Inside the Serpentine library, Lloyd is still searching for the Serpentine with Garmadon. "We came all this way looking for the Serpentine to help battle the Overlord, and there is literally no sign of them." Garmadon complained as they walked. "I believe this is what's called a 'total bust'."

Lloyd stops and turns to him. "Oh, thanks for rubbing it in." He said annoyed.

"The good news is, they would've only gotten in the way." Garmadon added as he walked closer to Lloyd. "We're better off without them."

"We need allies!" Lloyd yells, his power fading from his hand as he lowered his arm. "We can't do this alone!"

"That's the human side of you talking." Garmadon points at his son. "If you would embrace your Oni side, you would discover your full strength."

"My humanity is not weak! And relying on allies and having friends and love and having compassion for others, doesn't make you weak!"

"Having what now?" Garmadon asked, lowering his arms with his own power.

"It means caring! Of course you don't know what it means. You're incapable of compassion. Makes me wonder why I was even born in the first place! You have to have love for that!" Lloyd yells. "My son was born out of love that I have for his mother and via versa! But what do you know about love?"

"I know what caring means. And I am not incapable of it! I am learning how to have." Garmadon pauses for a moment. "'complassion.'"

Lloyd rolled his eyes. "Compassion!" He corrects, turning around to walk over to the chalkboard, picking up a piece of chalk. "And that's ridiculous. You can't learn how to care. You either care, or you don't." He said as he wrote on the chalkboard.

"Are you sure?"

"You're an Oni! The Oni are incapable of caring. All they do is destroy. So is it any wonder I don't want to embrace my Oni side?" Finishing his message, he turns to leave. "Let's go. I left a message for the Serpentine, but at this rate I doubt anyone will ever." He stops as they hear a crash. "Did you hear that? Maybe someone's still here. Come on!" He runs off, unknowingly that Garmadon is sadly leaving Christofern on a table, before following.

Finally making it to the harbor. William is sitting in a truck, facing Vengestone Guards. "Ok. Let's do this!" William straightens his shoulders and cracking his neck at the sometime, then leans out the driver window. "Remind me, does Vengestone sink or float!?" He calls, pressing his foot on the accelerator. "It's science time!" As the truck drives towards the pier, William jumps out, hitting the ground and rolling as the truck drives off the pier with the Vengestone Guards.

William pushes himself up. "Nya!" He quickly gets up to his feet. "Nya! It's ti."- He trails off as he turns to her, she looks really mopey as she looks down at the water. "Nya?" He walks over to her with a frown. "Are you ok?" He gently takes her arms and turns her around to face him. "What's wrong?"

"Will, my powers are barely there. I don't know if I can do this."

"Yes, you can." He encouraged. "I believe you can."

"What if I fail?"

"Then we try again to get it right." William continued to encourage her. "And." He pulls away. "How about this?" He reaches for one of his pouches. "Your brother is going to enjoy setting me on fire." He said as he patted himself down. "Where is it?" He muttered in a whisper to himself.

"Will?"

"Got it!" He smiled, pulling something out from a pouch. "Here we go." He turns to her. "Nya Smith." He starts, dropping to one knee, making her gasp. "Would you marry me?"

Nya smiles. "YES!" She throws her arms around his neck, and he spins her around. "Ok." She continues to smile, pulling away and he slides the ring on her finger. "We need to get a message to Benthomaar."

Nya walks over to the water, leaping onto a crate and places her hands in the sea, she closes her eyes to try and concentrate.

Somewhere in the city. Vinny's news van races through the streets. Vinny, and Cole screaming in fear as the news van dodged and twisted to avoid everything that was crystalized.

"I think we just broke a land speed record!" Cole exclaimed.

"I think you forgot to use the blinker on that turn." Vinny added weakly, clutching Cole's arm.

"You're the one who needs to get to NGTV Tower and send a distress call to some queen."

"Alive!" Cole exclaimed. "I need to send that message to Shintaro, alive!" He throws his arms out, his right hand hitting the window of the passenger door, and his left hand nearly hitting Vinny, who ducked. "To bring her flying army to Ninjago to fight the Overlord."

"Right! And I'm gonna do what it takes to get you there!"

"Yes, great!" Vinny cried. "But crashing and getting killed won't help us!" He said in fear. "So maybe if we could go just a little bit slower?" He screams when Blazey hits a group of Vengestone Guards. "Then again, fast is good!"

The news van continues to evade the attacks of the Vengestone Guards.

In the sewers, Lloyd searches for the source of the noise that he and Garmadon heard. "Hello!?" The Green Ninja calls out. "Is anyone here!?"

"I'm not sure it's a good idea to be shouting like that."

"I heard someone!"

"It could've been anything, like." Garmadon suddenly stops as the come up to three snakes. "Three infected Serpentine!"

Lloyd charges up his powers and shoots, followed by his father, Lloyd's powers doesn't do damage, but Garmadon's powers knocks one down.

