I saw you the other day. You didn't see me, I made sure of that. But
I saw you.
You looked so happy, I've never seen you so happy.
You laughed with your companion, and I couldn't help smiling. You always
make me smile. Even now.
The one who was at your side is your partner, your soul-mate. Once I
thought that would be me. "One day, when things are different..." I
thought we'd be together.
But you never looked this happy when I was by your side. I'm not the
one you need. You need the person who's at your side now.
I tried. But I wasn't "the one". I wasn't what you needed, then or now.
And so I let you go.
You found what you needed. You're happy, content. I've never seen you
so happy.
And so I watched you, revelling in your joy, like always. I'm glad
you're happy, even if I'm not the reason.
You didn't need me, so I let you go.
The tragedy is, that *I* need *you*. But I can't have you.
So I hid around the corner and I watched you. Just to see that you were
all right. And then I left you with your soul-mate and I went off alone.
