The ten deliveries Sharon made weren't all that bad.
In the first ones, the customers praised that the delivery was fast after they received the message about the order was being redone, and that makes her very happy, but the last deliveries where a little… Unusual.
One of the deliveries a couple came to get the pizza and they spent about ten minutes calling each other "sweety" and "puddin" while Sharon just wanted to get the money and get out of there before she went insane. When the money was finally handed over, she took off running, but still caught a glimpse of them kissing furiously as they held the pizza.
In the other delivery, an old lady came to get the pizza, and Sharon repeated the price five times for the old lady, who paid her a much higher amount for the pizza, and when she went to give the change to the old lady, she was gone. Feeling guilty, Sharon slips the money under the old lady's door, hoping she'll find it.
The last delivery was the scariest. She was already in a neighborhood known for being dangerous, and after ringing the doorbell of the house, she is greeted with a shotgun pointed at her head, panic almost made her drop the pizza.
"Ah, it's the delivery." says the man, lowering the shotgun "Sorry for this, It's just that an hour ago there was shooting in the street, so I thought you were trying to trick me."
"I'm just here to delivery the pizza, I swear!" Sharon squeaks, reaching out the pizza.
"Right right, here's your money." he extends the money, and when she reaches her hand, the man grabs her wrist and pulls her closer. "Take this, it's dangerous in the street."
He offers a gun.
"I-I-I-I-I-I don't need this! I-I… Have one, don't worry!" the man stares at her for a while, then he shrugs and let her go, closing the door afterwards.
Sharon leans against the wall, her legs shaking.
She definitely wouldn't go back to that neighborhood anymore.
After the unusual deliveries and taking a break to recover from the shock of the last delivery, Sharon finally returns to the Pizzaplex, heading to the kitchen.
"I'm back, I made the deliveries!" she announces when opening the door, and freezes.
All the human and Bots cooks were kneeling on the floor, bowing Sharon, even Annie and Chica.
"Hm, what are you all doing? And why you are here Chica?" Sharon asks, with fear in her voice.
"Oh, they said you are a saint, so I'm here to help worship you!" Chica lifts her head, totally happy.
"Wait, saint? What are you talking about?"
"You are like an angel who fell from heaven to save us from damnation!" Annie gets up, eyes shinning at Sharon.
"I-I'm nothing like that! You don't…" She is interrupted by a hand that rests on her shoulder.
"Don't argue with them, just accept." Chef Bot speaks.
"But I'm not a saint!"
"Obviously, but they're just so happy that you avoided a crisis, let them live out that fantasy now."
"But what if they continue to worship me every time I walk into the kitchen?" Chef Bot raises his hand with his finger up, ready for answering, but he stops and thinks for a moment.
"That will be a problem." he points at her "I will have to control these *beep*." he turns to everyone in the kitchen "Ok, enough loafing around, move your arses and go cook, we still have a lot to do! And stop worshiping the mechanic, she is a far superior being who doesn't need something so trivial!"
The comment makes the cooks nod and get up, heading back to their workstations.
Sharon thinks about arguing that she wasn't a superior being, but decides to keep quiet when she sees Annie and Chica standing in front of her.
"Thank you! Thank you so very much! We have never received so many positive comments about a delivery!" Annie takes Sharon's hands and start shaking them, very excited.
"It was nothing, I'm glad to have helped."
"They also talked about how fast the deliveries were, which always took a lot, it makes me wonder if Gary was loafing around during deliveries. I'll have to talk to him after he gets out of the hospital." She says, pensative "We need agile people like you, so we will have more positive comments, and thus earn more money and good reputation." With that, she let go of Sharon's hands and starts walking, her gaze lost in her thoughts.
"She's fine?" Sharon asks Chica.
"Ah, when she focuses on work, she doesn't see anything ahead, don't worry." the animatronic laughs "Annie is always working hard to clear the company's name, especially after the fire."
"It must not be easy." she grabs her toolbox from the corner "It was fun, but I have to get back to my real job, can you let Annie know later if she needs anything, just call me?" she starts turning to leave, but notices that Chica was nervously moving her hands, just like had happened the night they met. "Are you okay?"
"What? O-of course I am! Nothing wrong!" She's definitely not okay. Sharon sighs.
