CHAPTER 5
(SOOKIE'S P.O.V)
I yawned as I turned the page to the novel I was reading. I glanced at the clock on the living room wall. 'It's 11pm time to call it a night.' I thought to myself closing the novel. Suddenly I heard a car pull into my driveway. I frowned, wondering to myself who could that be, as I peeped through my windows. I was surprised to see Lafayette and Tara stepping out of Mario's 1957 chevrolet. I was even further surprised as I noticed to my right, Mario riding a white unicorn that descended from the trees, as the creature galloped to the back of my house. I rubbed my eyes and sighed, thinking that what I just saw had to be some sort of hallucination due to being sleepy. I opened my back door to meet all four of them, including the unicorn awaiting my presence.
"Sookie Stackhouse I am honored to meet you," the unicorn said to me as it walked forward to greet me. I smiled welcomingly, as I walked down the steps barefooted in my pink fitted nightgown and closed the distance between us. "Hello to you too," I said gently patted it on his head. "I don't believe we've met before. What's your name?." "My name is Bartholomew and I am an ally to the faes." The unicorn explained. "Sookie your own kin folks are in trouble. Claudine sent me on her behalf, since she and the others are fighting a war." "A war?!," I echoed in worry. "Is she okay?, when can I see her?." I questioned in a panic. "She's fine for now," Bartholomew assured me. "Sookie the faes are fighting another ancient supernatural enemy. They need you to help them win the war."
"What can I do?," I responded suddenly feeling helpless. "I'm not even full faeā¦" "There is something that you can do. Here in Bon Temp is buried a silver dagger that is an enchanted object that can help your fellow fae kin win the war. Find out all you can about it, and help me find it, your fellow kin are counting on you" "Ok," I agreed. "I'll help you." "Do you have a jar of some sort?," Bartholomew suddenly asked. "I promised your friend Tara some of my healing water from my horn." I quickly went inside and brought a large container, as I watched the unicorn empty its clear liquid into the container. As I watched, my mind raced with questions, and worried thoughts. I didn't even know where to begin looking for this enchanted dagger. However I reminded myself my own kind was in trouble, and the least I could do was make an honest attempt.
(ADILYN BELLEFLEUR'S P.O.V)
I lay in bed unable to sleep. All my sisters were out partying, since it was the summer holidays. I, on the other hand, didn't want to spend every waking moment partying. Don't get me wrong, I liked partying, but not as much as my other sisters. Which is why I was at home alone with Mom downstairs. Without warning I heard our dog Buddy began barking incessantly. After fifteen minutes of his barking, I peeped out to see what was causing him to be so riled up. I looked down since my bedroom was on the top floor, to see Buddy digging a large hole in the ground, as he continued to bark. I hurriedly got out of bed and hurried downstairs, to stop Buddy, before he woke up the entire neighborhood. I burst through the front door, as a shower of rain falls suddenly. "Buddy what are you doing boy?," I asked him as he stopped. I stared down at the large hole in the ground. "What in the world," I said aloud to myself in surprise, as a silver dagger stared back at me. I quickly pull it out of the wet dirt and stare at it in confusion. "Come on Buddy," I called my golden retriever. We quickly headed inside, since the rain had completely soaked us. "Adilyn why are you and Buddy soaked?," my mom Holly asked in confusion. "Do you know what time it is?. It's midnight and both of you could catch a cold!."
Mom scolded me. "Sorry Mom," I apologized. "I went for Buddy, since he was digging and barking in the yard, as a result of Buddy's digging I found this." I handed the silver dagger to Mom.
She frowned as she flipped it around inspecting it. "Do you know what it is?," I asked after a moment of silence. "It's a silver dagger, other than that I wouldn't know, as to why it was buried. You know what?." Mom turned to me resting the dagger on the coffee table. "Tomorrow I'll figure it out. It's late and I'm tired. I'm sure you are too. I'll towel Buddy off, and you get changed before you catch a cold."
