A Day out, With The Owl Familia:
Quiet Moments, Not-so-Quiet Moments

"Uhhh, what happened?" Hunter moaned as he woke up on a bench.

"Kronk with bananas," Steve replied humorously, suddenly appearing next to the Golden Guard.

Startled, Hunter jumped to his feet and readied his staff. This proved to be a bad move as a wave of lightheadedness hit him and he moaned as he started to widdle. Thankfully, before hitting the ground, stone pillars shoot up at Hunter's sides and support him. He was gently lowered to the ground, and he took a moment to collect himself.

"Steve? What's going on and what happened to you?" Hunter asked when he noticed the state his subordinate was in.

The loveable scout was covered head to toe in cream, and he was using an ice pack on his head. Hunter also noticed a faint smell coming off of him. But, despite his state, Steve still smiled and offered his boss a thumbs up.

"Oh, Steve just tried to stop a creep from creeping on you and got thrown into the exploding ball pit," Steve replied lightheartedly. "But have no fear, the pit and Steve are old friends."

Hunter decided not to respond to Steve and focused on what was important, namely finding his uncle.

He stood up and looked around. He happened to spy a clock and saw that only 15 minutes had passed since his encounter with the witch.

"Steve, did you find any leads on the emperor while I was under?" Hunter asked commandingly.

The scout gave his superior a dirty look as he replied, "Dude, Steve just said that Steve was busy. So Steve wasn't able to find the emperor."

Hunter let out an angry sigh as he took out his Golden Guard staff. He was about to fly into the air with the plan to survey the entire area when a noise caught his attention.

Flapjack chirped as he flew down and landed on Hunter's head.

"You found the emperor?" Hunter asked eagerly. "Where?"

The Palisman flew off in a direction, and Hunter followed him. Steve cocked an eyebrow when he saw that the red cardinal was leading his witch in the direction of the hall of mirrors. Still, he followed after the Golden Guard, just in case.

"Papa, otay?" Gus asked his father as the reporter took slow sips of water.

Currently, the group was in the dining area of the park waiting on Eda, Lilith, and Harvey to get lunch. Perry, still feeling a little sick from the last ride, smiled at his son and reached out. He ruffled Gus's hair causing the "knocked-down" witch to blush slightly.

"You don't need to worry, Augustus," Perry replied. "You old man had been through worse."

Harvey just cocked an eyebrow at this. He had known the reporter for a few years even before their kids met, and from what he knew, Perry rarely did things out of event pieces.

The abomination witch let his friend have this moment, looked towards the other members of the "knocked-down" Coven, and smiled slightly. Amity and Luz were playing with some abomination goo. Willow was busy looking after a flower near their table.

Harvey suddenly frowned as he realized that the Clawthorne sisters and his husband still wouldn't back. It certainly shouldn't take this long to get a couple of Not Dogs and some fried fingers.

He was about to get and see if there were any problems, only to get startled when a tray came slamming down on the table. Harvey gawked at the single Not Dog that took up the entire tray.

"Titan, what is that?" Perry asked breathlessly, looking like he was about to puke again.

The wild witch just grinned as she took her seat. "This, Perry boy, is the Not Dog Supreme Superior. The greasiest, fattest fast food on the Isles with every topping known to witches, and probably a few to humans as well. Right, kiddo?"

Luz, whose attention hadn't left the food since it arrived, looked at her witch mother with sparkles in her eyes and nodded. Eda's grin grew a bit warmer as she reached out and patted/ruffled her kid's hair.

The human witch had a little blush from the act as she went to eat her lunch the only way Little Luzura knows how to, and that was by plunging face-first into the item. This caused Eda to smile mischievously, as she took out a cleaning rag, some tear-free face cleaner, and a camera.

"Honestly, Edalyn, did you have that monstrosity created just to give you an excuse to clean my niece's face," Lilith grumbled slightly as she and Gilbert returned with the rest of lunch.

Eda just looked at her sister with a grin and pointed to something behind the NDSS. Curious, Lilith gave her little sister a glare before looking over the food.

"Amity…" Lilith moaned as she watched her daughter dive headfirst into the NDSS, "You have been around my niece for far too long."

Still, Lilith reached from the camera and got into position.

"Amity dear, could you look in my direction please?"

Amity, with mustard covering her face, looked at her mother curiously. Lilith smiled as she took the picture. She grabbed the picture and handed it to Eda to store in her hair for safekeeping and went back to taking pictures as the other "knock-downs" joined in.

Though the three adults who weren't familiar with this strange sight were a little startled, they couldn't help but smile at the adorable sight. Harvey even commented on Amity and Willow's renowned friendship, and that reminded Lilith of something.

"Edalyn, there's something I have been meaning to discuss with you," Lilith said seriously, looking at her sister. "Would it be possible to speak with you in private?"

Eda sent a small glare her sister's way; she was getting ready to clean Luz's face and didn't want to be interrupted. Her expression changed when she noticed how serious her sister was being. So, with a reluctant nod, the wild witch exchanged her clearing items for a Not Dog and followed her sister.

