Olympus: Temple of Aphrodite
"NO!" The Goddess of Love's voice boomed throughout her temple. "NO! LIKE CHAOS WILL I ACCEPT THIS! WHY WOULD YOU EVEN SUGGEST THAT?!"
Athena, unfazed from Aphrodite's outburst, having expected something like this, sighed as she crossed her arms. here she was, the Goddess of Wisdom, in the Goddess of Love's temple. Athena had never been here, mostly because Aphrodite's temple was always busy with the likes of orgies and Aphrodite screwing Ares or whatever gets the Goddess of Love's attention at the time. Though lately it's not been like that, hasn't been for the past few years actually.
In fact. Aphrodite stopped her orgies and sexual time with Ares not long after she left Drake.
"Aphrodite, listen." Athena said sternly with a frown as her stormy grey eyes glared at the Goddess of Love.
Aphrodite flared her power, which Athena thought was surprisingly powerful, "How can you of all people ask me to do something so stupid?!" She walked up to the Wisdom Goddess and glared at her, "You were the one who fell for Drake first and were angry at me for taking him and you think he's a great father for Annabeth; with all that I actually thought you still had feelings for him!"
"I do, Aphrodite, but this is for his own good." Athena levelled her grey eyes at the other goddess, flaring her own power. "He deserves to be happy, Aphrodite. Would you forbid him from that?" At that, Aphrodite looked away, crossing her arms. "Drake deserves to be happy, the girls need a mother figure in their lives."
"A stepmother wouldn't be that." Aphrodite scoffed. "How many times have Demigod children had to suffer a stepparent who believed they were bringing danger into the household? Because of that, many Demigods leave home and go on the run. I will not have that happen to my daughter, and I'm certain you wouldn't want to see Annabeth on the streets."
Athena glared at her. "I'm certain Drake wouldn't allow that to happen. He loves the girls too much to let them be homeless and they are his own children. He wouldn't do that."
"No, but the stepmother would push and push and force him to do so." Aphrodite said, turning away from the Goddess of Wisdom. "I will not have him live such a live with a woman that doesn't care for the girls just because they are the children of another woman. No, I won't accept it."
"What, do you plan to just waltz back into his life like you didn't leave him for the past few years?" Athena scoffed. "Even if you manage to explain everything to Drake and he falls in love with you again, do you know what Ares and Hephaestus would do to him?"
"W-Well, I'm sure they won-"
"Be realistic, Aphrodite; we've already affected his life enough; we should just find a suitable woman for him and have him life a happy and normal life." Athena sighed at Aphrodite's crestfallen expression and the sadness in her eyes. "I know you love him, perhaps even more so than your other lovers, but this is the best we can offer him."
"But…I still…"
"We don't have a choice." Athena placed a comforting hand on the Love Goddess' shoulder and closed her eyes. "There are many good women around him we could pair him with."
"Athena, Aphrodite?"
The two goddesses' eyes widened at the familiar voice of the man they were current discussing. "D-Drake?" muttered Aphrodite. "What's this?"
Athena smiled softly. "He's praying to us."
In the decade of being a father, Drake has never really prayed to Aphrodite and Athena. Sure, they told him that, if he wanted to speak to them then he could pray to them, but... he had never done so. Maybe it was because of nervousness or fear, he wasn't sure. A long time had passed, but deep inside his heart, he knew that he still had feelings for them. Athena, the brilliant and confident woman who challenged and attracted him at an intellectual level, and Aphrodite, the most passionate, loving and beautiful woman he had ever laid eyes on. It was not hard to believe their statuses as goddesses; they were just that glorious and beautiful.
God, his heart skipped beats just by thinking about them.
So here he was, in his bedroom, on his knees at his bed. His hands were clasped in the praying position. Yeah, this was for the Christianity religion, but he didn't know the Greek version of praying so he'll go with what he knows.
