'I Can't Do This'

Danny Walker sat in the quarters of the giant aircraft carrier which would take him across the Pacific Ocean to Japan. He looked around. He was the only one awake. He checked his watch. 5 AM. 'That could be why..,' Danny thought.
He couldn't sleep again. He kept thinking about Evelyn. It had been so long since he'd felt her lips against his. Her arms around him. He longed for her warm scent-the way hwer hair felt running through his fingers-her bright smile. He remembered Evelyn's last words to him-they kept playing over and over in his head ike a broken record. 'I'll be here waiting for you when you come back.' But what if he didn't make it back? What if Evelyn had to go back to being alone-to loose the one she loved all over again. Just the thought of her so unhappy brought tears to Danny's eyes. He was writing her again. The third time in the past 24 hours. He needed to see her.
Danny continued to write until the rest of the pilots woke up. He decided to tell Rafe as soon as he woke up-to tell him he was right. That Evelyn couldn't loose the man she loved all over again. Which is exactly why when Rafe took off for the mission, he wouldn't be flying with him, he'd be standing on deck, cheering him on. He would return home, back to Evelyn, with the rest of the crew.

~~Updated 7/10~~ I'm really sorry, but I'm going on a 2 week vacation, and Ch.2 won't be up until I get back. :( Hopefully I'll have a lot more chapters by then, though, so I'll add those, too. Thanks for all the feedback!! I'll keep some of the suggestions in mind ;)