"I think you also have to go back to work, right? I have to go to the Parts & Services, I imagine you are going to the Atrium, want some company?"
"O-of course! That would be awesome!" the animatronic jumps up to her side and the two start walking towards the Atrium "So… How is working here?"
"It is being very good, the staff treats me well, being human or animatronic." she answers, looking at Chica "Is this some method of espionage by Fazbear to discover the rottenness of the employees?"
"What?! No! I-I was just curious!" Chica gapes, placing one of her hands on her chest, in a somewhat dramatic pose, which makes Sharon laugh.
"I'm just kidding." the face that Chica makes at her makes her laugh even more.
"I can tell you that none of the animatronics in this establishment have any protocol to spy on employees, we are not part of a Fazbear plot, in fact our guidelines are against it."
"Oh, good to know, but you still record everything you see and mechanics can access and see, right?"
"Yes, all animatronics have a database that store what they see and hear, acting like a human's mind, that's what makes us develop our personalities and… Wait, that means…"
"The espionage plot is still on."
"I-I-I-I swear I'm not spying on you, or any employee!" Sharon can't take it anymore and starts laughing, with some few tears when she sees the animatronic in total panic with the possibility of being a spy without knowing it "D-d-don't laugh! Heavens, how did I never think of that?!"
"C-calm down Chica, I can tell you that they don't care to watch hours of recordings of your lives." Sharon dries the tears, finally diminishing the laughter.
"You sure?"
"Well, from my interaction with your mechanics, they are more concerned with repairs than spying, besides, they must also be hiding some secrets, especially Boris, he is certainly has skeletons in the closet."
"Boris? The one who hit Freddy with a shot from the new modified Fazerblaster and left him blind for a week?"
"Yeah, exactly."
Sharon was not yet working at the Pizzaplex when this incident happened, but he was mentioned to all new employees as a way of warning that if this happened again, the person would be fired. Also, they alerted this by displaying a huge banner with Boris face, to make sure everyone in the Plex knows that he was the cause of the chaotic week that Freddy took "vacation". Poor Boris…
"Well, we're not supposed to speak ill of our employees, but Boris really does look suspicious, and it's not because of the Fazerblaster episode." Chica comes close to her, speaking softly, like a secret.
"Exactly." the two look at each other and smile, like accomplices.
Sharon's Fazwatch beeps, alerting a new message.
"Is this serious?" She sighs as she reads.
"What's the problem?"
"A kid ran over one of the Bots at Roxy Raceway and it looks like he went through a wall, along with the kart. I'll have to go check out the damage…"
"The kid is okay?" Chica asks, worried.
"It seems so, but I won't know until I get there. I have to run, I'll let you know about the child when I get more information, bye!"
"Okay, good luck there!" she waves while Sharon walks quickly to her destination.
Chica only stops waving when she no longer sees her friend, lowering her hand and holding it with the other, concern appearing on her face.
It would be okay, nothing bad will happen as long as she's at Roxy Raceway, she trusted Roxy to prevent that. She knew her concern was unfounded, but she couldn't help it.
She would have to trust that everything would go well.
"Heavens, is it possible to save something?" Sharon wonders when she sees the Bot that was run over.
"I don't know about him, but the management will pull their hair out when they see this wall." Hector, the operations manager, sighs.
"How did it break so easily?"
"See those pieces over there?" he points to the wreckage of the wall, which she confirms with her head "They are one of the most cheap materials on the market. I can't believe they accepted this crap. After two years or so it starts to crack and fall apart, which coincidentally is how long it's been since they rebuilt this whole attraction."
"Do you think they used that stuff all over Roxy Raceway?"
"Ninety percent for sure, but I'll have to call a specialized engineer, since I'm the only one who knows engineering at the Plex and that's beyond what I can do." he massages his temples, he would have a headache after all that "The management will want my head, even though I was only hired last year."
"It's better to fix this as soon as possible than to wait for a worse accident to happen."
"I know, but I'll have to convince the hardheads."
"You will, I believe in you." she tries to cheer him up "Look on the bright side, the boy is fine, and I think Roxy is enjoying being the center of attention." she looks at the entrance of the attraction, where Roxy was with a small crowd, who took pictures of her and asked questions, in addition to some people having posters mainly with the phrase "I love Roxy".
