Explaining...
Evelyn and Rafe were at their home. They were quietly sitting at the living room; Evelyn was reading a book and Rafe a newspaper. Danny was upstairs asleep.
She had been restless, for some time now she had been so stressed she couldn't stand it. She had been crying herself to sleep for the passed couple of days. Everything was so confusing, she had spoken to Danny Walker a couple of days before; she had thanked him, and straightened things out. But then why can't she think straight?
You could feel the house's tenseness in every corner, you could feel that everyone in the house was nervous, and uneasy, even little Danny. She just sighed heavily. She felt a familiar touch in her shoulder, but it couldn't be, could it? She was scared stiff, but she managed to turn around. . .
And there he was, Danny, with his hula shirt and his sweet eyes. It was literally impossible, but he was actually standing there, and in that moment, everything else faded and the only people left was Danny and her. He cupped her pale face in his hand, and looked down at his shoes, "Evelyn, I wish I could turn back time, so that we could be together again. I'm sorry I went on the mission, Rafe was right, top secret is the kind of mission in which they send the medal to your relatives." She couldn't believe it, it was so wonderful to hear his voice again, but she was also frightened, she let some tears glisten in her eyes. He looked at her deep into her eyes "There is no one to blame for this, no one is guilty for my death. Except me, Evelyn, I knew I was gonna loose you, I knew it..." Her face was covered with tears of pain and sorrow, he continued talking "I...I guess I wanted to let that happen. Rafe, he, always protected me from everything, I knew you loved me more in that moment, when he came back, but Evelyn, you had loved him more before. I loved you with all my heart; I still do, but, we.... We just got together because of Rafe, because we were lonely...."
"But Danny, I did love you, I loved you..."
A single tear ran down his cheek "But Rafe loved you more...because of you, he managed to survive. You two were meant to be, I was not supposed to get in the way.... Evelyn, that's how it's supposed to be."
"Remember when you talked to me the other day, you said you were moving on! That you would let Rafe back into your life...I know that you love him, I know that he loves you, but then, I also know that you don't want to let me go! Please! Danny is gonna start walking in a couple of months. He's gonna sense something is wrong with his family, because you don't want to let go...Evelyn, you promised me, please just, let him get back into your life!!!" he cried. They hugged and her tears mixed with his own. She closed her eyes while holding him tightly to her chest..."Danny, I...I don't know if I can make it on my own..."
"You don't have to, you have Rafe...please...I know you can do it, I know it"
"Evelyn, Evelyn, wake up sweet..."
She opened her eyes again, Danny was gone and she was back to the couch, and to her family. Danny's words repeated in her mind *" I know that you love him, I know that he loves you, but then, I also know that you don't want to let me go! Please! Let him get back into your life!"
She smiled at Rafe, and he smiled back "Rafe, we need to talk"
He nodded "I know, Danny visited me too"
She cried, not sure from what exactly, but holding on to Rafe, she knew she was safe, and that Danny was right, in everything...
