Cowards

It was once said that,

'Cowards die many times before there death,

But the valiant taste death but once.'

Dose that mean that I'm a coward?

Everyone says that I'm a war hero and brave.

Many people I know are brave,

According to that saying though,

They are cowards, and so am I.

You see, a part of me dies,

Every time a friend dies.

The government says that this war will end soon.

I know better than that.

After making it to the rank of General,

You learn to not always trust the government.

I fear that soon I will be added to the list of dead.

A list all ready to long,

With the blood of young men and women.

After 20 long years of fighting,

Of loosing comrades, friends, enemies, innocents.

I'm getting too old to fight and live both.

It is not as bad now as it once was.

But still it is war.
