Almost Too Late

Disclaimer- I do not own Jason, Robin, Carly, or Sonny. They belong to the creators of General Hospital, Wendy Riche, Bob Guza, ABC Daytime, and probably a lot of other people with more money than me. I'm not making any money off this story so please don't sue me.

Author's Notes- This is a weird Jason/Robin story I cam up with in about 5 minutes. It's not very good, but I just had to write it. It's set sometime after the 2000 Nurses Ball. Also, this was written before Jason came back, so anything that happened then didn't happen in the story, okay? That's it, enjoy.

He was in Paris.

He didn't know why, but he was there.

When he had left Port Charles he had gone travelling, going to the places he used to read to Micheal about. But he never dreamed he would end up here.

After all Paris was her city.

Jason pictured her in his mind.

It didn't hurt as much now, not like it used to. Maybe, because he no longer thought of her name as synonymous with betrayal.

He had a another name and another face for that.

Her face only meant regret now. Regret for all the things that had gone wrong.

He didn't know why it still hurt, after all it had been almost two years and with Carly's betrayal you would have thought he was over it.

Still, he wasn't.

He thought about her all the time, and wondered if she ever thought of him any more.

He wandered through Paris, remembering the time they had spent there together.

He wandered some more, before finding himself in a park. He sat down to think, to clear his mind.

It didn't work.

All he could think about her. Her voice, her face, her touch. What it was like to love her, and what it was like to be loved by her.

He wondered if there was another man in her life... There probably was. She was too special to be alone.

If only he had realised how special she was before he had lost her. He had taken her for granted and this was his punishment. Life without her.

He stood up, knowing he had to leave Paris or go insane.

He started on his way, then stopped.

She was right in front of him.

"Jason." She whispered.

He had forgotten how good it felt to hear her say his name.

"How are you?"

"I'm good." He answered softly.

She smiled. "I'm glad. Uncle Mac told me you had left town and then I found out about Carly and Sonny, I'm sorry."

"Don't be." He told her. "I should have expected it from her."

"But not from him." She countered. "He was your best friend, you should have been able to trust him."

"That still hurts." He admitted. "But it helped clear a lot of things up in my mind. Robin, I'm sorry for how I treated you."

She was silent for a moment, then she smiled and said the beautiful words in the world. "I forgive you, Jason. You were angry and felt betrayed. I'm not saying I wasn't hurt, but I've had time to think it over and I don't blame you."

"Thank you." He whispered. "That means a lot to me."

He finally realised that this is why he had come to Paris.

"That's why I'm here." He whispered. "To get your forgiveness."

She smiled slightly. "You have it, but can you stay a little longer. I've missed you."

"Don't you have someone important in your life?" He asked, praying that the answer would be no.

She shook her head. "It hurt too much."

"I'm sorry." He said again.

She smiled again. "It's alright. The pain is going away."

She held out her hand to him and he took it.

They couldn't solve everything right now, but this was a start. What's more it was all he ever wanted.

Everything was clear to him now.

Sonny, Carly, A.J, Micheal... None of it meant anything at that moment. All that meant anything was her.

It had taken him a long time to see it, but he finally had. And he hadn't been too late, almost, but not quite.

That was all that counted.

The End
