Chapter 47: Scotland, Day Two
The next day, Drew and Michelle woke up to the alarm on Drew's phone.
Michelle was the first to wake from her peaceful slumber in Drew's strong arms, followed by Drew.
"Good morning," Michelle said.
"Good morning, darling," Drew said as he kissed Michelle. "How was your sleep?"
"Like a baby, especially when I'm in your home country."
"So I figured we have breakfast first and then show you more around Scotland and maybe have a picnic near Brig O' Doon."
"Where is that?"
"It's a bridge in Ayrshire."
"Ooh, I'd like that."
"Just wait until we see where else I am going to take you. I think you will love it."
"Well, I'm loving what Scotland has provided so far, I know I'm going love more."
Then Drew smiled as Michelle wrapped her arms around Drew as the two shared a passionate morning kiss.
After freshening up and enjoying a nice breakfast out on the balcony, Drew was showing Michelle the Greenen and Dunure Castles. Drew knew how much Michelle a Disney fanatic was and thought showing her the castles would make their trip even special.
After that, Drew and Michelle looked around the Burns Museum and Michelle learned so much about Robert Burns and Drew even recited a romantic poem to Michelle that made her feel even more special.
Then as Drew promised, he took Michelle to the Brig O' Doon bridge where they were having their picnic. The two spotted a nice grassy spot near the bridge as they set up their picnic.
"This is beautiful," Michelle swooned as she and Drew sat down on the blanket. "I am totally in love with Scotland. I never knew how beautiful your home country is."
"Well, I hope you love the food I provided for our picnic," Drew said as he brought sone takeout boxes. "I wanted to bring these Scottish dishes along for you to have a taste. This here is haggis; it's pudding containing sheep's heart, liver, and lungs, minced with onion, oatmeal, suet, spices, and salt, mixed with stock."
"Excuse me? This has sheep's organs with oatmeal? No thanks."
"Come on! Just one little taste."
"I swear, if I end up getting sick in Scotland, I will never forgive you."
Then Drew gave Michelle a spoon as she took a bite of haggis before she winced in disgust and Drew laughed at her.
"That is not funny!" Michelle said as she swallowed.
"I'm sorry, Shelley," Drew apologized as he continued to laugh. "I had a feeling you wouldn't like it."
"You damn right I don't like it!"
"Okay, maybe this one you'll like: fish and chips."
"Oh, thank you. This is way better than haggis."
"And our Scottish soft drink, Iron-Bru."
"What is this?"
"It's soda, like Coca-Cola."
"Well then, cheers to Scotland."
"Sláinte!"
After an hour of enjoying a romantic picnic near the Brig O' Doon bridge, Drew and Michelle went downtown as the two were holding hands walking down the street.
"Here we are," Drew said.
Drew and Michelle stopped at a newspaper building and it had two names at the front of the building.
"Angela Galloway," Michelle read on the building.
And then it hit her: that was the name of Drew's late mother.
"Drew, that is your mother's name," Michelle said as Drew nodded his head. "Did your mom work at this place?"
"Yes, she did," Drew responded.
And then Michelle walked up to Drew as she noticed the look on his face.
"You want to talk about it?" Michelle asked.
"My mom had cancer and she was also in a wheelchair as a result cerebellar ataxia," Drew remembered. "She did chemotherapy but her health started to decline but the long-term prognosis was not good. It was tough as hell for me and my family. It drove me crazy and I remember her telling me, 'Don't you dare come over. You stay there and keep chasing your dream.' That day, we locked eyes, she was unable to talk but I said what I felt about her and I said I loved her and I saw she was upset at not being able to respond. And then she was gone. It fucking sucked."
Michelle felt like she was kicked in the stomach after hearing what happened to Drew's mother. She started getting emotional but composed herself as she held Drew's hands.
"Did you know that my grandmother passed away a month after your mom did?" Michelle said. "She died of cancer as well. It was devastating to my mom and to me because she was the reason I'm the woman I am today. I'm so sorry I hear about your mom Angela. I know for a fact she is proud of you of the man you are today."
"Thank you for listening to me," Drew assured.
"Always and thank you for telling me. I've said it from day one that I will always support you and I will always be here for you."
Then Michelle wrapped her arms around as Drew engulfed her in a warm embrace. He was sure he had found the one.
Later that day, Drew, Michelle and his family arrived at The Barrowland Ballroom where ICW was held. Michelle was able to see where Drew wrestled before he returned to the WWE.
After Drew lead his family to sit in their seats, he took Michelle backstage to meet his friends and former co-workers.
"Drew!" Jack Jester hollered as he approached Drew and Michelle.
"Jester!" Drew smiled as he and Jack hugged each other.
"It's good to see you, mate."
"It's good to see you too."
"How's the bicep treating you?"
"Well, I had a little scare because it's starting to shrink but I'm going to get back to size to some point."
"Better get to it or the guys might rag on you."
"In your dreams. This is my girlfriend, Michelle Edmonson. Michelle, this is Jack Jester."
"It's nice to meet you," Michelle said as she shook Jack's hand.
"Nice to finally meet you," Jack replied. "Drew has told me all about you."
"Has he?"
"Don't worry, lass. There were all good things, I promise."
"I hope so because I've heard some interesting stories about you."
"And which ones would those be?"
"Oh…..just some I don't want to reveal for the sake of Drew's induction into the ICW Hall of Fame tonight."
Michelle giggled as Jack shook his head.
"Where did you find her?" Jack wheeled to Drew.