"What do you want to talk about, Lily?" Eda asked impatiently once the sisters were out of earshot.

Lilith didn't want to beat around the bush and said, "What do you think about me moving back into the owl house?"

Eda, who was about to take a bit out of her lunch, just shrugged. "I was wondering when you were going to ask me that."

Lilith gave her sister a look that was a mix between annoyance, irritation, and bewilderment. Eda gave her sister a knowing smirk as she finished her lunch.

"Don't get me wrong, ma and pa's place is great, but it's out of the way," some of the joy faded from Eda's smile as she looked at her new niece. "Boots spent her life alone, even if she was crowded by a bunch of tools. She needs to be around people who like her for her."

Lilith could only stare at her sister, not truly expecting an answer like that. At the same time, she couldn't deny the logic Eda was giving her, and this caused the former coven head to smile.

"Honestly, my kid and your kid are so much alike it sometimes scares me," Eda muttered offhandedly.

Lilith frowned but silently agreed with her sister. Amity and Luz were so much alike on so many levels it was no wonder they eventually got together. Still, it brought her joy knowing that her adopted niece and daughter were to find one another when they needed each other the most.

"Enough of this serious, mushy stuff," Eda suddenly said, looking at Lilith with a grin. "I like to get back to our witchlets before that dog is gone."

The wild witch then returned to the group before her sister could get a word out. Lilith shook her head as she followed, a retort about how four current children couldn't possibly have eaten much of that monstrosity in the short time they were gone.

The former coven head's eyes nearly jumped out of their sockets when she saw that the Not Dog Supreme Superior was half-eaten. Strangely, the only thing messy on the current set of kids were their faces.

The Clawthorne sisters took their seats and waited to see how far their kids could get before they began to clean their faces.

Boscha wasn't having a good day; she had gotten a few days off to process everything that had happened and she wouldn't lie that she hadn't gotten much sleep when she learned how her love interest viewed her.

So she decided the park was the best place to get her mind off things. Boscha had just entered the park when it began to rain titan skulls. She tried to avoid them, but one still came down on her. Thankfully, like the last time, the skull was hollow and she didn't suffer any injury.

Still, the experience had left Boscha a bit irritated, and she decided to head to her favorite activity in the park…the test of strength. Or, that was the idea until something rather familiar happened.

"WHY IS THIS HAPPENING TO ME AGAIN?!" Boscha screamed as she ran away from Emperor Belos.

The potion student dared to look over her shoulder and might have laughed at the sight if she wasn't being chased by the emperor of her homeland. Belos still had that shirt on from early, but now he wore a novelty hat with foam-clapping talons on it.

Strangely, the emperor's throne had gained some colorful writing, which said 'Belos Rule, wild witches drool'. Again, Boscha might have laughed if it wasn't the emperor chasing her.

She looked forward and nearly grinned when she saw the house of mirrors coming up and made a hard left into the house. She looked back and groaned when she saw the emperor turn and ram through the door to the house.

"Oh, c'mon," Boscha groaned as she dove to her right.

She covered her head with her arms as Belos flew past her and she heard crash noises a few seconds later. Boscha lifted her head when the noise stopped and grimaced when she saw the damage. She got up and looked at the holes. Her grimace deepened when she realized that the emperor had gone through the entire house's wall, and by the looks of things, was still going.

"Hey, what do you know, the bird bro wasn't trying to get you to have some fun," a voice said lightheartedly.

Boscha looked towards the entrance and saw the unmarked Gold Guard and a Coven scout entering. Hunter was looking around and when he saw the potion student, his body tensed up.

"You!" Hunter shouted commandingly, "Did you do anything to the Emperor? I saw him come this way just a second ago."

Hunter aimed his staff at the student and lit the gem on the item. Boscha couldn't help but scoff at this and put a hand on her hip. Maybe it was the events of the last couple of days catching up with her. Maybe it was because her mind was still in such a spin, but whatever the reason, she wasn't going to let someone point fingers at her.

Even if the witch pointing them was the Golden Guard.

"Listen here," Boscha said, keeping her voice slightly even but making her words sharp. "I'm not in the mood. And I didn't even do anything to the emperor. He was the ONE chasing me for five minutes."

Hunter didn't move, didn't lower his staff. Boscha didn't like this and got a spell ready. The two bodies tensed even further as they locked eyes and prepared to let their spells fly.

"Hey, hey," Steve said calmly, pushing his way between the two, "This a fun place, so why don't we put the spells down and-"

"DOWN!" Hunter screamed.

The Golden Guard barreled into the two witches and knocked them to the ground just in time for the emperor to pass over them again. He looked and watched as his uncle rammed through wall after wall until he disappeared.

Hunter stood up and offered Boscha a hand, surprisingly. The three-eyed witch looked at the hand weary before she reluctantly took it. He helped her up and cast a quick spell. Once Hunter was sure the witchling wasn't hurt, he sighed and looked around.

