CHAPTER 128
An hour before Tsukumo's torture
Quartz slowly walked up to the girl, seeing as how she was still gasping and mumbling to herself.
She sat down next to the girl, waving a hand in front of the girl's face. No response.
Quartz hummed, a frown starting to crease her forehead. She put a hand on the girl's shoulder, shaking it gently. "Hey. Can you hear me? What's wrong?"
The girl twitched, then looked at her fearfully. "No! Don't hurt me!"
Quartz reeled back, shocked as the girl scrambled away from her.
"Get away! The man will come back and then you'll be sorry!"
Confused, Quartz rushed over to her, hugging her. "It's okay. I won't hurt you."
The girl shook violently, voice barely above a whisper. "He's here. The scary man is back…"
Quartz looked at the door apprehensively, but no one came through. She looked back to the girl, who was staring wide eyed at the corner of a wall.
"Run…run away. He'll hurt you too!"
Quartz narrowed her eyes, and shook the girl roughly. "Snap out of it! There's nothing there! It's just your imagination! It can't hurt you!"
The girl tried to escape, but Quartz clung onto her tightly. It didn't help that she had no warmth to comfort the girl with, but maybe with enough physical stimulation…
Quartz wrapped her arms around the girl, tucking her chin on top of the girl's head, and wrapping her tiny pink wings as best she could around the girl.
"Shhhh. It's okay. I won't let him hurt you."
Quartz glanced back at the corner of the wall. She squinted, and could just make out the see through image of a shadowy man. He had long fingers, and rows upon rows of sharp teeth, like a shark.
She stared into the expressionless eyes of the strange man. "Leave. Now. You wouldn't want her to have nightmares now would you?"
'I am unsure weather or not my powers will work on a hallucination brought to life…but it's worth a try.'
The man wavered and rippled, grinning like a shark who caught scent of prey. He rushed forwards, long fingers reaching forwards.
Quartz glared defiantly. 'So it seems someone other than Yorichi is immune to my powers. Though a hallucination is a far cry from Yorichi.'
She blinked in surprise though, when an angry growl ripped through the air.
Quartz stared in shock as the lycanthrope boy, now fully transformed, leapt at the hallucination, tearing and ripping it apart.
The hallucination tried to bite him, but the boy expertly dodged, and then ripped off the hallucination's head.
The hallucination simply ceased to exist. Fading into nothingness.
The boy dropped to his feet, eyes awake for the first time since Quartz saw him.
Turning to look at Quartz, he walked over, a concerned look on his face. "Is she okay?"
Quartz let go of the trembling girl so he could look at her.
He proceeded to snuggle up to the girl, poofing his fur out so it was more fluffy.
The girl seemed to relax, and buried her face in the soft fur, sobs quieting down.
The boy wagged his tail, a pleased smile on his face.
Quartz felt all fuzzy inside. 'Awww…'
She held out a hand. "My name is Quartz! What's yours?"
The lycanthrope held out a furry clawed hand. "Lyle. The girl is Harmonic. And the chimera is Wjat. He hasn't said anything since even when we got here."
Quartz glanced at Wjat. He still sat silently, staring blankly at the floor. His tail was the only thing that was moving.
She looked back at Lyle. "So he was here before you two?"
Lyle nodded, then wagged his tail harder when Harmonic started playing with his ears.
"Yeah. I think they did something to him. I was actually always aware of my surroundings, but I pretended to lose my focus to trick the Illusionist Master. I will do anything to protect Harmonic."
Quartz smiled as Harmonic giggled. "Doggy!"
"Are you brother and sister?"
Lyle finally sat up, reversing to a semi-human form again. "No. But I found her in an abandoned cabin. There were several hallucinations doing terrible things to her. She said that someone named Viscan left her there all alone. She panicked when the Illusionist Master found us. I think they must be related."
Quartz nodded, listening intently. "I see. Do you know what he intends to do with us?"
Lyle frowned, as if thinking hard. Then he shrugged his shoulders. "He didn't really tell us much. Said something about a coffin? No…casket? Something like that. Said he needed our power to awaken the woman inside. But he hasn't come back for us yet."
Quartz glanced back at Wjat. "Do you think Wjat was forced to try and open the casket? Maybe that's why he became like that."
Quartz stared down at the floor, gritting her teeth. "What right does he have to do this to us?!"
Lyle suddenly asked her a question. "So what are you? What kind of powers do you have?"
Quartz glanced up, a little shy. "Well…I'm a Vampire. I sort of have several powers. They thought, I mean, the people back home thought I was unaware of them. But I'm aware. I just can't control them sometimes.
Powers of reversal, I can reverse anything to it's previous state, or even into nothingness. Then I can kinda manipulate people, but it gets out of control sometimes. So I shouldn't use it too much. But I have been using it a lot lately, just to get around safely."
Lyle nodded. "I see. That's really cool."
Quartz blushed. "Oh…ah, thanks."
Present Time
A scream ripped through the air, full of anguish and pain.
Quartz gasped, standing up quickly. "That, that sounded like Tsukumo! What are they doing to him?!"
Lyle watched with a worried look as Quartz paced around the room. "Is Tsukumo a friend of yours?"
Quartz stopped pacing, looking at Lyle. "Yes. I haven't gotten to know too much about him, but he's really nice. He's like me. A Vampire. So for him to scream like that, I don't want to imagine what they're doing to him!"
Harmonic stared at Quartz, lips pressed tightly. She pulled on Lyle's sleeve, pointing at Quartz.
Lyle patted Harmonic's head. "Her friend is in trouble. She upset."
Harmonic blinked. "Trouble…help? Should….we help?"
Lyle sighed. "The door is locked. We can't get out."
Quartz flew up suddenly, heading to a camera. "Alright guys. Get ready. We're busting out of here."
Lyle gasped as Quartz proceeded to rip the camera off the wall, tossing it to the ground. The camera lens shattered.
She then did the same to the other three cameras.
Quartz landed on the ground, smirking. "Grab Wjat and get ready. I'm going to disintegrate the door. We're not wasting another minute in here."
