Chapter 5 : The dinner
AN: I am so sorry to all my lovely readers for not uploading in so long . Life just got the better of me and I have been very busy with friends and family. Again thanks to all my readers for their support.
But without further ado chapter 5
Mirabel was helping her mother in La Cocina washing and drying dishes since the family had just finished having breakfast and went off to do their regular things. While Mirabel was helping her mother a topic that she most dreaded came out of her mother's mouth when she spoke.
"Why don't you invite your Novio over to dinner tonight. You know get to know him a little better ". Julieta explained
"No No No No absolutely not ". Mirabel replied
"Porque Mija?" Julieta asked
"Because the family will start acting all weird around him especially Tio Bruno you have seen how he gets when I bring Daniel into the situation his eyes start glowing green when he starts getting jealous or overprotective ". Mirabel explained
"I know Mija but he's just doing it because he loves you . You do trust your Tio right ? He just wants to see you happy safe and protected, you are his Mariposa favorita youngest sombrina and you should trust him". Julieta replied honestly
"Por supuesto mama and you are right I should trust Tio Bruno I am his Mariposa and I know he loves me so much and he just wants to take care of me and I know he won't do something that could hurt me or something that is uncomfortable ". Mirabel exclaimed
"Exactly Mi Niña trust your Tio he'll do the right thing". Julieta said
"Yo se mama." Mirabel replied
Just then Bruno had come downstairs to ask Mirabel to help him in town and help fix his ruana because he ripped it trying to reach for something the other day.
"Hola Mariposa y hermana what are you talking about"? Bruno asked
"Oh Tio didn't see you there we were just talking about things you know mother-daughter talk." Mirabel explained
"Actually hermano we were just talking about having Mirabel's Novio over for dinner tonight you know get to know everybody properly you know aside from the magical gifts". Julieta explained
"That is muy bien". Bruno said through gritted teeth trying to sound convincing to his Mariposa. At that point Bruno wanted to grab a fork and stab himself in the hand to make sure it wasn't real but decided against it.
"Estas bien Tio you zoned out for a minute are you sure your okay?" Mirabel questioned
" Uh si si I'm fine Mira". Bruno replied
"Good now did you need me for something or did you just come to say Hola ". Mirabel asked politely
Actually si… I need your help fixing my ruana I accidentally tripped trying to reach for something. I also need you to help me in town you won't mind helping me would you?" Bruno questioned
Ay ay ay si I will help you BUT this is only because I love you and I know how clumsy you can be. You really are Mi Tio who is the biggest klutz on earth aren't you?" Mirabel sighed
"Forever and always Mariposa ". Bruno replied
"Bueno now let's get that ruana fixed before heading into town don't want you tripping everywhere do we now?" Mirabel questioned
"Si" Bruno laughed
"Oh before we go mama make sure to get some rest today you deserve it don't want you overworked si?" Mirabel said as she kissed her mother on the cheek and gave her a quick hug.
"Si make sure to be careful you two". Julieta yelled across La Cocina
"We will". They both replied
And as they went off Julieta rolled her eyes and smiled softly at her daughter and her hermano's deep close relationship that was unique and special in every way. She shook herself out of thought and went back to putting the dishes back in the cabinets (with the help of casita Of course).
~~~ In town ~~~
Mirabel and Bruno were talking and laughing about Bruno's latest telenovela. When suddenly Daniel caught mirabel's eye and she started acting all giddy and excited.
"Woah what's gotten you excited all of the sudden Mariposa?" Bruno questioned and looked to where Mirabel was looking and there was Daniel standing there as he eyed Daniel for a second and then looked towards Mirabel.
"Go". Bruno said a little sad.
"De verdad I really don't want to leave you here I promised I'd help you". Mirabel replied with the same sadness in her voice as Bruno.
"Its fine Mira I can do this on my own it is my job after all go I will be fine". Bruno said as he waved his hand.
"Muchas gracias Tío". Mirabel said
And then just as she was about to run to catch up to Daniel she stopped and looked back to her Tio to give him a quick hug.
"Que Mariposa ." Bruno said surprised
"Muchas gracias Tío for the support I really appreciate it . It means so much to me I love you so much and I am glad you are back in the family ". Mirabel replied honestly
Bruno felt like he was about to cry and held her as tight as he could before letting go.
You Mirabel Madrigal are the Mariposa of my world and I am glad to be back. Now go before you loose him I will be at the Ramirez's house if you need me ok"?
"Si Te amo Tío Bruno ". Mirabel replied
As Mirabel skipped off excitedly Bruno couldn't help but wonder how she had grown into a fine young woman with a cheery disposition and generous and kind nature just like her mama but then he shook those thoughts out of his head and got back to work before he missed his clients appointment.
~~~ In the town square~~~
Daniel was talking to one of his amigos when suddenly he turned to his Novia panting and puffed from all the running she did to catch up with him.
