Batman vs The 6 6 6

Chapter 4: High Anxiety

Most months were terrible if you were a superhero in Gotham City, but October was the worst. That was when all the craziest lunatics would start coming out of the woodwork.

Criminals like Jonathan Crane A.K.A. Scarecrow especially loved this time of year. He always enjoyed giving Gotham a good scare during the season of Samhain. Luckily he was locked up at Arkham Asylum.

Joker was no exception either. He loved the holidays because it meant more people were gathering together in one place, which in turn meant he could kill more people at one time. And, unfortunately, the Joker was still on the loose.

Batman could only work on so many cases at once. His biggest case at the moment was trying to find the copycat Holiday murderer. Halloween was shortly approaching and the Holiday copycat was surely plotting their next dastardly deed. Holiday had last killed someone who was standing outside taking a break at work on Labor Day. The maniac probably thought they were being funny by killing a worker on that particular holiday. Killing jokes were usually the Joker's MO, but the Joker would have proudly taken credit for it if he had done it himself.

Batman could understand most motives for why someone does what they do. Like Penguin for example, he loved controlling the mafia scene in Gotham. It gave him a great sense of power, pride, and prestige. He always WAS a perilous proprietor.

Then there were criminals like Killer Croc who prefer to run the underground gangs below the streets of Gotham. Not to mention the occasional snack of an innocent bystander wandering off too close to the sewers.

But the Holiday copycat seemed to have no motive. The victims were completely unrelated and the only thing that the murders did have in common were that they all seemed to have occurred on a holiday.

Batman was prepared to check out another lead on the case, when he suddenly saw the Bat-signal shining in the night sky. The beacon was being flickered on and off like Morse Code, which usually meant Commissioner Gordon had something very important he needed to convey to Batman.

Minutes later Gordon stood next to the Bat-signal's large beacon awaiting Batman's arrival. He could suddenly hear the sound of a cape snapping in the wind.

"Batman, thank goodness you're here." Gordon declared, knowing Batman was within an earshot's distance away from him. "I received an urgent call from the sheriff of Cunningham County. He believes that a man by the name of Michael Myers is on his way to Gotham City, and that a woman by the name of Laurie Strode could be in grave danger."

"I heard about the transport truck that crashed on its way to Arkham Asylum." Batman's growling voice proclaimed. "I also read the autopsy of Laurie Strode. It said she died nearly 20 years ago after falling from a tall building. What would make Michael Myers suddenly believe she is alive and living in Gotham City?"

"I don't know. Apparently Michael's psychiatrist, Dr. Loomis, strongly believes it to be true. The doctor is on his way to Gotham as we speak. He claims that Michael is pure evil and cannot die because he shot him six times and blew him up at a hospital in Haddenfield."

"There is nobody by the name of Laurie Strode listed as a resident of Gotham City. Did the doctor give you any clues as to where she might be hiding out if she were actually here?"

"None." Gordon answered. "She could be anywhere…or…she could have died twenty years ago and we are being led on a wild goose chase."

"If she's hiding from a madman, she is probably hiding out on a more secluded side of town." Batman proclaimed.

"The most secluded side of Gotham City is Old Town. It's been that way ever since all the old factories and warehouses closed down in the mid 80's. Hell I remember when the last one closed up. It was June 23rd, 1989." Gordon stated while turning off the Bat-signal. "But she wouldn't want to hide out there. Nothing but criminals, homeless people, and drop-heads live out ther-", when Gordon turned around he realized he was only talking to himself because Batman was no longer there.

Old Town was a dark territory at the edge of Gotham. Most of the homes were abandoned and/or condemned. Gordon wasn't lying when he said there were nothing but criminals, homeless people, and drop-heads living in the area. Since it was mid-October, several barrel fires were lit to keep some of the people warm at night. Others took refuge in the abandoned buildings where they might've been lucky enough to find a useful furnace or fireplace.

Batman stood atop one of the old buildings and scoped out his surroundings. He was trying to put himself in Laurie Strode's shoes.

"Where would be the best place to sleep at night and feel safe at the same time?" He thought to himself.

Then, he noticed an old apartment building off of Elm Street that had a barbed wire fence placed at both entrances. Plus, the building seemed to have electricity running to it because there were a couple dim lights glaring near the top floor.

Batman shot out a grappling hook, attaching it to the roof of the old apartment building, and proceeded to swing across.

After landing on the roof, Batman found his feet stuck in five inches of thick sticky tar. The entire roof was covered with it and he could barely move. Every time he tried lifting his legs they felt terribly weighed down because of the amount of tar sticking to them. This was obviously a trap set for Michael Myers.

It was hard to make any headway because of how thick and sticky the tar was.

Suddenly, a flame-thrower began spewing fire in Batman's direction. Apparently his movement must have activated it.

He quickly reacted by shielding the heavy flame with his fire-retardant cape, but it wouldn't protect him for long because the flames were also starting to light the entire tar pit trap of a roof ablaze.

He quickly knelt down to unstrap his boots because he couldn't get them out of the tar. He then shot his grappling gun in the air hoping to connect it to an old radio tower. He was successful. In a flash he ascended into the air and soon grabbed onto one of the rusty beams.

