"How did we get here?" Sirius asked his friends, looking around the room.
"Who knows, "James answered. He was paying little attention to the room he was in, and more to the girl he was walking with
"Lumos." Peter said, a bit nervous by the large, dark room. The room lit up and they could look around.
"Well, it's not the best room in the castle." Remus said, and with good reason. The walls looked like concrete, and water was coming in through the cracks. There was very little furniture in the room. A couple of chairs, a table, and a tall mirror, all covered by old, ragged cloth. Sirius walked over to the mirror and pulled off the cloth.
"Wierd." He said, staring at it, his eyes nearly popping out of his head. "Hey, guys, and Lily, come and look at this!"
"What?" Remus asked, hurrying over, Peter on his heels. "Wow!" His eyes bugged out nearly as far as Sirius's.
"Do you see that?" Sirius asked, though it wasn't really directed at anyone.
"James, come over here, this is so cool." Remus said.
"Erised stra ehru oyt ube cafru oyt on wohsi." Lily read. "What does that mean?"
Sirius and Remus shrugged. Peter was desperatly trying to push them out of the way so that he could get a glimps.
"Hey look." Peter exclaimed once he had finally pushed through.
"Move." James said, pushing his three friends aside so that he and Lily could see whatever it was that Sirius, Remus, and Peter were staring at.
"What were you looking at?" Lily asked.
"Can't you see?" Sirius asked. "I was standing there. I had my own joke shop. It was better than Zonkos!"
"That's not it." Remus argued. "I was standing there, under the full moon, in human form."
"You're wrong." Peter said, in a strangely loud voice. "I was standing there and you all were following me." James, Sirius, Remus and Lily just looked at him like he was out of his mind, so he coward off into a corner.
"I don't see anything here but me and Lily." James said.
"Yeah, me too." Lily said, and thought for a moment "Oh, I get it. April Fools, very funny guys, you got us."
"No, I'm not joking." Sirius said. His face was straight and showed no sign of lying, but Sirius was a master at that
"Yeah right Sirius," James said, "Very funny, but we better go back. It's late and we've got that paper to finish still for Transfiguration." They all began to walk out of the room, but Lily held back a little.
"Erised stra ehru oyt ube cafru oyt on wohsi." She said to herself. James saw that she was falling behind, so he walked back to her.
"Hey, don't think about it. Those guys'll do anything for a joke." He took her hand. She smiled back up at him. She had figured out what 'Erised stra ehru oyt ube cafru oyt on wohsi' meant.
