Once Jane fell asleep, Shepard took his laptop to the com room, far too wired ā not to mention irate ā for sleep. Initially, he intended to delve into the Cerberus archive, hoping to learn what drugs Datmar used on Jane, any long term effects, etc. However, the only thing his search turned up was a grisly video of his sister, as a young girl, strapped to a table and cut up in some bizarre ritual. He could only stomach a glimpse, just long enough to see that whatever she was injected with wasn't labeled. The terror in her eyes, how she cried so quietly that the microphone didn't pick up a sound. Now he couldn't get it out of his head. So much for sleep.
John Shepard Omni-Activity
John Shepard: Miranda, I need you to encrypt then erase all my computer activity for the last 24 hours along with the rest of the night.
LawBringerSR2: What exactly for?
JS: It pertains to my sister.
LB: Fine.
JS: Also, can EDI access the batarian extranet? I think it's called ZemniNet? I've never been able to get into it before.
LB: It can do just about anything, but I never tried that.
LB: The request for a shuttle pilot came through by the way. Let's just say it's obvious the Illusive Man is unhappy with our withdrawal from Ferris Fields.
JS: Oh?
LB: His name is Steve Cortez, and apparently, he lost his husband during the attack. Have fun with that.
JS: That's⦠concerning. I won't bring an unstable element into combat situations.
LB: Take it up with the Illusive Man.
JS: Can I just say how weird it is that you call him that? Does he have a name or a title? He sounds like something out of a comic book.
LB: I wouldn't tell him that.
JS: Alright, well, I'll deal with that later.

Article: Four for Two Continues Protests Over Barbarous Brothel Conditions
[New tab] (Sub Search in Cerberus Database) Four for Two
Definition: Activist Group for the Humane Treatment of Two-Eyes. Known for being the only tolerated push-back against Hegemony slave policy. STG reports suggest that this is another way to placate the population, leading civilians to believe they have some agency within their government. When, in reality, the organization is only allowed to flourish as it is in the Hegemony's best interest. Four for Two is openly mocked, ridiculed, and made the butt of numerous Hegemony-produced sitcoms. They are also known for euthanizing non-batarian intelligent life. Their official statement claims that liberation through death is all they can offer.

One of the most prominent Two-Eyed brothels, Dhay'Groppnah, was subject to a brutal massacre. On March 14 2177, a missile hit the establishment, shattering windows as far as four blocks away. Officials released a statement declaring an alien terrorist plot, with Four for Two sympathies, responsible. The Hegemony pledges to find and root out this pestilence.

Internal Hegemony report: Dhay'Groppnah Bombings (CLASSIFIED)
Four bombs were detonated in downtown Prathan on March 14 2177, killing 12 guards, 19 civilians, and 24 slaves. The establishment's owner, Okerag Vindusen, was among the dead. Two witnesses, who survived the skirmish, insisted that a human female emerged from the chaos with six other two-eyes (asari) and a human child. One witness claims the female human had a knife, the other a gun.
CCTV footage reveals that this human was skilled with a knife. Three guards, who were spared the explosion, attempted to intervene ā the perpetrator attacked, exploiting a weakness in their armor where the head and neck attach. All three guards murdered in this manner had severed brain stems, ensuring they were immediately incapacitated.
Investigation into the bombs revealed that there were 4 total. Three were biotic in origin, while one was derived from a car battery. On learning this, the surrounding area was evacuated pending the radiological clean up crew's report.
This coordinated, and significantly evolved, attack suggests a military background. It is unclear whether or not the human female was the source of the biotics, or if she acquired outside help in planning the escape. Priority one is locating this dangerous individual. Task force Auroa is assigned.

"Shepard? Shepard you there?"
It took him a moment to return to himself, to wrangle his mind from the far reaches of Kar'Shan, the brutality his sister endured, and the lengths she went to to protect that child. A child that could be in jeopardy thanks to the Collectors.
"Yeah." He cleared a bit of sediment from his throat. "Yeah, I'm here."
"I've got a mission for you. It's big."
