Miss Edith
Sometimes
The world falls away
From my feet
And I am standing
In only the night sky
With the stars at my fingertips
My toes dancing
On golden pools of starlight
Twinkle twinkle
Little stars
How I wonder what you are.
And then the Moon
He whispers into my ears
Delightful things
And I dream I'll bathe
In his gentle rays
But then I wake up
And go crashing down again
I lay sprawled
On the earth
Naked like the animals
All alone
All alone in the dirt
And the little worm won't dance if hes told to!
No. No.
And the moon laughs wickedly at me
He has fooled me
And he screams
Of dreadful things
The fish are afraid
Their eyes opened wide
And I lay there
Calling on the pixies of night
To come and ravish me.
But I get no answer
I never do.
They've all left me.
They always leave.
No. I always leave them.
I stretch out my arms
And feel something soft beside me
Miss Edith.
And I cry as I stroke her soft hair.
Sometimes
The world falls away
From my feet
And I am standing
In only the night sky
With the stars at my fingertips
My toes dancing
On golden pools of starlight
Twinkle twinkle
Little stars
