After naruko's match with kiba, the next match was announced. The next match was hinata hyuga vs her cousin neji hyuga. When the next match began hinata tried her hardest against neji but neji was just too much for her to handle and soon enough there was blood just pouring from hinata's mouth.
Upon seeing her best friend's blood, naruko stood there trembling with her eyes widened in fear as memories of the day the villagers in village of light, including her mom and sister, were completely wiped off the face of the earth.
Kakashi noticed that naruko took a couple of steps backwards shaking as she her breaths began to speed up. Kakashi got worried, walked over to her and said "naruko what's wrong?" The question caused both sakura and lee to look at naruko.
Sakura rushed to naruko's side and said in a worried voice "is everything ok? What's going on?" Naruko didn't answer, she just stood there shaking still watching hinata and neji's match. She's been hinata's friend long enough to know that there's bad blood between the main branch and the lower branch of the hyuga clan but she didn't know that it was this bad. When the battle was over and neji was declared the winner, although the battle was over, neji rushed at hinata with killing intent. 'HINATA!' Naruko thought alarmed.
Seeing this, naruko couldn't just stand there and watch. Ever since the day when all the villagers in village of light were killed she vowed to never stand and watch as someone else she cares about get killed.
Forcing herself to move, naruko pushed sakura and kakashi out of her way, jumping down from the stands and ran in front of hinata to try and protect her surprising everyone. Before neji could land his attack he was stopped by kakashi, Guy, and Kurnai.
Hinata fell flat on her back with tears rolling down her cheeks and coughing up blood. "Hinata" Kurnai said worried. Naruko looked at hinata trying her best to remain calm. Hinata looked at naruko with her last bit of strength and said "d-did… I do… g-good?"
Once again naruko forced herself to move while trying to hide her worry and anger. Naruko knelt down beside hinata, reaching out her hand to wipe away a couple tears and said with a smile "you did a great job hinata." Hearing those words from the one person she loved and admired the most brought a smile to hinata's face. Naruko kissed hinata's forehead before the medical team could take her away.
Naruko stood up staring at the blood on the ground shaking while still trying to remain calm. She silently vowed to herself to avenge her fallen friend. "Naruko come on" kakashi said. Walking back to the stands naruko tried to follow kakashi but she couldn't move.
Kakashi noticed that naruko hasn't moved from that spot. 'What's going on? I've never seen naruko like this' kakashi thought. Walking over to naruko he picked her up and went over to the stands. Kakashi put naruko down as sakura ran over to her teammate worried and asking if she was ok. Kakashi said "sakura let's give her some space to let her calm down." Sakura nodded her head as her and kakashi left to give her some space but they kept an eye on her. The next match was 'rock lee vs gaara.'
The battle made naruko really anxious. She knew that lee could hold his own but she could see the killing intent in gaara's eyes causing naruko to panic even more. Sakura and kakashi went over to naruko to try and calm her down but after witnessing gaara break lee's arm and leg she couldn't take anymore. Her heart was beating fast, she was breathing hard, violently shaking, and feeling dizzy. Naruko fell backwards and passed out. "Naruko" kakashi and sakura said worried.
The next day naruko slowly started to open her eyes. She sat up holding her head and noticed that she was in a hospital. 'W-what? Why am I in the hospital?' Naruko thought. She then heard a door open and heard someone say "I see that your awake." Naruko looked at the person and saw a nurse. "What happened?" Naruko asked. "During the preliminary rounds of the chunin exams you had a panic attack" the nurse said.
'I must have gotten way to overwhelmed that I must have blacked out' naruko thought. "So how are you feeling?" The nurse asked. "Just a little lightheaded that's all" naruko said. "That's good. I better go inform the doctor that you're awake" the nurse said then left the room.
After a bit naruko was discharged from the hospital with the doctor telling her to take it easy. When she was heading home she ran into sakura. "Hey sakura" naruko said. Sakura ran towards naruko and pulled her into a hug. "I'm glad to see that you're ok." She then hit naruko on the head, "and that's what you get for scaring me!" Sakura shouted. "Ow! Geez sakura anyways what happened?" Naruko said.
