Riley's car
The small little picnic with Riley had been fun. Riley made sure to bring all her favorite cravings and the conversation was light. Which Buffy was grateful for, she had her doubts about letting Riley into her life, but she was starting to be happy that she did. She cared for him, but could she really learn to love him if it came to that? "Hey what's going on in that head of yours?" Buffy seemed as if she was lost in thought and Riley wanted to know exactly what was going on in there. Buffy looked over at Riley and gave him a weak smile/ "Nothing really, I'm just full and a little sleepy." She responded she did not want to tell him her true thoughts, one of them being how she wished it were Angel here with her taking her back home after a picnic. "Well being full is a good thing and there will be more of that to come." Buffy reached over and grabbed his hand and squeezed she could do this she could make this work. The baby needs a father that wants to be there, Riley wants to be there for them both so she can do this. If not for herself but for her baby.
Angels Apartment
After telling Angel everything from Buffy remembering the lost day from the very start and how Buffy came to find out she was pregnant Willow felt as if Angel was all caught up on all things Buffy and baby. Did she feel bad for spilling the beans yes, but she strongly felt Angel had the right to make the choice himself if he wanted to be involved or not and by his reactions, she could tell he did want to be involved. She worried what her and Buffy's friendship would look like once Buffy found out she was the one who told angel about the baby. Angel on the other hand felt as if he had been staked in the heart and thrown into the sun at the same time. He could not wrap his mind around the fact that he was going to be a father and not just to any baby but to his and Buffy's baby. He decided that he would go to Sunnydale and beg if he had to for Buffy to take him back so that they could figure out some way to make this work. Their child needed them to make this work. No, he could not do all the normal father things like take the baby to the beach or to their first day of school but there were other things he could do and suddenly he felt very annoyed with himself for getting rid of the Gem of Amora. There was also the conversation that needed to be had about where they would live. Was the mansion a place for a baby? Or should they look for other arrangements and what about Buffy's slaying that was definitely going to need to take a backseat until the baby was here. There was also the thought of asking Buffy to be his wife. When he was human all those years ago getting a woman pregnant before marriage was a sure way to bring her shame and even though times had changed, he did not want anyone to have any reason to look down on her, but would she really take him back that easy. He was not sure and if he was honest that scared him.
Back at the Summers house
Buffy had invited Riley in and they both cuddled up on the couch watching some cheesy lifetime movie. Riley was playing with stands of Buffy's hair when he spoke up. "So, I was thinking about something, and I don't want to scare you at all but I feel like it doesn't hurt to ask..." Buffy sat up and looked into his eyes giving him a look that says go on. "What would you say if I asked you to move in with me? I figure if we are going to be together raising the baby it would make things a little easier if we were all under one roof." Buffy felt sick to her stomach she felt like things were moving way to fast "Riley.." But before she could contine he went on "Im not asking for your hand in marriage Buffy..i mean one day in the future yes I plan to but im just asking to make things easier on us.." He had a hopeful smile. Buffy leaned over and gave him a kiss. "Let me talk to my mom and see what she thinks, we already have a nursery set up here and I don't want that to go to waste." She could not produce a better excuse that was a huge next step that he was asking her to make. "Thats fine we could even take the stuff from the nursery here and put it in the second bedroom at my house and make our own little nursery. That way no one's money is wasted." She gave him a weak smile "Sure Riley we will see, I'll let you know" *Phone rings*
Buffy got off the couch and answered the phone. "Hey, Xander, what's up?" She was so happy for this interruption " Buffster how is little Tinker doing?" Surprisingly Xander had taken her pregnancy news way better than she had expected him to. Part of that being because she had yet to tell him and Giles who the father was, she knew if he found out it was Angels he would lose his mind, but he was happy for her seeing how he had an awful homelife he felt as if his true family was the scoobies and was happy they were getting a brand-new member "He or she is doing great. So what's the what?" "Well I was wondering if you had seen Willow today? I swung by her dorm room and she was not there." "Oh, she told me she was planning on spending some time with her parents since they are in town this week so check there." "Alright well I will see you later tonight at Giles place." Buffy walked on over to the couch and snuggled back into Riley "What was that about?" He asked while burying his face back in her hair "HE was just looking for Willow." After finishing their movie Buffy got off Riley. "I'm wanting to really stretch out and take a nap." She was not trying to kick him out but she was truly tired. "Well, if you do not mind, I was wondering if we could just nap together?" Buffy just wanted to nap alone but then thought better of it, because if she was going to make this work, she had to let him in. "Yeah that's fine lets go." Buffy grabbed some shorts and a tank top from her closet and went to the bathroom to change. She came back in and found Riley with his shirt off and snuggled under the covers. Buffy gave him a smile and joined him laying on her side as she felt Riley pressed up against her back and cradling her bump but before she could protest, she was already in dreamland.
Later on outside of the summers house:
Angel had dropped will off at the dorm and now it was time to talk to Buffy. He was going to knock on the front door but noticed all the lights were off so he did what he did years before and climbed up the tree and into the window and that's when it hit him. The sound of three heart beats not the two the he expected of Buffy and and his baby but of buffy the baby and a shirtless boy. Not knowing what to do or even how to feel Angel left without being seen or heard. Willow had lightly mentioned that Buffy was mildly involved with someone but he didn't expect to find that someone in her bed.
