Bakugo was up bright and early today, it was time for him to retry the provisional license exam. Thinking back to it... That exam should have been his first hint that something was seriously wrong with his outlook on others. The more he thought about it, the more depressed he became "... Have I really done anything to change?" He said, looking at his hands.
Hound Dog put a hand on his shoulder "That's what we need to find out. Now come on. Get ready"
After a nice breakfast, getting dressed and grabbing his hero costume. Bakugo and Hound Dog went outside to be greeted by Both Shoto Todoroki and All Might.
Bakugo immediately felt very uncomfortable and very embarrassed and was debating on quitting this whole endeavor.
"Hound Dog" All Might started "I'll be taking Bakugo with me and evaluating him."
Hound Dog loved All Might, but he knew he had a job to do in monitoring his students training "I'll only say this once... I need to see how he performs. I'm his current teacher, I'm going to see how this goes."
All Might sighed "Gotcha. Come on then"
As All Might guided them. Todoroki couldn't seem to take his eyes off Bakugo. It made Bakugo extremely self conscious and he wanted nothing more than for Todoroki to do literally anything else.
Todoroki finally began with "You seem different"
Bakugo was immediately confused and turned to Todoroki with that expression. "What do you mean?
Todoroki hummed for a bit before turning back and walking. Leaving Bakugo confused and puzzled.
At this same time. Izuku and Mina were getting breakfast ready. Izuku looked to Mina who had a huge grin on her face. "You seem awfully cheerful today"
Mina chuckled "Two kids we babysit are coming to school with us. It's gonna be fun!"
Izuku nodded "Speaking of which, do you mind waking them up?"
Mina shook her head "Nope. I'll be right back." With that, Mina made her way to Eri's room. She was kinda surprised that she and Izuku weren't woken up by one or both of them by the middle of the night. Hopefully everything worked out though. Once she opened the door though... She saw just how well it all had worked out.
Eri's forehead was lightly pressed into Kota's chest. The boy had his arms around the girl and both had light smiles on their faces as they slept. Mina wanted to squeal at how cute they looked but didn't want to ruin this moment... That is, until the idea to take pictures came into her head.
After taking a few pics though, she finally nudged them both gently until they started groaning. Both kids immediately rubbed their eyes and looked each other in their faces. Blushes overtook their faces as they realized how awkward this was... Then they saw Mina's grin and Kota immediately backed up and hit his head against the wall "Gah!"
Kota then held the back of his head in pain a bit as Mina was holding back an army of laughter.
Eri didn't see what was so wrong, though it was weird being so close to Kota. She felt her cheek grow hot just from thinking about it and panicked before looking at Mina "Mama! My head feels hot!"
Mina chuckled a bit "Oh? Are you sick or something?" Mina then lifted up some of her own hair and pressed her forehead to Eri's "Hmmm nah your good. Might just be from waking up so quick."
Eri quickly caught her breath as both girls then looked to Kota who was a blushing mess. "Oh? Is Kota sick?" Eri then went over and slowly inched closer as both she and Kota we're turning red by the moment. Finally though, Eri couldn't take it anymore and backed away "I-I can't do it"
Mina chuckled "Don't worry, Eri. He's not sick. I can tell. Now come on, let's go get some breakfast before school"
"Okay!" Eri said, following Mina to the kitchen.
Meanwhile, Kota was having an inner panick attack "These people are gonna kill me..."
Finally, after a delicious breakfast, everyone was in their proper classes. Kota was a bit nervous as he stood next to Aizawa for his introduction.
"Everyone, I'm sure you all remember Kota. If not, just know that Midoriya and Ashido are looking after him as a favor for pro hero Mandalay. I'd ask you not to gossip about this but I know you will. Just keep this a Class 1A thing." He then looked to Kota, you get to have a desk next to Eri" the desk was also upfront next to Aizawa's.
Kota nodded and went to sit next to Eri who gave a light smile. he tried looking away from her only to see Mina in the desk across from them. "W-Why are you right there?!"
Mina chuckled "Teach decided to switch Bakugo and I's seats so Midori and I can watch Eri better"
Aizawa sighed "Enough... Now, I have another announcement. It's time for the school culture festival."
'Something normal school-like!' all the students said in their heads.
The following was utter chaos as every individual had an idea which none of the others wanted to participate in. Eri , who was more used to the class, chuckled at all their antics. While the newcomer, Kota, was wondering if this was really what their school was like.
Eri enjoyed watching the class perform a downward spiral seeing as they all were in hysterics. However, Eri noticed one person who wasn't participating, her big sis, Kyouka Jirou.
From the looks of it, Jirou was thinking about what to do for this whole thing. It wasn't until Kaminari got in her personal space that she finally snapped to attention.
Eri thought about Jirou for the rest of the classes, even while Midnight fawned over her for most of the duration of the art class.
Before she knew it, it was lunch time, and she had suddenly thought up a great idea. Uraraka, Iida, Asui, and the rest of her family all sat at one of the larger tables. Everyone else was either talking or eating. Eri, though, was still looking for Jirou until finally, she saw her sitting all by herself.