Sakura told naruko what happened before she passed out. "Oh right wait… how is hinata? Is lee ok?" Naruko said panicked. "Whoa whoa calm down. We don't want you to pass out again. They're both ok. They're in the hospital being treated" sakura said.
Naruko sighed relieved and said "that's good. Oh hey I wanted to ask how is sasuke doing?" "Sasuke is doing fine. He's training with kakashi-sensei" sakura said. "Let me guess, he's training to get ready for the third part of the exams" naruko said. "Yeah pretty much and don't worry the third hokage is still gonna let you participate in the exams" sakura said.
"He is!" Naruko shouted happily. "Yeah he is" sakura said. She then explained to naruko what the they are going to do in the third part of the exams. "Ok I see but who am I up against?" Naruko said. "You're up against neji hyuga" sakura said. Upon hearing the hyuga's name, naruko clenched her fist in anger and said "I've gotta go. Thank you sakura."
Naruko left and went to a part of Konoha no one goes to to train. After a bit, naruko was trying her hardest to continue training but because of all the stress she was having a bit of trouble moving. 'Damn it. I swore that I would kick his ass for hinata and no matter what I'll do that. I refuse to see someone I care about badly injured' naruko thought. Even though hinata can be weird and annoying at times, she still cared about hinata and seeing someone hurt her best friend made her mad.
Naruko took out a kunai, cut the word blood into the back of her hand, stabbed it into her arm, gathered as much blood as she could and shouted "BLOOD STYLE: BLADES OF BLOOD!" A couple of run down buildings were completely destroyed.
Naruko suddenly felt dizzy and lost her balance. "Damn it" naruko whispered before she passed out. After a bit naruko heard someone say "hey kid wake up." Naruko started opening her eyes with blurred vision. When her vision started to clear up she saw a man kneeling down in front of her though she didn't know who this guy was.
"Hey kid are you ok?" The man said. Naruko was a little concerned about this guy because on her way here she saw this guy at the hot springs spying on the women there. Naruko sat up and said "yeah I'm fine." Naruko saw that there were bandages wrapped around her arm and hand.
The guy got up, looked around and said "geez what happened here?" "And why are you here?" Naruko said on edge. "While I was doing some research I heard a loud noise and I came over here to see what all the commotion was about" the man said. Naruko stood up and said "research? Is that you call it?" "What are you talking about?" The guy said. "Oh please. I saw you spying on the women at the hot springs pervert" naruko said shocking the guy.
"Look I'll ask again why are you here!?" Naruko shouted. "I already told you I heard a loud noise and I came here to see what it was" the guy said. Naruko sighed and said "whatever. I have to get back to training so go perv somewhere else." "So let me guess, you're training for the final part of the chunin exams" the guy said. "Why does my business matter to you pervy sage?" naruko said. The guy got mad and shouted "don't call me that brat!" "How about you stop spying on women and I won't call you that!" Naruko shouted.
The guy managed to calm down and said "I'm gonna guess that you were the one who caused all this damage since besides me you're the only one over here." "Yeah I did. So" naruko said. "So tell me what did you do to cause this much damage?" The guy said. "I activated a jutsu without thinking and I accidentally destroyed a couple of these run down buildings in a blind rage" naruko said. "And that jutsu was?" The guy said. Naruko sighed and said "I can't say."
"Huh? What do you mean you can say?" The guy said. "It means what you think it means. I can't tell you!" It was obvious to see that naruko was mad that this perverted man was just wasting her time. "And even if I could why should I tell you? I don't even know who you are!" Naruko shouted. The guy sighed and said "I guess I should introduce myself. I'm one of the three legendary sannin Jiraiya" the guy said with pride. "Ok good for you" naruko said.
Jiraiya was a bit taken back at this. He expected that when she found out who he was she was ask him to train her but instead she was like 'ok cool.' "I have to get back to training so can you please stop wasting my time" naruko said. "Look brat I'll admit just looking at all the damage I'm honestly impressed so if you want I can train you to get you ready for the final part of the chunin exams" Jiraiya said.
Naruko, surprised, looked at Jiraiya and said "really? You'd be willing to do that?" "Yeah I am so what do you say kid?" Jiraiya said. 'I mean he is one of the sannin so maybe he can help me get stronger' naruko thought about if for a bit. She looked at Jiraiya and said "sure."