Just when he thought he was safe, the radio tower suddenly released an electric shock. Most of his outfit was shock-proof, but the rusty old tower could barely handle the jolt and it began falling apart.

He made a quick observation towards one of the windows of the old apartment building. With no other choice, he leapt from the crumbling tower, pushing off with all his might, successfully managing to give himself enough boost, allowing him to crash through the window just as the old tower fell, crashing and clanging to the ground.

As he tried taking a step, now barefoot after leaving his boots in the thick tar on the roof, he came to the harsh realization that the entire floor was covered with shattered glass. Whoever set up these traps was preparing for war. Unfortunately Batman was the one who fell into them.

He wisely took off his cape and laid it out across the floor hoping to have the opportunity to move about the room.

But- before he could take another glance around the room-

WHAM! Michael Myers attacked him from behind. He must have managed to find the apartment first and hid behind the closet door.

Batman hit the ground, getting cut in several places as he landed on the broken shards of glass.

Michael then tried attacking again, but Batman was ready for him this time, swinging as hard as he could with an uppercut, landing his fist directly into Michael's strong jaw, causing Michael to stumble backwards for a moment.

Usually a punch that hard would have knocked Batman's enemy out cold, but it barely seemed to have stunned Michael. Not only did Batman have to figure out if Laurie was still alive, while at the same time fighting off an unstoppable maniac, but he also had to face another dilemma as he could also smell the burning tar on the roof, ready to collapse the entire building at any second.

"Laurie! Are you here!?" Batman loudly snarled.

Hearing Laurie's name made Michael even more furious. That type of reaction allowed Batman to know that Michael hadn't found her yet.

Michael grabbed hold of Batman's shoulders and flung him across the room, causing Batman to slam into the wall pretty hard, and becoming disoriented.

Michael wasn't done yet. He quickly started making his way over to Batman. Batman had to think fast because Michael had pulled out a large butcher knife and it appeared as if he was going in for the kill. Batman pulled out a Bat-boa and then flung it towards Michael, wrapping it around Michael's legs. That momentarily halted Michael, allowing Batman to make a mad dash towards the door. He could feel shards of glass crunching on the floor, and cutting into his feet, but heading for the door was his only hope of escaping Michael's mad wrath.

Just as he successfully made it to the door and opened it up-,

BAM! Batman was knocked backwards by another maniac, JASON VOORHEES.

Jason must have realized where Laurie was hiding out when he saw the apartment building's roof ablaze.

Batman was nearly knocked out cold by Jason's surprise attack. He could see stars as he laid still on the glassy covered floor trying not to pass out.

As he looked up he could see that the flames from the roof were finding their way into the apartment. That meant the roof would surely collapse soon and land on the room with all of them in it.

Jason saw Michael standing on the other side of the room. He remembered their previous encounter when they nearly butted heads. They both began walking towards each other. Jason with his machete and Michael with his butcher knife.

Just before they could reach each other, the floor began to shake, causing both killers to stumble backwards. Then, a body slowly started to magically rise up from out of the floorboards. The mysterious body was made out of pure blood. Then muscles began to form around the blood, and then skin suddenly appeared over that. The skin was scarred with the color of a burnt red.

That only momentarily stopped Michael and Jason from attacking each other.

"STOP FIGHTING FUCKERS!" Freddy Krueger demanded, making his arms stretch out and stopping the two of them from going at it. "We are here for the same reason!" He declared, making his arms stretch out even further, pinning the two of them against separate walls. "We are the children of the 6 6 6! Check your left palm! The symbol is there!"

Both Jason and Michael tilted their heads and looked at their left hand. Both of them had a symbol that resembled a six. Freddy showed them that he also had the same mischievous symbol.

"All of us had a dramatic experience when we were six years old. Search your memories, you'll remember when that mark mysteriously appeared. Michael was six, Jason was six, and I was also six. All three of us were destined for something much greater! We were destined to rule the world! But- we can't do that until we find Pandora's Box! It holds the key to endless power and eternal life!"

Just then, Batman started moving his legs, causing noisy shards of glass to catch Freddy's attention.

The three of them approached Batman. Michael and Jason were both about to strike Batman with their sharp weapons, but Freddy stopped them. "Oh no! This Bat-freak is all mine!" He declared. Instructing them to pick up Batman by his arms and hold him up. "Let's see who is behind that mask!" He exclaimed, pricking at the mask with one of his razor sharp claws.

Just as Freddy began to lift the cowl, the roof suddenly started to cave in, causing everyone to pause for a moment and shield themselves.

Batman used that split second to release himself from the grips of Michael and Jason.

The entire roof was coming down. Fiery liquid tar oozed into the apartment.

Batman only had one shot to get away, and that meant escaping through the window.

Batman then took a running jump and managed to crash through the window just as the entire roof completely caved in.

In free fall, heading towards the cold concrete, he somehow managed to shoot out his grappling hook at the last second, attaching it to another building, which only allowed him to slightly slow his rapid descent, but despite the fall not killing him, he still hit the ground hard enough to knock himself out cold. He was now completely helpless in Old Town.