"You know what?" Lloyd charges at the three and starts fighting them. "I'm actually glad we bumped into you goons, I've got some frustrations to work out!" He easily defeats the Hypnobrai. "Yeah … that felt good." His smiles fades as Garmadon yells, and he watches as Garmadon rushes at third one with a barrel. "Wait! Don't destroy him!" He watches as Garmadon traps the Serpentine inside the barrel. "Oh, I … I thought." Lloyd trails off.

"Why did you think I was going to destroy him?"

"Well, it's just … in the old days, destroying was sort of your whole thing."

"I suppose. But now it's like ... if I were in his position, I would want to ... not be destroyed? Or something? I don't know. Whatever." Garmadon turns around. "Let's go."

Lloyd smiled. "That might have actually been a moment of ... 'complassion.'"

In the city, Vinny's news van continues through the streets as it evades the Vengestone Guards. "There's too many of them! We won't make it!"

"I've still got some tricks up my sleeve." Blazey gives the van more gas, making Cole and Vinny scream in terror as the van flips over the guards, before landing back on all four ties. And they continue on towards the news station. "Ugh, gravity. What a drag. Now we just need to cross the river and ... uh oh."

"'Uh oh'?" Cole turns to her, clutching his seatbelt, while Vinny clutched his arm. "What does uh oh mean?" He asked as all three of them see the bridge is up. "You're not going to try to jump a completely vertical bridge, are you?"

"No, that would be nuts. That bridge isn't completely vertical. It's nearly vertical." She said, making both Cole and Vinny gulp. Blazey presses hard on the gas, the boys scream in terror as the van flies through the air, and makes it to the other side of the bridge, the dish on the van breaks off as they drive towards the news building and screeches to a spinning stop. "Welcome to the NGTV building, where the local time is four o'clock. I'd like to thank you all for using Blazey H. Speed Travel, and ask you to please take your belongings with you as you exit the vehicle."

Cole slowly unbuckles his seatbelt and with shaky hands reaches for the door handle, pushing open the door - he falls out, Vinny quickly fallows. Blazey frowns at them.

In the sewers. Lloyd and Garmadon continue their walk, Garmadon now being quiet for sometime.

"What's wrong?"

"Nothing."

"What?" Lloyd asked, stopping his walk and watching his father. "What is it?"

"I don't want to talk about it."

Lloyd quickly notes his father isn't carrying around the soda can with the fern. "Wait. Where's your pet plant?" The blonde asks.

"I got rid of it." His father answered simple as he stopped walking.

"What'd you do that?" Lloyd asked, walking up to his father.

"Why not? You can't learn how to care, remember?" Garmadon turns around to face Lloyd. "You either feel something, or you don't. Tell me Lloyd. Does your son have a pet?

"No." Lloyd shook his head. "He's still a baby, still young." He walked up to his father's side. "Ok. I shouldn't had said what I said. I was … I was wrong, ok?"

"You are most confusing." Garmadon sighs. "So … you think it maybe possible for an Oni to learn to care?"

"I don't know. Maybe? You clearly care about that plant, I ... I guess I was just feeling ... a little." Lloyd trails off as he turns.

"What?"

"Nothing." Lloyd shook his head. "Just come on. Let's go get him." He starts to head back for Christofern.

Now on top of the roof of the NGTV building, Vinny is holding a camera at the ready. "We're transmitting. Camera rolling in 3, 2, 1."

"Queen Vania, it's me. Cole. You told me once if I ever needed help, you'd bring the entire army of Shintaro to my aid. I think you meant it metaphorically, but that's actually what I need. Literally. The entire army of Shintaro."

Blazey comes into the camera. "Tell her about the Overlord!" Looking at the camera, she quickly takes a step backwards.

"The Overlord is attacking Ninjago City!" Cole gestures to behind him, and Vinny moves the camera to show the Dragonide flying around and the crystalized buildings. "With a whole bunch of bad guys! Including your father!"

"Look out!" Blazey cried, tackling Cole as the three are attacked by Dragonides, who destroy the communication tower.

The three barely manage to escape, quickly climbing down the fire escape.

"The message!" Cole gasped, turning to Vinny. "Did it transmit?"

"I - I don't think so."

Inside the newspaper warehouse. Kai is teaching the teens the basics of karate, while Skylor stood at the front.

Nearby, Wu is holding the radio mic. "Ninja, report in. Were you able to send out the distress calls?" He asks as Lily walks up to him.

"I tried, Master Wu." Nya's voice came in, sounding defeated. "But I'm not sure my signal was strong enough to reach Merlopia."

"I left a message for the Serpentine." Lloyd's voice came next. "But the only ones we found were infected. They're all gone."

"Our mission was just as useless." Cole's voice came next. "We recorded a message to Vania, but some of those flying creatures showed up and — and ... anyway, the message didn't transmit. Sorry."

Lily leaned on Wu's arm. "The important thing is, is that we tried." She tried to sound strong. "And, and now we just have to do is pray that some of it makes it out."

Wu wraps his arm around her shoulders. "Until then, we can't count on anyone coming to our aid. I need all of you back here at once. We're going to have to find another way to save our city." He places the mic down and walks away dejectedly, the mic slid off the table and swung a little as it sounded like it was picking up a frequency.

Walking outside, Wu looks up at the Oni Temple. "If there is another way."