"Hola Beautiful. " Daniel said smugly
"I… need… to … talk to …. You ". Mirabel exclaimed trying to get her breath back
"Woah woah slow down Amor catch your breath first and then we can talk. Daniel replied
He quickly said goodbye to his amigo and led Mirabel to a private corner in the town square behind the café.
"So what's up". Daniel asked
Once Mirabel caught her breath she spoke:
"I wanted to ask you if you wanted to come to dinner tonight Mi famila just wants to get to know you better and I think it might be nice but it's up to you your choice ". Mirabel asked
"I would love to go I mean it would be nice to get to know your family better besides having magical gifts and all". Daniel replied
"De verdad?" Mirabel replied
"Si" Daniel simply said
"Well I will see you tonight then handsome ". Mirabel laughed
"You too gorgeous ". Daniel smugly replied
~~~ Back with Bruno ~~~
Bruno had just finished up working for the day. When he saw Mirabel running to him
"Woah woah slow down Mariposa que pasa?" Bruno questioned
"He said yes". Mirabel replied
"He said what?" Bruno asked stunned
"He said yes to the dinner Tio Bruno ". Mirabel said
"Oh that's great Mija ". Bruno replied while trying to not get angry

Bruno's thoughts: I can't wait to find out who he is because if he hurts mi Mariposa he is going to have bad visions for the rest of his days. She is still so young yet one of these days we are going to have to tell her she is the new leader of the Encanto. But enough about that is he trying to take advantage of her? Oh stop that Bruno be happy for her she trusts you and loves you.

"Tio are you okay You zoned out for a while there". Mirabel asked
"Hm? .. oh oh si estas bien Mira". Bruno replied
"Just promise me something ". Mirabel said
Hm? Anything Mariposa". Bruno exclaimed
"Promise me you will behave tonight no overprotective Tio tonight and try to control your eyes and think before you speak ". Mirabel explained
"I promise Mija ". Bruno said while smiling and clung to her arm as they walked back to casita.
~~~ Back at casita ~~~
"Okay everyone attention please Mi Novio is coming over for dinner tonight . So Isa you're on decorations , Mama and Tia you're in charge of food . Prima,primos,Tio's and papa please set up the table . Just remember be yourselves BUT try not to act weird when he gets here bien"?
"Si Mira". They all answered
"Bueno now if anyone needs me I will be up in my room getting ready ". Mirabel said
~~~ 2 hours later ~~~
Everyone was all set for the dinner the Cocina was filled with many delicious dishes and Isa had done all the decorations including adding some new plants to make it more festive. The table was all set up and ready to go.
But Isabela was curious about what was taking her hermana so long so she decided to check on her.
"Mama , Tia I am going to check on Mira okay?" Isa said
"Okay Mija ". Julieta replied
~~~ upstairs ~~~
When Isa went to Mirabel's room . She found Mira looking frazzled. Her hair was a mess her dress was wrinkled and her makeup was smudged all over her face.
"Oh Isa …I-I was just getting ready ". Mirabel explained
"Yes I can see that". Isabela said sarcastically
"Do you want to talk about it and have some help?" Isabela questioned
"Si." Mirabel simply replied
"So what's on your mind hermana ?" Isabela asked whilst grabbing a hairbrush and started to brush Mira 's hair
"Well I am just worried what if the dinner doesn't go right what if Camilo starts playing games and trying to creep him out". Mirabel said
"Well first of all if that happens I will grab him by the ear and plant a flower on his mouth to shut him up, second of all don't think like that Daniel loves you he wouldn't do this if he didn't . " Isabela replied
"Says the girl who got her proposal dinner ruined by me with Tio's vision of casita ". Mirabel laughed
"Hey that was different I did not want to marry Mariano don't get me wrong he is a nice guy BUT I would have been forced to do something that I didn't want to do. I never thanked you for that by the way so Muchas Gracias hermanita ". Isabela exclaimed
"De nada hermana you know the old you would have smacked me over the head with a rose and we would not be having this conversation ". Mirabel laughed
"I guess that's true". Isabela laughed
As they talked Isa sorted her sister out. It was nice to bond with Mira.
~~~ Downstairs ~~~
The table was set up and Alma had to smack Camilo for trying to lick the cake. Bruno was so happy how everything turned out great and he was going to put his anger aside and just be happy for his Mariposa .
Just then Mirabel came Downstairs with Isabela in a light blue dress a purple headband to keep her hair in place. Black flat shoes and golden earrings for accessories. Bruno was just smiling happily as he looked at his youngest sombrina looking so mature.
"You look beautiful mi vida ". Pepa said
"Muchas gracias Tia " Mirabel replied
"Now everyone please don't be afraid to be yourself BUT don't be silly and creep Daniel out". Mirabel was looking at Camilo as she said this.
Just then there was a knock at the door and the family started getting all giddy and Alma gently took control of the situation and raised her hands to signal everyone to calm down. Mirabel was the most nervous she was shaking until someone put a hand on her shoulder she looked up to see it was her Tio smiling down at her and mouthing the words 'it's going to be okay'. Mirabel just smiled and kindly asked her abuela to open the door .