"It was more like she found me." Drew answered.
"Hey, Drew!" Adrian "Lionheart" McCallum shouted as he approached the group
"Hey, mate!" Drew smiled as he and Adrian hugged each other.
"You finally made it; it's going to be a wild night for you. And who is the beautiful lass here?"
"This is Michelle Edmondson. Michelle, this is Adrian, also known as Lionheart."
"Nice to finally meet you. Big man here hasn't stopped talking about you.
"Well, I've heard he already bragged to Jack about me so I hopefully Drew said the same things to you," Michelle bragged.
"Don't worry, lass; Drew said how amazing you were and I've seen your matches. You're incredible."
"All in a day's work."
"And if he gives you any trouble, you know where to find me."
"Bugger off," Drew sneered.
After talking with Jack and Adrian for a few minutes, Drew was introducing Michelle to Bram, Big Damo, Grado, Wolfgang, Red Lightning, Kay Lee Ray, who Michelle remembered competing in the Mae Young Classic, and Sha Samuels.
Then the two approached Mark Dallas, who was the founder of ICW, and Drew patted him on the shoulder
"Drew!" Mark smiled as he and Drew hugged each other. "The man of the hour is finally here."
"It's good to see you, mate."
"You look better, not much worse for the wear."
"Well, I'm not one to take time off because of injury, but it's needed. This is my girlfriend, Michelle Edmondson. Michelle, this is Mark Dallas."
"Nice to meet you."
"You too," Michelle said.
"I hope big man here isn't causing trouble for you."
"No, he is on his best behavior."
"Well, I could tell you about the time Drew fought Noam Dar and tried to kill him by throwing him off of a balcony."
"Really? You threw Noam Dar off the balcony? Did he die?"
"No, he didn't die. I promise," Drew assured Michelle.
"Am I dating an attempted murderer? Just curious."
"Well, if you had saw some of his matches and promos, you might wonder," Mark teased.
"I have and maybe I should keep an eye out. But in all serious, I'm really looking forward to Drew's Hall of Fame Induction tonight. I can see he has made a huge difference in the wrestling scene here in Scotland."
"Well, big man made it happen for me. He deserves it."
"Ah, stop," Drew blushed.
"Well, I better prepared for the show. Michelle, it was very nice to meet you, lass."
"You too," Michelle said.
"I'll see you later, mate."
"See ya," Drew said as Mark walked away.
Then Drew and Michelle stuck around backstage before ICW started.
Towards the end of the show, Michelle was backstage as Drew was coming out of the dressing room wearing a suit and kilt that really got Michelle flustered because she had never seen Drew wear a kilt in person until now.
"Wow," Michelle swooned. "You…look…so handsome. I mean, you can really rock a suit and a kilt at the same time."
"Thank you," Drew said. "I thought it was fitting to wear something like this for a special occasion."
"Well, you picked the perfect occasion for it. So, are you ready?"
"Ready as I'll ever be."
Then Drew and Michelle walked arm-in-arm as Drew's Hall of Fame induction was approaching.
The segment was full of laughs with Drew, Sha Samuels and Jack Jester getting into a group hug after a "disagreement" between Jack and Sha. Then there was a moment that had Michelle laughing.
"This is WWE now," Mark Dallas reminded Drew. "You can't swear!"
The crowd chanted, "Go! Go! Go!" before Drew responded with…
"Fuck you!"
Michelle was cracking up because even she cusses like a sailor more than Drew does.
Then Drew went onto his speech talking about his injuries, how he and friends started ICW that grew & grew and how he traveled across the world before returning to WWE where he would start all over again. He also made a promise to become the first ever British WWE World Champion.
After ICW was over, Drew, Michelle, his family and friends had a celebration at the Hard Rock Café in Glasgow.
Michelle mingled with everyone as she noticed Drew having a good time with everyone. She was happy that Drew was happy and it seemed his time away from NXT and his bicep injury didn't dampen his spirits. As Michelle was in her world, Andy approached her.
"Drew looks so happy," Andy said as he smiled. "I have never seen him so happy like this before. He's been in a funk since he got released from WWE, but I'm glad he was able to rebuild himself and got a second chance."
"He deserves a second chance and I can see things moving up for him."
"I don't think I ever got a chance to thank you for making my son happy."
"You don't have to thank me; I made a promise to support Drew and be there for him. I know that he has been through so much and I want to be there for him no matter what."
"You know, I thought that after his divorce, he wouldn't find love again…until you came along. I mean, when Drew first talked about you, I could hear the happiness in his voice. I could see that the last few months really lifted his spirits when you came into his life."
"Well, that pretty much happened to me when I broke up with my ex. I was so busy with school and achieving my dream that I hadn't thought much about dating. That was before I met Drew; he has made me happy as well. And I'm also happy that you got a second chance at love as well, now that you're getting married in a couple of days. Angela would want that for you."
"Angela would've loved you, you know."
"Well, I have a part of her that I have right here."
Michelle was referring to the ring that Drew gave her for Christmas.
"That ring looks lovely on you," Andy complimented Michelle. "That means you hold a special place in Drew's heart. Well, I better get back before Jane knows where I am."
Michelle giggled as Andy walked away; then Michelle had her focus back on Drew as she walked towards him. She put her hand on his shoulder as Drew turned his head and Michelle kissed him with love.
"What was that for?" Drew asked.
"Nothing," Michelle said, "just to show how much I love you."
Then Drew wrapped his arm around Michelle as he held onto her not wanting to let her go.