What is understable, after all she heroically saved the boy who lost control of his kart, which was not working the brake and started to accelerate.
From what she heard from people, when the boy started screaming for help, Roxy instructed the boy to remove his belt through the Fazwatch he wore, and like in a superhero movie, she, who was upstairs, runs and jumps onto the track as the boy comes with the kart towards her, and in a movie worthy stunt, she jumps and pulls the boy with her as the kart loses control and flips over, hitting a Bot that was just doing its job and breaking the wall.
A heroine indeed.
"She looks better at least."
"What do you mean?" Hector's comment makes her face him.
"Since they opened Roxy Raceway, Roxy refuses to set foot on the track. She doesn't even use her custom kart that has been restored. Those who work with her say that she freezes if she steps on the track. Also, she avoids crowds, she only deals with them during shows."
"Does anyone know why?"
"No idea. The mechanics say she's all right, but it must have something to do with some bad experience she had. You know, despite being an animatronic, they're just as human as you and me."
"Nobody tried, I don't know, listen to her and find out what happened and help her get over it?"
"Of course, but she doesn't talk about it, which makes it difficult." he looks at the wolf in the distance "Did you know she is my favorite?"
"Really?"
"Yes, so seeing that she is managing to overcome whatever happened, even if it is momentary, makes me happy."
The two look at each other and smile.
"But I'll let you take care of the Bot now, I have to prepare a speech for the management about all this shit."
"Good luck." With that Hector waves her goodbye.
Sharon drops her toolbox in a corner and goes to the Bot, she would need to check the damage first to see if she could fix it.
She was lucky the kart wasn't on top of the Bot, she was pretty sure she wouldn't have the strength to get it off the poor Bot.
With a sigh, she stares at the Bot's entire body and with regret, she concludes.
"Sorry buddy, I won't be able to fix you, the kart did the favor of hitting all the essential parts." she pats the Bot's head "You did a good job, you can rest now."
It seemed like a silly thing to do, but Sharon didn't care. For her, all Bots were like a person, they deserved respect, and that's exactly why she starts trying to get the Bot out of that dark and sad place.
Emphasis on trying.
Not that she was weak, but all the Bots had a weight… Considerable. So she had to literally drag the body across the floor to move it.
That would take hours.
"Superstar?" a voice that anyone who visited the Pizzaplex would recognize calls her, causing her to turn towards the opening in the wall.
"Freddy! Hey! How are you?" she laughs, nervous, in a comical position of half crouched holding the Bot by the waist.
"What are you doing inside this hole?"
"I… Well, there was an accident and this Bot ended up getting involved, so I'm taking him out of here." she tries to drag the Bot a little, in vain "Why are you so heavy?!" she whisper nervously to the helpless Bot.
"I see you're having difficulties, I'll help you." Freddy walks towards her.
"N-no! It is not necessary! You're going to get all dirty, and I can't ask you to do that and…" despite her protests, the bear lifts the Bot effortlessly.
"Superstar, there is no problem. I can't leave someone who needs help when I can help."
"But…"
"Stop with the 'but', now, where should we go with this fellow?"
"Utility tunnels, Bot disposal."
"Discard?" he finally notices the robot's state "You know you don't need to carry him there, right? Just call the Bots."
"It's not fair to him." She looks at the floor nervously. Freddy stares at her for a few seconds, processing what she said.
"You are really a very good person Superstar." he concludes, starting to walk.
"Yeah, I hear that a lot." she follows him.
"I heard that you and Chica became friends, as well with Chef Bot."
"Yeah, we can say that. Chef Bot seems to have gotten less mad at the cooks after I helped him." That makes Freddy laugh.
"I really see less people coming out crying."
"I'm glad he heard me." she laughs "And I had never talked with Chica, but we cooked together and it was really fun. After that sometimes we meet and she escorts me through the Plex." she thinks for a moment "Speaking of which, do you know if she has any problem?"
"Like what?"
"Well, sometimes she seemed… Nervous, especially when I have to go somewhere else and leave her alone."
"Superstar, let's say that certain events from the past marked our memories… But I won't be the one to give the answer about her problems, that's something you should ask Chica."
