"You hit me with a jelly bean again and I'll kill you Sirius, I swear I will," yelled Lily Evans from under the shade of a large tree on the Hogwarts grounds.
"Oooo swearing isn't nice Lily." said an innocent looking Sirius Black who was now peering from behind a very large tree. Sirius and him had gone outside to study, but he had ended up ambushing people from behind trees, and throwing candy at people.
"Ha that's a laugh I thought you claimed..."
James stopped listening there and looked down at his paper where he was suppost to be writing a Potions essay. The professors had really laid on the homework now that OWLS were coming up. He eyes shifted to Lily, Oh god she's beautiful, he thought, any guy in his right mind would sell his soul to be with Lily. She wasn't just beautiful, though that's what might catch your eye at first, but when you came to know her you saw there was something really special about this girl. If her passion about everything from Women's Lib to ruby red lipstick didn't get you then it was the way her emerald eyes sparkled with intelligence and inner beauty when you talked to her. James was over the moon about her. He would give anything just to know if she liked him, no more than liked, he knew she liked him as a friend already, but more than that...
He remembered what Sirius had said the other day "she's dead gone on you, I'm serious man. More than half of Hogwarts main population would die if she let them scrape gum off her shoe." It was true you couldn't help but like-love Lily, but it was something more than that. He saw something inside her... James leaned back remembering the rest of what Sirius had said "half the girls in Hogwarts want to go out with you, James and she does too, I wouldn't tell you this if I wasn't 99% sure." "The other half wants to go out with you" he had said murmuring to himself...thinking. "Well if you don't tell her what you feel I will and that won't be a pretty sight."
Maybe he would talk to her today. He watched as she sighed and got up from her work and headed toward the common room door or portrait back rather. She was probably going to find her best friend, Gwen a pretty blond but she couldn't hold a candle to Lily no one could. He would write he a letter-yes-right now. He was good at writing him Mum wanted him to be an author like his uncle. She said his writing was as good as Mendler, but that was his Mother. Though he did have to admit it was pretty good. Just yesterday Professor Harpie, a little quirky witch who taught Ancient Runes had said his last essay was so beautiful it had made her want to cry. He took out some nice parchment and blue ink and started.
Lily
It's a little bit funny this feeling inside
I'm not one of those who can easily hide, but
My gift is my song and this one's for you.
And you can tell everybody, that this is your song
It may be quite simple, but no that it's done.
I hope you don't mind. I hope you don't mind
That I put down in words
How wonderful life is now that you're in the world.
I sat on grass and kicked of the moss
Well a few of the verses, well they've got me quite cross
But the sun's been quite kind while I wrote this song.
It's for people like you that keep it turned on.
So excuse me for dreaming, but these things I do
Anyway the thing is, what I really mean
Yours are the sweetest eyes I've ever seen.
And you can tell everybody that this is your song
I t may be quite simple but now that it's done.
I hope you don't mind. I hope you don't mind.
That I put down in words how wonderful life is now you're in world.
Lily, I have liked these past 5 years from the moment
I saw you I knew you were special.
I want to know if you think of me
as something more than a friend
Please owl me back.
James
