Pink hipityhop here with my first Invader Zim story. Zim is soft towards Gir in this story, but slips back into character at the very end.

It had been a long day for Zim. He woke up early that morning so he could get to skool before Dib got a chance to follow him. He woke up to find Gir next to him, sleeping upside down in his little green dog costume.
'Such an imbecile...' Zim thought. Just then gir fell on his back and reached up and got Zim's head in his hands. "I like my Master..." he said in his sleep.
Ever since then Zim had been down in his laboratory looking up chest pains and such. Dib was probably rambling on to Gaz about how he was out making plans to destroy planet earth. No matter though, he had to fine a way to eliminate these pains he was feeling, but maybe later. Speaking of Gir, Zim wondered what he was up to. Right when his head popped up above the toilet seat that was the entrance to his lab he saw Gir standing in the doorway of the kitchen.
"Hi Master! Want some of my chocolate bubble gum... errr... thingy?"
"No Gir. Say Gir, you wouldn't happen to know about anything about chest and head pains would you?" Zim asked knowing he wouldn't get a sensible answer out of gir.
"Awww Master isn't feeling well. Master needs a hug!" Gir yelled running towards Zim.
As fast as Zim came up he went back down into his laboratory.
'Maybe I've been being too hard on Gir,' he thought 'I'm always yelling at him. Maybe this is why im having these pains.'
He started thinking about when he first got Gir. The almighty tallest had put nothing but garbage where his intelligence chip(?) was supposed to be. And then when he got up and started jumping around he had called him stupid.
Well now it wasn't Zims fault that the tallest had made him that way. But Zim couldn't help but feel like he could help in some way to improve Gir.
He had tried that though. Every chip that Gir could possibly have he could remove, such as the guider chip Zim had given him. He took it off and let Zim get them lost in the middle of downtown and he left it at headquarters.
But what was Gir to know because of the almighty tallest? He didn't know that what Zim meant by "turn off the chip"
"Me next! Me next! My turn to get a robot slave!"
"That's all I've been treating him as. A slave. Maybe I should go and at least hug the little stinkbeast," he said "besides, I think that it's this human thing called "empathy" that I'm feeling."
He came back up the toilet and looked around to find Gir, but he couldn't find him anywhere.
"Gir? GIR!" Zim called looking all throughout his "houose", but he could not hind him.
"Now I'll never get rid of this a cursed feeling!" he screeched. "Just because I never hugged Gir..."
Just as he said that Gir jumped down in front of him and started rolling around in front of him.
"Gir! Stop this foolishness and get over here and hug me!" Zim said.
"YAY!" Gir shouted jumping up on the couch next to Zim and hugging him.

*KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK*

"Hey Zim! Open up!" Dib shouted from outside. Zim, deciding he didn't want to stop hugging Gir, took Gir with him to answer the door.
"What do you want Dib?" Zim asked slightly annoyed at his human enemy.
"Why weren't you in skool today? Why aren't you wearing your disguise? Why are you carrying that robot death device with you?" Dib prodded.
"He's not a death device he's my friend. That's right, my friend. And if you don't like it, you can go and play with your little experiments." Zim said, closing the door on Dibs face.
"You can't hide forever Zim! You will be exposed!" his tormentor shouted as one of Zims garden gnomes carried him off.
"I love you Master." Gir said.
"I... eh... love you too Gir. Now go outside and leave me alone!"
"Yay!"
