I was stuck on standby, as was Shoji, until Gang Orca called us in again. It was irritating, like being gipped or something.
In the meantime I caught up with studies. Yaomomo's study parties were back on again, and I grinned a bit as I joined her.
"Hm...fifteen, sixteen...if Mrs. Zenzu had thirteen apples and took away four..."
"Wouldn't you dump four if you were married to Zenzu?"
"Hello, Jirou," she smiled at me.
"Hey. Tea?"
"Thank you ever so."
"Still pouring over books and doing it by hand? There are some nice computer things you know, nowadays."
"I like to see it physically."
"How was your work study?"
"A little rough," she said quietly. "I wasn't able to save anyone and the villain got away."
"That's too bad."
"I just wish I had some idea what I could have done differently."
"The only thing that matters is doing better next time," I reminded her. She smiled and returned to her studies.
The next day in class, it seemed half our classmates were out doing work studies. Of course, two of our classmates couldn't do taht at all...
"Whats up with Bakugou? Another fight?" asked AShido as he walked in covered in bandaes.
"Try to keep up girls," said Kaminari. "Have a look at Todoroki."
"Wah! What a waste of those good looks!" cried Mina, staring at Todoroki's similarly bandaged up face. "What happened?"
"Guess the provisional license course is running them ragged," I muttered.
"I didn't know it'd be so physically grueling!" said Kaminari.
"Enough gossipping ya jerks!" yelled Bakugou.
Iida called out in annoyance, "Class is about to begin! Where are Uraraka and Tsuyu?"
"Excused absences, president," said Yaomomo.
"Looks like the boys are missing Kirishima," I added.
Everyone was bothering Midoriya about his work study. Later that week, Kirishima even debuted big time, getting Kaminari all excited again.
"Your name! Your hero name's in the news!" he called out to him, and Bakugou was there grumbling in the background.
"TSuyu, Uraraka! This is too cool! Your names' here too!" was Mina's addition, as mea nd Yaomomo looked over the news on the internet. "New recruits at the Ryukyu agency"
"Heh - pretty exciting I guess!" blushed Uraraka.
"Where'd they get that picture from?" askeed Tsu.
"I love it! Bet you've laready got hordes of fans, just like Mt Lady!" Mina smiled.
"Provisional licenses or not, we are now heroes when we step onto those mean streets. Wonderful job!" Iida told them. "But a student's primary concern is academics! No slacking off now!"
"Gotcha, Iida!" said Kirishima, who this was mainly directed at. "We're ready to learn and all that."
"Yeah!" added Midoriya.
"You suck at school, though," Kaminari told Kirishima. "You gonna be ok?"
"SEnsei's gonna be giving me some extra lessons," Kirishima explained. "Maybe I should join you?" dded SEro. "KEeping up this doulbe life is tough."
"Everyone learns at their own pace," Yaomomo interjected.
"You always know just what to say!" Kaminari smiled at her.
I grinned. And tried to shake off that nervous feeling about Tigress. Spending time with my classmates does help remind me - everyhing we do counts. And in the end, things often turn out ok. As long as you still have your friends to hang with.
But why hasn't he called me in yet?
