him curiously.
"Oh, just…realizing why Master Saitama holds Miss Mitsumi as he does. Does this not calm you?" he asked.
"It does…" she smiled softly.
"Now…I do have something important that I must discuss with you," he said and blinked his black eyes with glowing yellow pupils.
"I'm listening."
"Dr. Kuseno and I have been discussing much. He knows how I feel about you. How I am…accommodating things for you. There were small parts of my original body that he had kept frozen. In case something like this came about," he said carefully. She looked at him with complete surprise. "He may have a way to ensure you and I can have a child with my original genetic structure before I became a cyborg. If you want that?"
"Ah…!" she blinked at and looked away with a small blush. "He really is an intense genius…"
"That he is," Genos nodded.
"I mean…it doesn't have to be now, right?"
"No. But there would be a possibility."
"Maybe after we get married," she smiled. "I…think I'll be ready to be a mother for your child by then."
"Good. I shall inform Dr. Kuseno," he nodded.
"Oh. Did he want to try and move here?" she asked.
"He was…highly interested! Especially with the promise of limitless funds for his research needs. Including new ways to improve my body," he chuckled. "Ah. He wished to meet with Miss Mitsumi at some point to discuss some intricate details. I was thinking the day after tomorrow. I shall discuss this with her at some point when it is safe to do so."
"Okay," Kamiko sighed and yawned when exhaustion finally hit her. While they went to rest in their bed, Kamikaze and Tacki were going through their own small issues.
"How bad?" Kamikaze frowned.
"I need to eat something now," Tacki grimaced. "It always seems to be around this time. Before bed. This craving is just…ugh!"
"I'll go find something. Stay here," he said.
"No! I mean…I want to go with you," she said and moved to jump into his arms. "Please…"
"Okay," he nodded and let her snuggle into his shoulder. He walked outside with her and went straight to where Orotsu was still working in the outdoor kitchen. "Hey. Tacki's craving. Bad."
"Oh? What worked the best?" Orotsu asked. "I don't have the list I gave you before. Do you remember?"
"That takoyaki with the salty tuna. That did it. I just need one. Maybe two," Tacki nodded.
"Hmm. Genus and Armored Gorilla just left. Anno also retired with Takeda. I told Suiryu to rest while he had the chance. Ah. I still have the takoyaki grill here. Five minutes?" Orotsu said and was already getting to work. Kamikaze sat down with her in his lap and sighed.
"Master!" Iaian said when he darted over.
"Oh. Hey. I was wondering what happened to you," Kamikaze nodded.
"Yeah. I was, um…moving into a new place here. A small house of sorts was built for me. It works," Iaian nodded.
"Good. When it's done, let me know," he said.
"Also, ah, Spring Mustachio was hoping to move here, too. Since we are the last of our order…" Iaian started.
"That's up to Lady Mitsumi," Tacki said. "Saitama will also want to meet with him. Oh! Have him see us later tomorrow tonight at Neutral Grounds. We may do a karaoke night after the assessment. A late night event."
"Hmm. I may be able to show up, too," Iaian chuckled. "Okay. He may also bring Golden Ball. We'll see."
"That's fine," Kamikaze said and waved him off. The moment the takoyaki balls were brought over, Tacki had to start eating despite how hot they were. A plate of grilled eel was brought over for Kamikaze to have, and Orotsu began to prepare more deer meat to be taken over to Neutral Grounds.
"Darling?" Mitsumi asked and traced a finger over Saitama's chest from where they reclined in the treasure bed. Overgrown Rover yawned and looked over from where it was still watching the television next to them.
"Mmm? You're not sleeping yet?" he asked.
"Something feels weird," she admitted. "Like…something's wrong. With someone. I can't sleep at all. Whenever I feel this way, I have to figure out what it is before I can sleep."
"Hmm…" Saitama frowned and thought to Inichi. :Hey. Mitsumi can't sleep. Why?:
:Mr. Saitama? Ah. Fubuki and I are actually looking for clues to the Moon Blade temple right now. She was restless, too. But…I see…: Inichi sighed on sensing Mitsumi's thoughts. :I understand why she feels as she does.:
:What's going on?: Saitama asked.
:It was discovered that the young girl, Tajima, the one Sweet Mask agreed to take in…she was severely beaten, raped and whipped by Fumihiro before the servants were let go. Apparently, there were other girls that may have been abused by him. Daiki was going to question each girl during the day. Sweet Mask does plan to bring her to the assessment for Kamiko to look over, though. We were discussing even releasing the girls in question, but we'll get into that discussion tomorrow. Worry not.: Inichi said with a regretful grumble. Saitama gave a sensation of thanking him before cutting the connection and looking at Mitsumi.
"What is it?" she asked.
"Your younger brother. The one I killed. He was very. Very. Bad," Saitama said and tensed a bit. "I'm glad you got out of there when you did."
"What did he do?" she asked.
"The girl Sweet Mask said he'd take on. She was beaten. Other things, too…" Saitama sighed and glanced away. "Other girls may also have been beaten by him. We don't know for sure yet."
"What?!" Mitsumi gasped, but he held up a hand to calm her.
"He's dead. We're gonna see the girl tomorrow. We'll see how bad it was, okay? She was still walking and talking, so it couldn't have been that bad. Just the fact it happened at all is absolute crap. And he waited to pull this crap after you left. It makes me wonder why, but I'm glad he didn't pull that crap on you. He tried to stab you, anyways. And then he attacked us. So I killed him. We'll find out more tomorrow," he said.
"Where's your phone?" she grumbled.
"Doggy. Phone. Don't give it," Saitama said to have Overgrown Rover jump up and leap onto the phone to lay down on it. It was on one of the pillows in case it went off for emergencies.
"That's not fair! Puppy!" she pouted to hear it whine with apology.
"Inichi told me what happened. I don't want you to get involved right now. Even if you ask him, he won't tell you. He knows it will make things worse. He's not even here. He's with his girl looking for clues on the Moon Blade. We need to sleep," Saitama said and pulled her close to hold her. "As much as I wouldn't mind sleeping during the assessment, I'm sure I won't get the chance. We have six hours. We need to get some shut eye. And who were you gonna call at this time of the night?"
"I was going to call Sweet Mask to get the whole story," she said.
"No," he said and rolled with her to move her further away from the phone. "I think I know how to get you to sleep…"
"With puppy in the bed?" she asked.
"It won't care," he grinned and kissed her passionately. Overgrown Rover just yawned and stretched out over the phone to keep it secure until it was told to give it back over. It didn't mind anything going on in the slightest. The television was still on and had its full attention.
