Rockland Wonderland: Kim Mitchell
Ferb sat backstage tuning his guitar. Phineas was checking the amps, he knew Ferb would tune up his guitar after a moment. Buford was shifting the drum set onto the stage.
This was the battle of the bands.
"You're gonna kill it out there!" Phineas yelled over the group currently on stage. Ferb nodded his appreciation.
Danville High's large gym was packed with students enjoying the lunchtime concert. A number of students had formed groups and were scheduled to play at some point over the next week.
Isabella sat with her girls, "Phineas is going to be up there signing next. He said that they were the third act today." Ginger nodded, "I hope we're not up against them in the finals." Isabella grinned, "It wouldn't matter. It's just for fun, besides girls vs guys? That's not so bad, is it?"
The group on stage finished their song and the audience applauded. The lights around the stage were dimmed and the silhouettes of Ferb and Phineas were barely visible moving a synthesizer onto the stage. Ferb was seen putting a headset on and trying a few chords on the synth before unplugging the headset and motioning to the History teacher who was introducing the groups that they were ready.
Mr. Taylor took the mic. "Thank you. Now Danville High would like to welcome Ferb Fletcher and his brother Phineas-"
Isabella's eyes went wide as she turned to Adyson and the rest of the girls, "It's not supposed to be Ferb and Phineas… it's Phineas and Ferb." Milly shushed her as Ferb played the opening chords on his father's synth.
Ferb then started singing as he pressed the buttons on the preset and started playing his guitar.
Phineas jumped in on second guitar as Buford kept the beat. Phineas had opted for a stand mic instead of the collar mic Ferb wore.
This was a song that no one aside from a handful of administration had heard before. It wasn't a song that the student body was familiar with. Buford was doing a fair job at keeping the beat, Phineas grinned at his lines in the song where he was asking his brother the question then laughing as Ferb supplied the lyrical answer.
The audience sat and watched, most couldn't help but move to the beat. "I've never heard this song before, they probably wrote it" Milly pointed out as the hypnotic chords vibrated through to her core. Holly shrugged, "It's probably English, that's all he listens to."
The song came to an end and everyone cheered, they couldn't help it. Mr. Taylor took to the mic again, "The administration and I can't thank you boys enough for choosing a song that didn't need editing."
Author note: This is the first of three songs in "The Battle of the Bands" set. Rockland Wonderland was huge when I was in high school. I know I just dated myself, I also know I just gave away my location.
