Today
~Today is the greatest day I've ever known. Can't live for tomarrow, tomarrows much to long~
Reeve trudged slowly through the dirty streets of Midgar, keeping his hand close to his gun. He could feel the heavy tension in the air, the power, and could see storm clouds streched to the horizon. He could also see, blazing through the blanket of clouds far above, the sullen red glow of metor, like a second ominous sun.
~I'll burn my eyes out....before I get out......~
Sighing deeply, he began to wonder why he was even going to work. Unless Avalanche succeeded, all would be destoryed in a few short days. But, hopeless as it seemed, he still clung to life, however pathetic it had been.
~I wanted more, than life could ever grant me~
Remorse washed over him, and a single tear was shed for all the sins he had committed in life. He thought of all the others who had already given up, remembering all too vividly the employees jumping from their office windows, some of his dearest friends.....and how those pigs Hedigger and Scarlet had done nothing to stop it.
~Bored by the chore of saving face~
And here he was, walking to work as usual.
~Today is the greatest day I've ever known. Can't live for tomarrow, I might not have that long~
The first drops of rain came pattering down on the grimy steets below. He heard thunder, and a few minutes later he was drenched. Half- heartedly he covered his head with his suit jacket and plodded on, miserably.
~I'll tear my heart out, before I get out~
Reeve stepped into the Shinra offices, completly soaked and and quite uncomfortable. He stumbled into his office, and sat down to begin possibly one of his last days on the planet.
~Pink ribbion scars, that never forget~
"And to spend it doing this.....this crap!" he said aloud. He directed his attention to his calender, and stopped dead, as if he had be shot through the heart.
~I've tried so hard, to cleanse these regrets~
Marked in red was the word meator. After that, nothing. This was his last day. By tomarrow, it would all be over. "They said it'd be a week, and I wasted it."
~My angel wings, were brusied and restrained, my belly stings~
He went out in to the hallway, and drew his gun. "They were right," he said in a wavering whisper. "I won't let it get me. I'll escape!" he was laughing now, and screaming. Two rooms over, Rude heard the screaming. He drew his gun and walked out into the hallway to see Reeve, gun pointed at his head. Without even stopping to think he takled Reeve to the ground, causing the gun to go flying down the hallway. "Why'd you let me live!?" Reeve shrieked. "I don't wanna live anymore!" Rude shook him, trying to snap him out of it. "It's over!" Reeve cried, then, in a very small voice he whimpered, "It's over man....over...." Rude had to agree, it was pretty hopeless, but he refused to give up. "No Reeve, it's not over. We still have today......."
