This fic was a sudden idea of mine

This fic was a sudden idea of mine. I decided to write about Peter's view on what he'd done to his "friends". I really should be working on My Name Is Remus Lupin, which I hope to have finished soon. My friend Kaydi (author of My Name Is Sirius Black) is insisting that I write it, we plan to eventually make a series with all of the marauders. So, be looking for My Name Is Remus Lupin soon (hopefully.) And before I forget, I don't own anything.

The Betrayer

It was almost time now, he thought. Peter Pettigrew was crouched in a bush outside the Potters' tiny home in Godric's Hollow, peering through a window into their cozy living room. Lily and James were seated next to each other on the sofa, holding tiny baby Harry. They all wore smiles upon their faces. But they won't be smiling for long, Peter reminded himself, feeling smug.

James had always been so happy his entire life, while Peter had suffered. But had James noticed? Of course not. He'd been too wrapped up in his own little perfect life with his friends, his wife and his son, to notice that Peter had been suffering, that he was miserable. Of course, James said he considered Peter a friend, but it wasn't the same. There was something shared between James, Sirius and Remus that wasn't there for Peter. He was always left out, always the one in the background. James, Sirius and Remus had always been popular, and always excelled at magic, while Peter was quite the contrary. But they'd helped him. They stuck up for him, and kept him protected through out the years. They'd served their purpose well, but there was no need for them now. He was moving on. It was because of them that he'd found his master, that he'd now have the one thing he'd never had. Power. Yes, he'd have revenge on them now. He grinned. Cowardly little Peter had outsmarted James Potter, Sirius Black and Remus Lupin. He recalled the glory he'd felt when Sirius suggested that he be secret keeper for Lily and James. "The perfect bluff," Sirius had insisted to James. "No one would ever suspect little Peter." Little Peter. Not once did they ever doubt his loyalty to them. They didn't think he was capable of any evil. Such a fool Sirius is, he thought, now laughing maliciously. They'd played right into his hands. The pride, the satisfaction Peter had felt when he announced to his master that he knew where the Potters were, that he was their secret keeper. It was a feeling of power he'd never known.

And now, on this very night, in only a few moments, their plan would be completed. James, Lily and Harry would be dead. His master would kill them like he had so many others. Peter hadn't actually intended on getting James and Lily killed, not at first anyway, but that's what pleased his master, so that's what he did.

Peter glanced at his watch. Eleven forty-five. That was the time Voldemort had told him. Beads of perspiration formed on his forehead. Any moment now. The door of the Potters' house suddenly burst open. Peter watched Lily, who was now holding Harry, jump from the sofa and let out a shriek. Harry cried, and James' eyes darted wildly around the room with fear. Peter had now partially emerged from the bush to have a better view, not realizing soon enough that he was visible from inside the house. James' eyes caught on him for a second, and widened with sudden realization. Peter had a sudden sickly feeling. Was it guilt? He didn't want to watch anymore, he realized. He quickly took his rat form, and scurried off into the night, but not in time to miss what had happened behind him. He saw the reflection of a flash of green light, that made a chill rush through his bones.
