Forever

She smiled sadly, Li could feel her palm pressing something in his hand. Then Sakura turned from him and walked away slowly.
Li stood there, his emotions tangled up in his mind. He wanted to do something, shout after her, run after her, anything! But he just stood there unable to do anything except stare at her back. A tear formed in the corner of his eye and made its way down his cheek. It fell on the ground, making a small wet spot.
Far away, Li thought he heard it again. Her laugh, a sound that's so sacred to his ears. He remembered her, her laugh, screams and words. The words he never heard, the words he wanted to hear but never got the courage to tell her.
Finally, he opened his clenched fist. Laying on his open palm was a petal. Not any petal but one of a cherry blossom. Sakura. Li looked up. He saw Sakura turn one last time at him and walked on, leaving him forever. No! It's not true! This isn't happening to me! Li wanted to believe that. But it was too late, it had already happened...
A gentle breeze blew a few petals from the nearby cherry trees. For the last time, Li thought he heard Sakura's laugh... She's gone, forever...