Eri wanted to go over and talk to her but there were so many students around that she was too nervous to do so. So eventually she started making hand signals, trying to get Jirou's attention.
Jirou was sitting at her table of one thinking about what everyone would like to do for the festival. She wanted to really push her concert idea but she didn't even think it would work. Mina is really the only dancer, though she's sure Momo and Todoroki know more elegant forms of dance. Then there was the issue of instruments. She couldn't play them all at once so she'd have to hope her classmates knew some level of music.
All of this thinking started making the young heroes head hurt, she finally threw her head back and let out a breath she didn't know she held. Once she sat back up though, she immediately noticed rapid movement from the corner of her eye. She looked in the direction of said movement to see Eri! Eri looked like she was trying to do weird hand and finger motions to get Jirou's attention. Guess it worked but to Jirou, it just looked so silly.
Jirou smiled before getting up with her food and going over to Eri's table "Hey guys. Mind if I join ya?"
Iida nodded "Not at all! We'd be honored."
Everyone else agreed.
Just as Jirou sat down though, she noticed Eri get out of her seat and run over to her only to then hug her big sis.
Jirou's problems almost instantly melted away any dissatisfaction and disappointment she felt as she hugged her back.
"Are you ok, big sis?" Eri asked in a light and gentle voice
Jirou smirked "I'm okay, kid..." She said before hugging back.
Mina always enjoyed how close Jirou and Eri were, Eri made Jirou come out of her shell more without even trying. "So. Whatcha been up to Jirou?"
Jirou looked back at her "Oh... Um... Nothing much"
Iida put his hand to his chin "I'm guessing you'd be thinking about the culture festival just like the rest of us. Correct?"
Jirou blushed a bit "Well... Maybe... I mean..."
Eri gently pet her head "It's ok, sis. Take your time"
Jirou couldn't help but feel more motivated with someone like Eri around "... I... Had an idea... For what to do for the culture festival."
Everyone took a glance at Jirou wondering what her idea would be "... A... A concert."
Mina's eyes lit up "Oh?! That actually sounds super fun!"
Izuku thought about it for a moment "That... Actually sounds like a great idea!"
Jirou smiled at her friends compliments but sadly she frowned again "Problem is. How are we gonna get people who play instruments? All the class can really do is be backup dancers."
Uraraka thought about it for a moment "Well it certainly won't hurt to ask."
Eri nodded "I'll play music if you need me to!"
Jirou chuckled "Nah. I want you to sit back and watch the show if anything. The class has to work on this."
Eri nodded "Okay." She continued to nuzzle Jirou as they ate.
Since there was now a minor plan in place, they waited until after school to discuss it more with the class. During school though, Bakugo and Todoroki had just been ordered to get ready to start their remedial classes. Once they were in the locker room though, Todoroki decided to ask some questions.
Todoroki looked to Bakugo as he took his blazer off "... So... How has the training been going?"
Bakugo really didn't want to talk, he was worried he would say something rude or offensive on instinct. "... Good"
Todoroki sighed "You know... I know we never really saw eye to eye before ... But there are plenty who are worried about you."
Bakugo was silent before stating "I'm aware... I just don't want to let them down more than I already have."
Todoroki was a bit shocked to hear this. Bakugo considering other people's feelings? It was crazy but... It seemed accurate, though his outlook was a bit selfish.
Bakugo noticed the perplexed gaze from his classmate and sighed "Meditation has helped more than I'd ever imagined it could... But I'm... Scared..." He looked at his hands "Everything I used to think was so normal... I can't do anymore..."
"Isn't that a good thing?" Todoroki inturupted "Not only did you bully Midoriya but you broke Jirou's arm"
Bakugo winced "Don't remind me... Lately I've been learning what exactly I did to him... Both physically and mentally... And Jirou... I can't believe I did what I did to her... She didnt deserve that... No one did."
Todoroki could see Bakugo had started shaking. He immediately decided to ease off of him, not wanting to damage any progression Bakugo has made. "Well... Just focus on what's in front of you"
Bakugo nodded and put the last of his gear on "I know". Both of them then joined up with Inasa Yoarashi in a gymnasium where they waited for Gang Orca. As they waited though, Endeavor yelled words of 'encouragment' at Shoto which only served to annoy him and startle others. Once All Might was seen with them though, spirits were raised for the students.
However, next to them was Hound Dog, who was struggling to contain his excitement but continued keeping an eye on Bakugo. Bakugo noticed him immediately and took deep breaths, trying not to let anything get under his skin.
He then felt a tap on his shoulder and turned to see a girl. "Heyo. Y'all are lookin' hella shaky but don't sweat it, us homies gotta stick together and make this legit, fam."
For about 5 second, Bakugo's brain completely flatlined 'What in the ever loving fuck did she just say?! God, this is already testing me... I wanna yell... Stop. Stop! STOP!!!' he took a deep breath and looked at her "Who... Who are you?"
