Three days later, Regina opens the door to the diner, whilst looking down at her phone at a message.
She doesn't notice that Emma is in front of her, and she walks into her.
"Oh, sorry, I.." Regina says and looks up to see Emma smiling and she looks happy to see her.
"You really should look where you're going Madame Mayor" Emma says teasingly and Regina sighs.
"I usually do dear, but I just had an important message come through" she then explains.
"Oh, all good I hope"
"Yes, I have just had it confirmed that there is enough funding for the town carnival this year"
"Ah, Henry will be pleased" Emma grins.
"He will" Regina smiles back and they then stand awkwardly for a long moment, just looking at one another.
"So, how have you been?" Emma asks, as she hadn't seen Regina since she stayed over the other night. She thought the older woman was avoiding her, after she kissed Regina on the cheek before she left.
"I've had a lot on at work and have been so exhausted. How about you?"
"Yeah, same really. You know at the station and stuff" she stuffs her hands in her pockets and watches, as Regina puts her phone away.
"I have wanted to talk with you though" Regina then says and she takes a deep breath.
"You have?" Emma sounds hopeful.
"Yes. I wanted to know, if you have decided if to want to go to spa with me or not?"
Emma's eyes widen slightly.
"Yeah, I'd like to go with you. It should be fun right?" Emma smiles slightly and she suddenly feels anxious about it.
"I'm sure it will be" Regina smiles back.
"Okay, cool. Um, when did you want to go?"
"I was thinking this Friday. I'm taking the day off and I know you're not at the station. So, I will call them and book us in"'
"Sounds good to me"
"Great. I will let you know the details once I confirm it"
"I'll look forward to it"
"Me too"
Both smile at one another and they then hear Ruby clearing her throat from behind and turn to her.
"You're both blocking the doorway" she tells them, whilst looking between them curiously and they then move out of the way, and Emma quickly says her goodbyes and leaves.
"So, what have you and the sheriff got planned?" Ruby then asks Regina, who had been watching Emma go.
"That's none of your business miss Lucas"
"I was only asking" Ruby then says with a sigh and she walks off, leaving Regina to make her way to the counter to order a coffee.
Later that evening.
Emma has just finished having dinner with her parents, when she hears her phone ding and then ding again and again.
"Your popular tonight" her father says with a grin and Emma rolls her eyes.
"It could be Henry" Mary Margaret then says, whilst taking the plates to the kitchen.
"Yeah, it usually is" David then mutters, as he settles down to watch tv and Emma pulls out her phone.
She then see's Regina's name on the screen and she smiles to herself. Before, tapping on the screen to read them.
Emma, I have called the spa and they have booked us in for 12.30pm.
Second message: Met me there at 12.25pm. Don't be late.
Emma smirks at this and thinks, She's such a stickler for punctuality.
Third message: Don't forget to bring a swimsuit. They will have everything else.
Emma then swallows thickly at the third message. I forgot that I would have to wear a swimsuit, she thinks to herself.
Shit, Regina's going to see me in a swimsuit. What if she thinks I look ridiculous! I haven't thought this through at all, she then thinks to herself and groans.
"What's wrong sweetheart?" she then hears her mother say and she looks to her and sighs.
"Um, I might as well tell you, as you're going to find out anyway" she then says and bites her lip briefly. "Regina's asked me to go with her to the spa on Friday and I've accepted"
"Oh" her mother looks briefly disappointed.
"I didn't think that a spa was your kind of thing" David then says curiously.
"Well, I've never been to one before. Maybe it will be fun"
Emma's phone then dings again, and she looks down at it.
I assume that you do have a swimsuit, Miss Swan.
This makes Emma laugh and she decides to reply with a joke.
I have and its pink and fluffy.
Across town. Regina is sitting in her study with a glass of wine in one hand and her phone in the other.
She had expected a reply from Emma but hadn't received any. So, she sent another about a swimsuit and moments later, she got her reply, and she narrowed her eyes at the screen before replying.
You better be joking. I will not sit in a spa with you dressed like a ballerina.
