"I'm glad you're here," I say as the door to the mansion is shut quickly. It's almost sunrise and you never know what'll effect Angel. No one really talks about him, especially since he broke up with Buffy. I think Giles admires him for being brave, but I think he's weak. Cordelia and Oz agree with me.
"Willow, if you called me here to help watch Angel, I need--"
"This isn't about Angel at all," I interrupt. "This is more, no, this is all about me. I know there's Angel and graduation and, God help us all, the Ascension to deal with, but I need a friend."
"All right."
I sat down on the couch and took a deep breath. "It's about Oz and I."
"I'm not the person to talk to about this."
"Yes, you are. You've....done things before, I know. You've had the sex."
"Willow!"
"Sorry. I just thought honesty was the best approach."
"Go on," was followed by a heavy sigh.
"Oz was helping me look for a cure this afternoon. Or, yesterday afternoon. Something to stop the Ascension. We were in my room and we were trying to stop it with anything and we--"
"Willow," her voice was soft, caring.
"I know, you can't stop it. We kinda found that out, but I had to try. But...when we were done, we were all alone. And I was telling Oz how it's all worth nothing. Nothing is worth anything anymore, you know? We fight and we fight and we stop it for a minute but it never goes away. And look at Buffy! She and Angel fight evil after evil and after everything they've been through, he's leaving her."
"Isn't there supposed to be a you-and-Oz story in there somewhere?"
"Oh, right. We went from talking to kissing."
"You've kissed before."
"We have, but we haven't made love before tonight."
"Willow!" her face grew red. I didn't realize she could blush when Angel wasn't in the room.
"I'm sorry. I had to tell *someone*. Someone I knew I could talk to."
"Then why did you pick me?"
"I couldn't talk to Xander. I love him, I love him so much, but we're not the friends we used to be. The stupid kisses, God, if I could take back those kisses..."
"You wouldn't."
My eyes became very wide. "How do you know?"
"You've been in love with him for more than ten years, Willow. Anyone can see that."
"You're embarrassing me."
"Sorry Willow. I just have one question."
"Okay."
"Why me and not Buffy?"
I sighed. "Buffy is losing the only man she'll ever love. I'm not going to burden her with my feelings."
"Willow, all you've done is talk about what went on in the past twelve hours. No feelings have been expressed."
"God, Cordelia..."
"Willow? Is this about Xander?"
I gave out a heavy sigh. "Isn't it always?"
Cordelia could only nod before Oz showed up and interrupted their conversation.