Suddenly, the hero public safety commissioner, Mera, waved to her. "Over here!"
The girl nodded and said "Hold that thought." To Bakugo as she suddenly sprinted to Mera's side.
Mera sighed "Listen up, everyone. Usually we do this training course with the 10 of you but we have an 11th joining us today."
The girl started spinning her cap "I'm a second year at Shiketsu High, you can call me Camie!" She said with a smile. "They gave me special permish to retake the exam and I'm straight up grateful fam. This is gonna be mad lit."
Todoroki stared at her for a moment "... Is that some dialect I've never heard of?" He asked to no one in particular.
Mera sighed "Now that that's all done. You take it from here, Gang Orca"
Gang Orca entered the room immediately and stood in front of the students "So... You all took the exam and managed to fail." Everyone winced at that a bit "But don't worry, this is very easy... LIKE THE FIRST EXAM WAS! HOW COULD YOU RIDICULOUS EXCUSES FOR HEROES FAIL?! AS FAR AS I'M CONCERNED, YOU GUYS ARE LESS THAN USELESS!!"
Bakugo gasped, having a flashback moment.
"L-Leave them alone, k-kachan!"
"Or what? Gonna suddenly get a quirk and stop me?" He then proceeded to beat Izuku down and stomp his head into the dirt "Such a fool, Deku! You're literally less than useless!"
Bakugo snapped back to reality and shook his head.
Gang Orca took notice of this and confronted him "You... Who the hell do you think you are?! Do you think you could have saved anyone at all?! Do you think that anyone you might've saved would bother thanking you?! Who the hell do you think you are!"
Bakugo sighed, he'd been trying to figure that out himself lately.
Gang Orca huffed "At least you seem even slightly embarrassed by your piss poor display." He then walked away from Bakugo and pointed to Todoroki and Inasa "And you two... YOU TWO FOUGHT EACH OTHER INSTEAD OF HELPING CIVILIANS! ARE YOU BOTH COMPLETELY BRAINDEAD?! SO MANY PEOPLE COULD HAVE DIED ON YOUR WATCH THAT IT'S RIDICULOUS!!!"
Both students knew this and were obviously ashamed, lowering their heads at his statement.
Gang Orca huffed "Now then... I want you worthless husks to prove yourself in a fight to the death!" The doors to the gym slowly opened "I want you to prove to me that you can communicate with them through your hearts!!! That is my trail to you!!!"
Bakugo steeled himself 'I'm ready... For anything!'
20 kids then suddenly burst through the door and began wreaking havoc.
Baguko immediately regretted his unsaid words "What's going on here?! Why are these kids here?!"
Hound Dog watched him carefully as he lost his temper for the first time. 'Logical reasons I suppose. Nothing too out of control.'
Suddenly one of the kids ran from Bakugo screaming and crying as other kids came to defend his honor and tried beating Bakugo. "Seriously! Stop crying!" Bakugo yelled at the youngster.
"Hehe" Bakugo turned to a kid who was a bit stout and had a comb over. "You must love being a grown up huh... Having people listen to you through your yelling? Well... That's not gonna work with us."
Bakugo immediately regretted his yelling and froze 'damn... I just yelled at the top of my lungs and this thing just started!' He then felt his arms get a bit lighter and noticed some kids making off with his gear "Are you kidding me?!" He started running after the kids "Give those back! They aren't toys!"
Gang Orca sighed "Listen up! The four of you are too cooperate and move the hearts of these children!"
Bakugo gulped and tightened his fists 'What kind of test is this... I'm a fighter! Not a nanny! This is ri-ugh...' he had a flashback to Eri, and all the horrible things he said about her and did because of her "... This... This is my true test..."
Bakugo then looked at the kids and rather than get frustrated, he thought about things deeply before taking a deep breath "These kids... Something tells me they don't act this way just because they can... Otherwise... Eri might have done the same... No... There's gotta be a reason." Bakugo then closed his eyes, 'Ugh... What do I do?'
From a distance, the 4 students heard the teacher of the class sniffling. "I'm so sorry... Due to the difference in quirks, they all feel extremely entitled and special enough to disobey any request we ask of them. They feel they know better and are superior than anyone that's not a pro hero."
Bakugo's grip loosened '... This couldn't have been planned ... Right?...' he looked up to Hound Dog who was looking at Bakugo with a judgmental eye.
Todoroki sighed and turned to the others "This is no time to panic. Someone needs our help. Let's strategize"
Bakugo and the other three got back together, with Bakugo eventually snatching his gauntlets back. "So... What's the plan?"
Hound Dog sighed "Bakugo... I know you can do this"
Author... "... Do you guys even want me to continue this story? I'll be honest, I've thought about dropping it entirely, I've received enough criticism from the Bakugo thing that I've grown tired of dealing with it. It's not like I can't just change it either. A lot would have to be rewritten. So do me a favor, comment. Do you want me to continue, yes or no. No ifs, ands or buts, just. Yes or no.
