Chapter 3: The visions

The next day in the mysterious beyond the fast bitter blue was asleep near a swamp to keep cool from the bright circles heat and to have a drink when she wakes up from her nap , when the bright circle is over the land a couple of minutes later she started to wake up from her sleep

In less than 10 seconds she was now fully awake , when she was fully up she stretched her arms and legs to get them out of a stiff and she started to walk over to the lake for a drink. Small flyers squawked as wildlife passed by around her. Taking in a deep breath, she knelt down at the edge of the river, taking in clawfuls of water. Just when Blue thought she was finally at peace, voices echoed in the tired fast bitters ears.

"Why… why…" the voice began quietly. It felt so familiar to Blue hearing that voice. Who was it? "Why did you abandon us? Have you forgotten your sisters?" A vision of her sister, the fast biter named Echo, appeared on a passing leaf in the river.

'Sister'. "No, no," Blue nervously replied. Her eyes wide, the vision suddenly stopped. Everything returned to normal again. Perhaps it was nothing.

The leaf started to pick up speed in the river and started to move faster.

"Help," cried her sister. Her body halfway sunk in the river, she started drifting downstream. "Help me, Blue, you must! Blue, you are forgetting us!"

Blue's eyes closed. She wanted these visions to stop. This was the seventh time this week and they just keep getting more and more troublesome on her mind. The lines blurred as she kept fading from reality to nightmare as these kept up. The water she drank began to change in taste.

"You," another voice joined in. It was Delta this time, her face plastered on another passing tree leaf. "You never saved us…" The nightmare ended as soon as it began. The leaflet fell into the river and drifted past. But alas, this nightmare was here to continue.

She appeared again, fear stricken across her face as she raised her arm from the water, begging for help. "You left us," she accused. "You abandoned your family!"

"I haven't!" Blue's attempts to console and reassure were fruitless.

"You left us all… to…"

"D-I-I-I-E-E-E-E-E-!-!-!" a mess of leaves poured down from the breeze, each displaying a damned soul, abandoned, long gone, and screaming at Blue for her failure. The once beautiful and fresh faces of the dinos, both plant and meat, quickly molded and rotted into graying husks, the river overflowing with their bodies and screams, the screams of the male, female, and hatchlings she left behind when Indom tore into the valley. The taste of the water in her mouth turned sour, then rancid, and into blood, as she struggled to get a grip on herself, eyes quivering at the grotesque sight.

And then, it appeared.

The once sunny day went pitch black around her. Nothing to see but the river of the dinos… and him. Thick, green mist glowed and enveloped the view ahead. A Thanatotheristes appeared before her. The Omen of Death stood at full height, all parts of him shrouded in complete darkness. Heavy bones of both meat and plant adorned his body, acting like armor. His yellow eyes are a stark contrast to the silhouette of himself, judging Blue for her failures. The fast bitter could only stare agape and in horror. The spirit's displeased stare spoke more words than were necessary.

Blue turned her back and high-tailed it out of there. Life returned to normal as the lone raptor ran as fast as she could, so fast it would make her ancestors proud, not looking back. No way she was going to drink from that river ever again.

(2 hours later, near the Great Valley)

Finding a boulder suitable and secluded with enough space for camp, she found himself at rest again. No more did her visions of her family haunt her, for the moment. Taking deep breaths, she set up a small campfire, bright enough for light, and warmth, but dim enough to avoid any unnecessary attention. It was here that Blue was able to collect her thoughts on what she saw, she tried to forget it, she tried to think of what she's done in the past years, and then she remembered how she was able to make something like the campfire. It was a few years ago, she was with her old Alpha, he taught her and her sisters things that came in handy since she's on her own now.

Got to remember to thank him for these teachings, without them I would be dead by now, she reminisced.

Night fell as Blue noted a small pack of compys passing rodent skewers for dinner again, it seems. Even when cooked, the meat was bitter, but it beat starving the whole night. As she ate, she solemnly remembered the valley she passed earlier, or what was left of it. Blue's own mind debated with itself.

Indoms getting more bloodthirsty everyday, how could something like her want so much carnage? His mind could only wonder.

Dinos die every day; you should know that by now. It was oft times a surprise there were still many innocents left in this world.

I could have done something to help this time… Deep down, playing the hero was what she was taught with her old alpha.

You could have died! I am keeping you alive! It angrily shouted within.

A voice called from Blue's campfire, breaking his thoughts. "Daughter…"

Not… again… please… The Raptor mentally begged.

There her old Alpha stood crucified in the flame, as she last remembered seeing him over 10 years ago.

"Father?"

"… W-Why?"

"I… I…"

The former Alpha's head bowed as he confided. "We've been waiting for you… So long…" His tone and countenance changed to one of anger and judgment as he faced his daughter. "But you never came back," he chided.

Blue needed to tell the truth. Clutching her hands close to her heart, she confided, "But father! Indom destroyed every valley she came across, I have to do something!" Surely even you must understand that!

The campfire danced as it released flaming embers throughout the forest, igniting everything around Blue. She remained speechless at the hellish view before her. Her father towered above him and continued.

"I don't understand; you were the only one who could save us!"

"Father…"

"She destroyed everything! Everything is burning! You've forgotten your purpose!"

Her Father's image took a mortifying turn as he resembled more of the symbol that she's seen on Indoms forces roared at her. Flaming incarnations of his ancestors groaned and screamed in agony. "YOU HAVE FORSAKEN US!"

Blue was in terror now. Reminding her of her monumental loss, the Demon appeared before Blue, in the boulder she camped out on. Those glowing yellow eyes burned judgment into the former Guardians soul.

In a scream of terror, she forsook his meal and headed out again. No longer was she willing to waste time, she knew she needed to get to the Great Valley before Indom does.

'Okay, maybe if I show my ancestors that I can save these Dinos, the visions and nightmares will stop!' Or at least, that was her hope as she ran into the forest towards the mountains. From her current distance, she should make it by tomorrow morning.
