Chapter 1: The Heads of Cerberus

Vergil walked through the long-abandoned city to the massive tower that was over the horizon. The same thing he had done with the city alive over the past year… it was honestly as relaxing as it had been all those other times before that moment… that was without the demons jumping him every five minutes and their bodies falling to the ground with only the draw to his blade. He honestly wanted to start reading on the bench as he made his way over, he was trying to get through Marcel Proust's elephantine Remembrance of Things Past and he would have liked to work through it without issue… this was not the best time but he could at least got through a couple hundred thousand words of the work before he got to the doors of the tower… but that would soon prove to be a dream that would die by the wayside. The tower was right in front of him… with doors wide open.

"What a warm welcome for me dear brother," said Vergil

He walked through the open doorway, with the doors closing without any effort behind him, and walked to the center of the room. It was strangely cold, with ice growing from the floor and ceiling. Vergil looked up slightly before flipping back toward the doors to dodge a falling three-headed dog. The dog stood with all of its heads glaring at the son of Sparda before trying to fire a beam of ice at the teenager… only for him to be on one of the dog's heads.

"Bad doggie, you get no treats now." taunted Vergil before dodging a bite from one of the other heads, the second he landed he tried taunting the beast again, "You know if you were trying to hit me you could have done it by now."

"SILENCE WELP!" ROARED the three-headed dog, Cerberus, "YOU WILL NOT ENTER THE TEMEN-NI-GRU BY ORDER OF THE ONE WHO SEALED IT!"

"And I dare say you are bad at your job if that is the case." said Vergil, "Now if you shall excuse me, there is somebody who has invited me into this tower. I think I am on the list that the boss gave you."

"BY NAME OF SPARDA NONE SHALL PASS THROUGH THE DOORS OF THIS TEMPLE! YOU SHALL DIE!"

The dog-like creature slammed its paw down onto the ground and pillars of ice erupted out of the ground, Vergil scowled at this before dodging the closest one to him before he sliced it and the one behind it into pieces. Vergil looked behind him to see another set of pillars flying toward him, one he knew he could not dodge in time, he sheathed the Yamato before drawing the blade to block the one slot of ice, that was before the Cerberus charged at him with the speed of a speeding semi-truck. Vergel barely had time to dodge the raging beast, but he was going to make the best of it, he leaped up into the air and slashed the middle dog's head down the middle of its snout before it crashed into the wall behind him, Vergel then started to slice and slice away the ice on all three of the heads of the dog demon, with the demon growing more and more angered over the constant Barrage, so it backed away from the wall and threw Vergil off Ballance before all three of its heads tried to eat the young devil hunter. Vergil tried to dodge one of them, but he ended up rolling into the mouth of the second one, but he stuck his feet out in order to prevent himself from getting eaten, while the third and second heads were trying to charge up a pair of Ice beams to fire at the teen.

'Damn, I got careless.' thought Vergil, 'I normally would have thought about this before going into a fight like this… I guess my dear little brother got the better of my thoughts. I refuse to die here… especially like this. I just need to look at this from a different angle.'

He moved his foot forward slightly before the three-headed demon dog fired the beams down upon him.

'This will work.'

He teleported out of the dog's mouth the moment it fired the beams and landed only a few feet off of the ground by the door to the main part of the tower.

"I can't believe that worked!" said Vergil, "I have been practicing that for so long!"

The Cerberus lunged toward the currently ecstatic demon hunter before Vergil teleported again, but behind the three-headed dog, and then he teleported again in order to be on top of the third head of the demon dog and decapitated it from that head's neck. Vergil then preceded to teleport over to the next head and slice that one off too, that was after the demon dog tried to toss the hunter off oh. Vergil landed with the grace he expected he would before looking toward the dog in question, who looked like he had had enough of the fight in question.

"WHAT DID YOU JUST DO?!" demanded Cerberus

"It was my father's form, along with a couple of others, Sparda taught me that form while he was still around me and my brother… I was never able to do that until now." said Vergil, "This fight is over, that form and my blade must have been enough to prove that I am Sparda's son

"INDEED, WHAT YOU SPEAK OF IS TRUE. THE FIGHT IS OVER, AND TO REPENT FOR MY TRANSGRESSIONS AGAINST YOU, PLEASE USE ME IN COMBAT."

After all that was said, Cerberus erupted into a flash of light before turning into an ord of light and floated toward Vergil before it turned into what looked to be three-headed nunchucks.

"DO YOU THINK THIS WILL BE TO YOUR LIKING SON OF SPARDA?" asked Cerberus through a telepathic link with Vergil

"Two things First is don't be so loud. Second thing, Let's find out."

Vergil took the nunchucks and started to do tricks with them at first, just to get the feel for them, and then he started to test their powers of them, thrusting pillars of ice in almost every direction before finally taking all three heads of weapon and slinging the loop for the chains onto his belt, grabbing Yamato, and beginning to walk toward the doors of the tower.

"You are definitely going to bring some good through this adventure," said Vergil with a smirk

(The Top of the Temen-ni-gru)

"He has been graciously invited, my friend."

Two people stood at the top of the tower, one was the priest-like man that started this whole mess, and the second… held great demonic power.

The second man was no older than 18, his hair white and messy with his eyes a pure brown… he was almost a mirror image of Vergil in terms of physical appearance. But his clothes were tattered and his body had scars covering it. The only things on his person that looked to be in mint condition were his guns that he kept in his pockets and his sword, the rebellion. This was Dante… the second and youngest son of Sparda.

"Good… soon, Arkham, soon the Party will begin… and our plans will finally become reality," said Dante