Emma burst out laughing at this reply and she makes her way to her room. Where she continues to message Regina.
Maybe I am, Maybe I'm not.
Regina purses her lips. whilst realising, that Emma is messing with her.
She then thinks about not replying, as she usually wouldn't keep texting someone, but this was Emma, and she feels compelled to carry on this conversation by text.
Well, if you are not joking. I shall disown you and we will go our separate ways.
Emma pouts at this message.
You wouldn't do that. Who else would put up with your sass.
Regina smirks.
Well, Maybe Miss Lucas would.
Emma now frowns at this text and suddenly feels a tad jealous.
Ruby wouldn't be your dorky sidekick.
Regina smiles.
That is true and we can't have you, losing your glamourous friend can we.
Emma chuckles at this and begins to type her reply.
You are glamourous and more.
Regina smiles widely.
Flattery will get you nowhere Miss Swan.
Well, what if I said you are the most interesting person in this town. That talking to you, makes my day better.
Regina melts at this one.
That's very sweet of you to say dear.
Emma beams and she feels like, she is trying to woo Regina by text.
Thanks, anyway, what are you up to tonight?
Regina sighs and then types her reply.
I'm just in my study. Having a glass of wine and unwinding from a long day. How about you?
Emma bites her lip.
Sounds nice. I'm just at my parents. We've just had dinner and now I'm texting you.
Regina smiles.
What did you have for dinner?
Sheperd's pie.
Regina snorts at this text. How ironic, she thinks to herself. Then she gets another message from Emma.
Not as nice as your Lasagna though.
Regina beams.
There you go with the compliments again. I'm beginning to think your battering me up for something. A raise maybe?
Emma chuckles.
A raise would be great :) but I'm not fishing for anything Regina. I just wanted you to know.
Regina sighs happily.
Thank you and on another note, I thought you'd like to know, that I have started writing in the journal you brought me for my birthday.
Emma raises an eyebrow at this text in surprise.
NO WAY! really? that's great. What did you write?
Regina rolls her eyes playfully.
I am not telling you. It's a private journal.
Emma just smiles and texts back.
Okay. I'm just glad you liked it and that you have started something, that you have always wanted to do. Another thing to cross off your bucket list.
Regina ponders for a moment.
Bucket list? I think Henry told me about that. Is it experiences or achievements that a person hopes to have or accomplish during their life?
Yes, that's it. Our son is quite clever you know.
Regina couldn't agree more and then receives another message from Emma.
You know, this might sound weird but sometimes I forget Neal is his father because it feels like I had him with you. He takes after you in so many ways.
Regina's mouth parts and her eyes widen at this confession.
She's speechless and two minutes later, she receives another text.
I've freaked you out, haven't I? I am an idiot, as you often call me. Just ignore that last message.
Regina swallows thickly and begins to reply.
No, you haven't freaked me out Emma. I just am surprised is all and kind of flattered that you would think that.
Emma sighs in relief and begins to type.
Thanks, I'm glad you think that. Are you looking forward to Friday?
Regina smiles.
Yes. I need some knots that need sorting in my shoulders and neck. How about you?
I'm looking forward to the champagne and snacks.
Regina smirks.
Of course, you are.
They better be good snacks.
I'm sure they will be
Emma sighs and ponders for a moment, before asking a question.
Would you like me to bring you lunch tomorrow to your office say 1pm? maybe we could have lunch together.
Regina smiles widely at this text.
Yes. That would be nice. Can you make it 1.30? as I have an appointment at 12.30 that I think will overrun?
Great :) 1.30 is good. What can I get you from the diner?
Surprise me.
Emma chuckles.
Grilled cheese and fries it is then.
She jokes and Regina shakes her head at this text.
We shall not be having lunch, if you bring that Miss Swan. You eat like a child.
Emma chuckles.
Yeah, I know. I was only joking. I'll see you tomorrow at 1.30 madame mayor.
Don't be late.
Wouldn't dream of it...
Goodnight Emma.
Goodnight Regina...
A/N Hope you all liked this chapter; I thought it was kind of sweet and a little flirty next one is the spa date.
