This is an alternate plausible possibility in the story of Severus Snape regarding how the events unfolded in the Shrieking Shack and the outcome of a single act of kindnesses to a broken hero. Twenty-two years of his life had been given over to following the desires of another; seventeen of them as Dumbledore's man, which meant he served two masters as a servant, spy and pawn.

Severus has a bit of trouble watching his son with Hermione's granddad in the house. Of course, life would be easier with magic, and if the half-kneazle could be allowed in the bassinette, but no, he has to do everything the Muggle way!

Sirius gets ahold of seven books on Harry's life. He gathers a group of adults to prevent them from happening. No reading of the books happens in this story. It is glossed over.

The Triwizard Tournament was more brutal than I ever could have imagined. Perhaps it wasn’t all for the worse though. Without it, I never would have found the mysterious room. Without it, I never would have learned all I did. Without it, I would have been a different man, but I don’t know if that’s a good thing.

The Story takes place after Harry's First year.

Harry was hoping for a life of anonymous normality after defeating the Dark Lord for the final time. Still believing in Dumbledore's nonsense, he paid no attention to the Ministry and its corruption. A figure from the future offers Harry a do-over.

What if they really had to fight a troll? If the school was a bit more… gritty? Turn the lights on, this is going to get dark.

A plot sends Hermione hurtling back to 1976 where she must adopt her new identity as the estranged daughter of Aberforth Dumbledore. While she copes with her new reality, she also must come to terms with the possibility that the future she once knew may never come to be.

Four years had passed since she last saw him, and to her knowledge, no one else in Britain had either. Rumours had sprouted like plants under a Herbivicus Charm after he failed to return for the second half of their final year at Hogwarts. Even Hermione hadn't been able to resist the question in every student's mind: Where had Draco Malfoy gone? Apparently, she now had the answer.
