"Are you sure you want to do this, Judy?" Francis looked up at her girlfriend with a look of sorrow and compassion. She couldn't imagine what she was going through. And she thought having to tell her parents she was a lesbian was bad! Judy had it so bad off. Why couldn't her parents just accept her?!
"I'm positive, dear." She stood tall and tried to hide her fear. What would they say? She had refused to sign the papers until she'd spoken to her parents, and then there she was. In front of a house she hadn't seen in years, about to speak to people she hadn't spoken to in years. She sighed nervously and straightened her dress. "Come on."
Almost reluctantly Francis got out of her car. It wasn't that she didn't want to be there for her girlfriend. It was just that she didn't want to see Judy get hurt.

Lila sat alone at her table in The Cat's Ass. She sighed and looked around at all the young couples around her, mostly those of the same gender. While it was still a little strange for her, Lila was starting to feel her homophobia slip away. Her daughter was a lesbian, and so was her best friend. The only difference was, her best friend was a man who was about to undergo "the operation".
"Lila?" Turning at the sound of her name, she gasped at the sight before her.
"Otis?!"

"Great piece." Maggie came up behind her girlfriend and wrapped her arms around her. She closed her eyes, reveling in the feel of the other woman in her arms.
"Thanks." Kim smiled and turned around, instantly planting a kiss on Maggie's nose. She loved moments like this. Just her and Maggie, no one else, nothing else. She was just about to kiss her when the doorbell rang.
Maggie rushed off to answer it, leaving Kim alone in the room. Sighing, the blonde woman turned back to her painting, wondering what to add.
"Kim?!" Soon an angry woman's voice reached Kim's ears and she whirled around in shock. Standing at the doorway was her mother Casey, looking angrier than ever.
"Mom?!" The young dike gasped as she beheld the person before her. Standing behind her was a very surprised Maggie, who was twirling some of her hair around her finger, a nervous habit of hers. "I-I.." Kim continued, bewildered. "I haven't seen you since.. Since..."
"Since you were twelve!" Casey shouted, angrily. There was absolutely no relief to see her daughter evident in her face. Just anger and more anger. "Jesus Christ!" The almost stranger continued. "I wouldn't have left you if I knew you would turn out to be... to be... A DIKE! I would NEVER have raised a dike!"
Kim flinched as if she'd been smacked. Had she heard correctly?
"Excuse me?" She needed to make sure she *had* heard correctly. Clearly, she couldn't have.