"Hola señor Rodríguez we are so happy you have accepted our invitation to have you for dinner". Alma greeted
"The pleasure is all mine señora Madrigal ". Daniel replied
"Come sit we have delicious food prepared I hope you enjoy ". Alma guided everyone to the table as casita pulled out some chairs and everyone started eating their food and for a moment their was complete silence until someone finally spoke . Surprisingly it was Bruno.
"So Daniel when did you meet our Mariposa ". He asked
"Well Actually I met her while I was working at the Library I had some books to deliver. I was a refugee to The Encanto when I first came here and my parents had died in a massive fire in my town". Daniel said
"I am sorry ". Julieta said sympathetically
"No it's alright I managed to survive so that's the good side always think positive señora Madrigal and you always get through life the way you see it". Daniel exclaimed
"Muchas Gracias for the advice señor ". Julieta replied
"Anytime señora". Daniel replied
"Okay now where was I … Oh yes so I was just putting the last book on the top shelf and I almost tripped when I saw this beauty walk in. Now I didn't know she was part of this family because I was new in town. Anyways I saw her handing a handmade dress to Señora Hernandez when she looked at me and smiled I drop the book I was holding and crashed straight into a bookshelf on the way out. Let's just say Tu hija and I became very good friends that day.
"Alright that's enough you know you always exaggerate the story every time you tell people how we met".
"Well it's true isn't it you are gorgeous and kind I don't mind exaggerating the story to tell people how increíble you are". Daniel smugly said

Bruno's thoughts: how smug can he be? I want to grab him by the collar and say that he isn't good for Mi Mariposa. Next thing you know he's going to ask her to marry him . Oh oh No not on my watch she is to young"! Slow down Bruno you are jumping to conclusions just enjoy her being happy for once. Oh no don't pick up the fork. Too late!!

Then Bruno picked up the fork and stabbed himself in the hand as that was happening Mirabel was talking to Isa and Daniel when Bruno let out a scream of pain.
"Hermano are you okay!!" Julieta panicked
"Estas bien Julie really ". Bruno replied
"Disculpe a moment I just need to help Bruno a second I will be back with the drinks". Julieta said
"Okay Mija ". Alma replied
~~~ In La Cocina with Bruno and Julieta ~~~
"Are you serious Bruno this is a big night for Mira and all of the sudden this happens . Ay you could have injured yourself this was a stupido thing to do are you that worried about her"! Julieta yelled
"YES I AM BECAUSE I HAVE MISSED SO MUCH OF HER LIFE AND I WAS STUPID ENOUGH TO RUN AWAY AND LEAVE AND NOW SHE IS GROWNG BEFORE MY EYES . SO YES OF COURSE I AM WORRIED HERMANA". Bruno yelled
"Sssh keep your voice down . Look I know you are worried but she can't just stay Tu pequeña sombrina for ever . I am worried for her too trust me but we have to learn to trust her and the decisions she makes and she will always come to us and we will always support her comprendo?" Julieta explained
"Si hermana I understand ". Bruno replied
He looked sad but he knew she was right as she was not the little girl that he once knew but a beautiful woman who is kind and gentle and courageous and he was just happy to be spending this much time with her.
Then Julieta came up and hugged her brother tight and looking at him for a few seconds before Julieta asked him to grab the drinks and they headed out.
~~~ Back in the dining room~~~
"Tío are You Okay!?" Mirabel exclaimed
" Estas bien Niña ". Bruno replied
The rest of the nights was just Daniel telling jokes about Mirabel and talking and dancing with the rest of the family of course Bruno did I not approve but he had to put his anger aside he couldn't help but smile at Niña happy and dancing in Daniel's arms

Bruno's thoughts: maybe I could get used to Daniel I mean if Mi Mariposa is happy maybe I can trust him BUT IF HE HURTS HER HE IS DEAD. Oh stop Bruno look how happy she is. Your right I shouldn't be angry I am happy for her I really am.
Just as Daniel was about to leave he asked if he could be Mirabel's chamberlain and she said yes and he picked her up and twirled her around and everyone gave cheers and applause as he left she kissed on him on the check and he walked out the door.
"Well everyone I think that very well thank you all so much for doing this for doing this for me . But now I think it's about time we all clean up and head to bed si?"
"Si". They all agreed
"Knock knock Mira it is your Tio can I come in ".
"Si". She replied
Actually I wanted to talk to you. Muchas gracias for your support Tío it means a lot and te amo mucho I am surprised your eyes didn't glow". She laughed
"Ha ha very funny Mira yes I did promise didn't I ? Besides you did very well yourself and I saw how happy you are with Daniel and I just want you to know how proud and happy I am Of you".
"Gracias Tio ". Mirabel replied
"Te amo Mariposa now get some sleep . Te amo mucho Buenos noches ".
"Buenos noches Tío te amo mucho ". Mirabel replied
As Bruno gently closed the door he Let out a silent cry as his Mariposa was finally growing up and he couldn't be happier he had all the time in the world with .
"God is she is so precious" he whispered as he walked away
