Tot sat on the picnic blanket, holding Rabbi-chan's arms and making the
stuffed bunny play-walk over to the picnic basket. "Rabbi-chan can talk,
he used to talk me."
Nagi cocked his head questioningly at the girl he was growing to love. Finally,
he asked, "What made Rabbi-chan talk?"
"Father. Father was a bad man. Father hurt Tot bad. Isn't that right, Rabbi-chan?
Rabbi-chan wanted to stop Father... But Father wasn't going to let him...
Uh uh, no way. Finally, Rabbi-chan said, 'Stop! Tot hurt!'"
"Really?" Nagi was interested. 'Wouldn't surprise me if it did talk. But nothing
can surprise me anymore... I can crush mansions with my mind... and we lived."
"Rabbi-chan and Tot talked all the time. After Father hit Tot a bunch, Rabbi-chan
told Tot how to stop Father."
"What did Rabbi say?"
"Rabbi-chan says, 'Tot stop Father easy. Um'rella stop Father. Um'rella stopped him.
Rabbi-chan was always right. Then Papa found me and my um'rella. Papa took Tot
and showed her how to stop bad men like Father. Then Weiß took away Papa and
Chen, and Pel, and Noi." (Author's note: That's how she pronounced Schreient's names)
