A Smile Makes the Best Umbrella

By Amethyst

It was a rainy day, and Inoue Miyako was walking down the street, no umbrella, no specific place to go. Raindrops splattered against her glasses. Miyako sighed. She longed to tell him, the Gogglehead, how she really felt about him, but how would she do it? She decided to go to the park and think about it.

At Tamachi, Ichijouji Ken looked out of his window and stared into the rain. He wanted the Child of Light, or as he thought of her, the Angel of Light, to know his true feelings. He pictured his parent's reaction if they knew that he liked someone and wanted her to know. His mother would burst into tears, so happy to know that he showed feelings for someone that didn't have any blood relation to them. His father would just say to be himself, but "himself" was to shy to admit to Her how he felt. Ken decided to just take a walk in the park, his parents weren't home, so no one was there to stop him.

Kamiya Hikari was caught up in her own world. She was thinking about the former Digimon Kaiser. She had always admired him, and she wanted him to know that. But she had always kept things bottled up inside of her. Could she release one comment? Hikari opened up the door and went outside. She took a walk, heading to the park.

As usual, Motomiya Daisuke had a grin plastered on his face. But today, it was even bigger because he was thinking of Miyako. He had always had that crush on Hikari, but Miyako showed more affection towards him. Daisuke thought she wasn't to bad looking, either. He always thought that her stubbornness, knowledge, and the way she never looked before she leaped was cute. Daisuke wondered if she liked him. After all, he did sense that Miyako liked him, at least as a friend. Daisuke figured that he would go to the park, jump into a few puddles of water and mud, and then go back home.

At the park, the four Digidestined walked around, each one not knowing that the other three were in the park. A few minutes later, Ken accidentally bumped into Hikari, and Miyako ran into Daisuke. "Why are you smiling?" Miyako asked Daisuke. "Don't they say that a smile makes the best umbrella?" Daisuke replied. Suddenly, the two couples kissed. When they broke apart, they were all smiling, even Ken. A second later, the rain stopped and the sky cleared. " You're right, Daisuke," Miyako said, "A smile does make the best umbrella."
