This chapter gave me the path for the next several chapters, very pumped for that.

"Who's your friend Gwen?" A man asked, he looked about forty with a strong smile and glasses. He was a red head like Gwen was, and like her, he had a strong aura of magic about him, just not on par with Gwen's by any means. He was standing next to a woman about the same age, only with a sort of boring aura.

Gwen smiled at her father. "Dad, this is Talisman, he helped us yesterday and I learned that he was homeless... can he stay here, while he gets on his feet?"

Talisman stepped forward, frowning. " I thought you said you were the only mage in your family Gwen, your father's aura is clearly magical."

The man gaped as did his wife. "Gwen, I thought you didn't inherit any of your grandmother's powers..." He sighed.

"Wait, magic runs in the family, I knew it!" Gwen declared, excited.

"There really is not such thing as magic, your grandma's an alien." The man said before turning to Talisman. "I imagine you are also of Alien Descent as well."

Talisman shook his head. " No, I was tested and you are wrong. Magic exists, it is the translation of energy into reality warping events via incantations and thought. Some alien species have stronger ties to mana and can do things that normal mortal humans cannot do. There are worlds made of magic, and all magic emanates from Legerdomain. Humans controlling these forces is always magic, but in Gwen case yes I imagine a large portion is due to her alien heritage. Ben's aura is also magical, but not as much as yours of Gwen's. I am trained in the craft quite directly."

The man nodded, eyes wide. "Is that how you helped Gwen?

"Yes, yes I did." He frowned and leaned in. " You have some clairvoyant powers, with the right training you could be very powerful sir... with the trouble of your kin, I would learn if I were you, to place a barrier around your home for safety if nothing else. I would be happy to train you and Gwen, so you can survive the evils stirring in the world."

The man sighed. " My name is Frank, you do not have to call me sir... and if you are going to train my daughter, to protect her in the Plumber things I know she is involved in..." he gave Gwen a look that had her blushing. "Then I welcome you into my home."

His wife nodded. "I am not overly fond of that side of things, but I do want my daughter safe. I welcome you too, Talisman. My name is Natalie."

Smiling, he turned and hugged Gwen. " Thank you all so much!" He stepped back and sighed. "I need to come clean though... my teacher, he told me about you. I didn't make the connection until a few minutes ago... my master, his name is Hex." Gwen gasped, stepping back. "I am sorry, I know you were foes, but he was the only teacher I could find. I wiped his mind, he has no memories of teaching me. I want to make the world a better place, not rule it like that fool. Trust me, anyone with any real desire to rule would lose that thought if they heard the rants he used to inflict on me. Also, seeing the damage I could cause, and I am no master, I knew that I needed to do good less I become the monsters I have seen so often in the real world."

Gwen sighed, then smiled. "Kevin used to be our enemy too, but he changed... you were just trained by Hex, you aren't him... I trust you. I can sort of feel your good aura, you are a good person at heart."

"Not always, but yes I do try to be good... to make up for not telling you, I will happily place a barrier on your home, to protect you from harm and make you safe from those that may seek to harm your loved ones. I excel at barriers, almost as much as I do divination." he turned to Frank and Natalie. "Do I have your permission to bless and protect your home?"

They both nodded, a smile on their faces. Frank said. "I would be honored kid, Gwen is right you are a good person."

Smiling, he dived into his bag. "Gwen, I need a blood sample, and your help. Shouldn't take me more than an hour or so, then we can work on practicing to master your powers. There is a lot to learn, I am sure we have nothing but time. You would be surprised what you can learn with the proper motivation."