"Athena, Aphrodite?" He began, wondering if they can hear him from Olympus. He went to speak but... words were lost. He didn't know what to say. He inhaled before he noticed something out the corner of his eyes and looked at it. It was a picture of him, Annabeth and Lacy when he had taken them to Coney Island beach last year and had someone take a picture of the three together. The girls had loved that day, their smiles made him smile.
Looking at the picture, he had the words. "Thank you."
Unknown to him, the two goddesses heard him perfectly and were surprised at his words.
"Thank you for giving me the two most precious things in my life." He rose to his feet and grabbed the picture, "Thank you for giving me my little princesses." He lay on his bed and held the picture above his face, smiling at how happy his daughter looked. "They are perfect."
Olympus: Temple of Aphrodite
"Oh Drake." Aphrodite smiled at hearing her lover's voice after so long. She sat on her sofa in a daze.
Athena sat next to the Love Goddess and smiled along. "He really loves the girls."
"I'm sorry that I haven't prayed as much as I really wish I had. I just... didn't know what I could say." Drake's voice rang true in the minds of Athena and Aphrodite. "But I still remember both of you very well!"
"Still as loud and playful as ever," chirped Aphrodite.
"Athena, gotta admit that I miss those gray eyes of yours, especially when you are annoyed and glare at me with them, scares the hell out of me. It's the same with Annabeth, she's definitely gotten a lot from you."
"I should hope so." Athena had a large smile on her face.
"Aphrodite... clearly our daughter has inherited your taste for sweets and candy, because she will not stop going through them like her life is on the line! I swear, she's going to end up at the Dentist one of these days."
"Oh no, make sure she doesn't go there!" Aphrodite said, even though he couldn't hear her.
"I swear, I'm certain you two would love our daughters. Annabeth already loves architecture and beats me at chess; I bet she'll give you a run for your money soon, Athena." The Wisdom Goddess smiled and nodded fondly. "Lacy, like I said, acts a little too much like you, Aphrodite. She eats way too much candy and jumps and skips around when she has too much sugar. But no matter what, I will allow no boys to date her before she's eighteen; I have a shotgun ready to enforce that rule."
"Awe, that's no fun."
"I guess what I'm trying to say is... we made two great looking kids, and I love them so very much as i'm sure you two would and do. They've got good friends at school and their grades are good, they attend each day so there's no me keeping them off unless it's because they're ill or something like that. And um... oh, they also want pets. They asked me after we watched a few dog films like 101 Dalmatians and Scooby Doo."
Athena and Aphrodite smiled fondly, missing Drake more and more with each passing word.
"Annabeth wants a German Shepard, claiming they are very protective dogs and good companions, which I agree with. Lacy wants a Golden Retriver. Maybe I should go find pups of these two types and get them."
"Oh yes! Lacy would love that!"
"As would Annabeth."
"And another thing, a... monster was at Lacy and Annabeth's school today."
"WHAT?!" Aphrodite and Athena shouted, flaring their power with worry. They hadn't noticed the slight pause in Drake's voice. Considering Aphrodite and Athena don't know that Drake is half-demon and hunts demons for a living, he just went with calling the demon a monster.
"It wasn't so bad; I managed to kill it, but I hope these attacks won't get worse."
Athena was shocked, "Drake actually managed to kill a monster?"
"I happen to have... a good set of skills that helped me. I did take Mixed Martial arts when I was younger. Anyway, I just wanted to catch up, wondering if you two ever think about me." Athena frowned and Aphrodite bit her lips as her heart stung. "I promise I will speak with you two more from now on." He sighed and climbed under his covers. "Goodnight Athena, Aphrodite."
The two goddesses looked at each other, silent. With so very few words, Drake reminded them of the times they shared with him, when they were still in his life... and it made them miss him even more. Even Athena felt a little worse at the thought of another woman being in his life.
"I'm not going to put him with another woman, Athena." Aphrodite said softly as she stood. "I will find a way to make him happy, but I won't let him love a random woman. Nothing you say or do will change my mind."
As she walked away, Athena sighed and muttered quietly to herself. "I know. But I want him to be happy to..."
And that's it for this chapter.