With another sigh, he waved his staff and the area became bathed in red magical energy. Boscha watched as the damage on the house began to reverse itself, Steve even helped with a few spells of his own.

Once the task was complete, Hunter looked at his subordinate. "Steve, what was in those potions?"

The scout just shrugged as he and the others made theirs to the exit. "Steve doesn't know. All Steve was told was to get rid of the stuff and Steve did. Steve was in Construction."

The trio reached the exit and that was when Steve did a spell. A neo-green flashing sigh, which read 'Eat at Steves', rose behind the scout. The loveable scout struck up a pose as the other two just looked at the sight dully.

"...How do you put up with that guy?" Boscha asked deadpan.

"I have been asking that question for a month," Hunter replied.

After lunch, Eda and her group decided to venture back to the game area of the park to let their lunch settle. Unfortunately, the two sisters began arguing nearly as soon as they got into the area.

"I want to take Amity Brawling," Lilith argued. "It's my favorite game!"

"And it's a granny game," Eda retorted with a snort. "I want Luz and her friends to play a real game, like sewing."

From the sideline, the Parks, Porters, and Blight-Noceda-Clawthorne children watched as the former coven scoffed at the idea.

"Please, Edalyn, that game is so basic even our current children can best you without even trying," Lilith retorted.

The two continued to argue back and forth and that left the others to their own devices. Gilbert and Harvey planned to take the current children around the area to see what they would like to play while Gus stood with his father. While the reporter had largely recovered from the earlier incident, he had decided to remain out of any other activity until his stomach had settled completely.

It was during this time that Amity saw something that caught her interest; the prizes for the test of the strength game. One of the prizes just happened to be the rabbit friend from the Otabin storybook.

The "knocked-down" witch immediately ran to the game and tried to lift the hammer. At her current age, however, Amity couldn't move the heavy object. So, she summoned an abomination. The abomination suddenly fell apart and the "knocked-down" witch sent a glare at the operator.

The operator had finished casting a spell and looked lazily at the "knocked-down" witch.

"Sorry, kid, too young to play," the operator, a demon with scales around his cheeks, said in a bored tone. "Besides, you can only use what your family gave you."

"Really," Eda replied, appearing behind her niece, "Tell me how using magic isn't something your family gave you?"

The operator lazily looked at Eda as her sister joined him and together, the two glared at the demon.

"Lady, I don't make the rules, I just watch this thing," the operator replied lazily.

Eda glared at the demon, but then a sly grin crossed her face as an idea popped into her head. She walked up to the hammer and threw her grin at the operator one last time.

"So, only use what your family gave you, right?" Eda asked the demon, who gave a half-nod.

Eda gave her niece a soft smile and a quick hair ruffle before she took hold of the hammer. The sly grin returned as the wild witch transformed and rose the hammer over her head with ease. She slammed the hammer down with all of her might, and the weight went flying toward the bell. A scream happened a second later, and Eda looked at the operator smugly.

"I will take my prize now," the wild witch said smugly.

The operator looked at Eda as she turned back to normal with the same bored expression. He opened his mouth to say something, but Lilith stopped him.

"By your own account, you said that we could use only what our family gave us. I gave my sister the curse she used over thirty years ago. Also, before you say anything else, our type of transformation uses only the bare minimum of magic. So, I believe that falls under your own rules."

The operator looked at Lilith, his expression changing ever so slightly. He opened his mouth to say something when a scream drew everyone's attention to the right. Everyone could only gawk as the Emperor came rushing in. He now had a tote bag to go with the shirt and hat he was wearing.

"Uhhh," was the only thing the operator managed to say before the emperor plowed over him.

The group watched as their esteemed emperor suddenly stopped and seemed to be deciding where to get next. He took a hard left and disappeared into the crowd.

Blinking, Eda looked back at the operator. Except for a skid mark, one that looked like a tire, the demon was fine. She recovered and a sly grin spread across her face as she went from the plush toy that had grabbed her niece's attention.

"Ha, I think that's the first time the antler head emperor helped me," Eda stated as she took the toy.

"Edalyn," Lilith warned.

"Chill, sis," Eda replied, waving off her sister's warning. "I won this fair and square."

Eda smiled a soft smile as she kneeled and offered the toy to her niece. Amity, with sparkles in her eyes, took the toy and launched herself into her aunt's arms.

"Luve you, auntie Eda!" the "knock-down" witch said lovingly.

Eda's smile grew ever so slightly as she returned the hug. She just happened to see her own kid sulking slightly, and opened her left hand. Luz understood the gesture and leaped into her witch mother's embrace.

Lilith, who had the foresight to keep the camera out, quickly took a picture.

You know, I have always considered myself an average writer, as I think of this as a hobby more than anything. So I was blown away when I learned that someone was making a TV-Trope page from my silly little series.
Now on to some world-building; Brawling is like bowling, or, in the case of amusement parks, mini-bowling. About the only difference is the ball; it's made from abomination goo and randomly explodes.
Now onto sewing; basically, it is the demon's version of darts. The big difference is that the targets are moving and you get more points if you "sew" them together.
