Purring

"Ratchet, I got a call from the hospital." Rivet said.

It was a nice day in Los Angeles, Ratchet, Rivet, RJ, and Roy were all playing basketball at a park. Ratchet was finally getting some time to finally chill out. Then, Rivet got a call from Sly about the situation.

Ratchet dropped his ball.

"What happened?"

"Crash and Nathan have been in an accident." Rivet said.

His heart sank.

Ratchet knew them since he moved to Earth on 2005.

He got introduced to Crash Bandicoot first. Then Ratchet and Rivet met Crash and Coco at a hotel in Hollywood.

He met Nathan at a pool one day when he and Rivet went swimming.

The rest was history after that.

Ratchet grabbed his skateboard

"What hospital?"

"At Los Angeles Community Hospital." Ratchet nodded and he skated to the hospital.

Ratchet got there and he went in. holding his board.

"Hi, I'm here to see Nathan Drake and Crash Bandicoot."

The receptionist typed something on the computer. Then she looked up.

"Both of them are in room 109." Ratchet ran to the room.

"107, 108. Oh, 109, finally." Ratchet was about to grip the handle. Then someone walked up behind him.

"Ratchet?" A female voice asked. He turned around, it was Elana.

"How are they, what happened?" The Lombax asked her.

"They were going to see you actually, they didn't see the truck Nathan tried to move out of the way but it was too late."

Ratchet was shocked. He couldn't believe this! Two of his coworkers and friends were in the hospital.

He didn't make eye contact with her. He looked around the room. Then down at the floor

Elana saw this sudden mood change in him that she's never seen before. The PlayStation star stared at the floor not wanting to pick up his head.

"Ratchet?" Elana asked. He looked up. He wiped the tears from his eyes so she couldn't see them.

"Ratchet, you okay?"

"Y-Yeah…" he said, sighing and taking the back of his hand to wipe his eyes one more time.

"Ratchet… you're not. What's wrong?"

Ratchet bit his lip and squeezed his eyes shut. His hands were clenched and his head bowed.

Elana saw her friend upset.

Ratchet walked to her and hugged her. Cries escaped him. Elana rubs his back in comfort.

"Ratchet… it's going to be alright, they're going to be fine," she said.

"W-what if they don't… oh god I don't want to think about it!"

Elana rubbed his back. His cries stopped and she felt something. Elana saw his eyes closed and a sound escaped him.

Is he…. Purring?

She rubbed his back more and Elana knelt. Ratchet got on his knees with her. Then he broke the silence.

"Can we see them?"

Elana wasn't sure what to tell him.

"We… we can't right now. But we can see them in a few hours okay…"

Ratchet put his head on his shoulder. Elana put her arm around him and rubbed it.

"It's going to be okay…. Are you scared?" she asked.

The PlayStation star and hero nodded.

"Why, why are you scared?" she gently asked him.

"I-i have all these thoughts man… I'm scared that they won't push through this…" he said.

"Ratchet, they will push through this…" Elana said with determination. Her husband will make it out of this.

"Why aren't you scared?"

"Well, I am but… everyone handles fear differently, Ratchet, I handle it my way. You handle it your way…" he nodded and held her still.

Elana rubbed his back again. she smiled as he started purring again.

Ratchet then finally felt at peace. He then fell asleep on her lap while still purring.

Rivet walked inside the hospital and walked to the room. She saw the most adorable sight she had ever laid eyes on.

Ratchet was asleep on Elana's lap. Elana was petting him like he was a scared baby kitten.

Rivet knelt beside her.

"What's up?" Elana asked.

"What happened?" Rivet asked.

"He had a panic attack… but I think he's calmed down," she said, still having a hand on his back.

Rivet smiled and put a hand on Ratchet's forehead. He didn't wake up. Rivet smiled and kissed him.

"Thanks, Elana…" she said, hugging her friend.
