Nothing But Silence

Disclaimer- I do not own Serena, Scott, Lucy, Karen, or Christina. They belong to the creators of Port Charles, ABC Daytime, and probably a lot of other people with more money than me. I'm not making any money off this story so please don't sue me.

Author's Notes- This takes place after Friday June 23rd 2000's episode of Port Charles. It's about Scott as he realises that Lucy's gone and thinking about everything. I'm taking Scott to a higher place because in this story he doesn't react with his temper, but with a feeling of loss and sorrow. He's wondering if there's anything left.

After an hour of watching Serena sleep and the empty crib where Christina should have been sleeping, Scott dragged himself downstairs to try and talk it out with Lucy again.

Why won't she let me in? He wondered with agony. We should be sharing this together.

He found that the lights were still off and expected to see Lucy sitting somewhere quietly or sleeping on the couch.

He saw neither.

"Did she go up to our room?" He wondered for a moment, then his eyes caught on a piece of paper.

He picked it up.

"Scott," he read, hearing her voice in his mind. "I'm sorry, but I can't stay here right now. All I keep seeing is our baby. Maybe, we can work it out. I don't know. But for now I'm staying at the Port Charles Hotel. Give Serena my love. Lucy."

Scott crumpled the note in a ball and threw it.

"Damn you!" He cried. "Why Lucy? Why did you have to run out on us? Christina's gone, but we still have Serena and each other."

He collapsed on the couch.

Serena. He thought. How am I going to tell her that on top of everything else her mother's walked out on her?

He knew that it would break her heart. Lucy may not be her biological mother, but she was the only one Serena had ever known. Now she had walked out on them.

Scott buried his head in his hands wishing that things would go back to the way they had been.

They had been really happy.

But now his oldest daughter was away trying to recover from a drug problem, his youngest had been kidnapped, his wife had walked out on him, and his middle daughter was suffering from losing her two sisters.

Scott stood up and walked to the phone. He dialled the number of The Port Charles Hotel. Then he hung up the phone.

"I can't do it." He said quietly. "If I do, I'll just lose it at her again."

He sighed and shook his head sadly. "I know she's hurting, but why can't she let me in? Why is she letting the loss of Christina destroy everything else?"

He sat back down on the couch and closed his eyes.

But when he did all he saw was Lucy and Christina.

"We were so happy, weren't we?" He asked the silent room when he opened his eyes.

"We almost had everything and now it's all gone. Now is there anything left to be saved?"

He almost expected someone to answer him, but all there was was the empty silence.

That's all that was left.

Silence.

The End