"Fair." She agrees, despite wanting Freddy to have given her an answer instead of a riddle.
The two arrive in front of the Bots disposal, Freddy carefully places the Bot in the place Sharon indicates, she says goodbye and pulls a lever that triggers a conveyor that takes the Bot away.
"Thank you for helping me Freddy, I couldn't have brought him here so quickly."
"Whenever you need any kind of help, you can call me." the animatronic speaks happily.
"O-Of course." her tone makes him stare at her, seriously.
"Superstar, I'm serious, and not just for manual help, any kind of help." His tone makes her take a step back, along with him bending over and getting his face on the same level as hers.
"Okay, okay, I'll call!" she raises her hands in surrender, startled by the half-aggressive tone of the animatronic known for being the most passive of all.
He stares a little longer, until he nods and stands up straight again.
"So, what else can I help you with?" He returns to his usual excited tone.
"Nothing, I just need to go back to Parts & Services to finish fixing the Wet Floor Bot and then I finish my shift." She responds quickly, still a little scared from before.
"Would you like company until the Parts & Services?" he turns his head to the side, Sharon would even find it cute, if she hadn't taken an aggressive ultimatum from the bear before.
"It is not necessary! I'll stop by and get something to eat too, and you have to go back and pay attention to the visitors."
"Ah, well remembered Superstar! But I'll accompany you until we get out of these tunnels, they can be… Dangerous if you're alone."
"What do you mean by that?"
She glares at the bear, who just stares back at her and puts his hands on her shoulders, making her turn around and pushing her to walk away.
"Wait, Freddy, what did you mean by that? Freddy?!" the bear just hums as he pushes her out of the tunnels.
Without getting an answer from Freddy.
The day after her adventures, Sharon parks her motorcycle in the Pizzaplex parking lot, taking her backpack and checking her Fazwatch, seeing what chores she has for the day.
Strange, why was her to-do list empty?
"Hey, Charlie! I need to talk to you!" A man about forty years old waves at her, who she recognizes as Rick, her boss.
"Oh, good afternoon. What would it be? And my name is Sharon, not Charlie." She responds as he grabs her hands.
"I heard you gave the kitchen staff a hand yesterday, something about delivering food."
"Yes, I did. I had already done everything on my list, which is empty today. Was there a problem with the system?"
"Oh, no no, it's just that the episode it was talked to the directors, and it was decided that they will expand the deliveries." he smiled.
"And what does that have to do with me not having chores?" She wasn't liking where this conversation was going.
"Well, Annie strongly recommended that you be one of the people responsible for deliveries, especially now that we don't have any deliveryman or motorcycles. You know, until people show up to fill the vacancies. Oh, but she wanted you to keep making deliveries even after they hire more people."
"Wait, me being a delivery guy? And the Bots? I was hired to fix them, you know."
"Here comes the great part." He brings his face closer to hers, which pulls back a little. Why are they putting their faces close to hers lately when she clearly saw them? Just because she wears glasses doesn't mean she couldn't see. "They are offering you a raise to act as a Bot mechanic and delivery person."
This perplexes her for a moment. A raise? It would definitely help a lot, Alan would be very happy about it.
"And how would that work?"
"Basically you won't have as many tasks as usual, and when there are deliveries, you will be called by Annie or Chef Bot to make the deliveries. If there's anything urgent, just let me know and I'll send someone to cover for you."
"You sure? Won't it get a little heavy for me?"
"Of course not! I know with all that youth of yours, it wouldn't be a problem!" he lets go of her hands and pats her back, which doesn't react "What do you say? Will you accept? That's fine with me, and think of the raise you'll get!"
She looks at him with a raised eyebrow. Her boss, who loved to give her a million chores, was overjoyed that she got a "promotion". There's something fishy in all of this.
However, the offer was very tempting.
"Okay, I can deliver the food in my spare time." she decides.
"You made the right choice Shirley!"
"My name is Sharon."
"Oh right, as Gary was in an accident and the motorcycle was a total loss, you'll have to make the deliveries with your motorcycle while the new ones don't arrive. They are expected to arrive next week."
"No problems."
"Come on, give me a hug Charlotte!" Her boss hugs her, he was very excited.
Did she make the right choice in accepting the offer?
Probably not.
