Skewed Dreams

A young girl, no more than six sat in a police car. Her frilly pink dress stained slightly with the
blood of the man she called Father. The coroner, police, and various other official adults swarmed
the house like carrion beasts. Naturally, no one believed the child was responsible. Hibino Nanami
was just a baby, a tot. Hibino Nanami was not capable of cold, calculated murder.

" 'Hey, Nanami-chan!' " Nanami made her bunny rabbit say, "Hello Rabbi-chan! Nanami-chan did good, ne? 'Nanami-chan did good!' "

"Miss Nanami?" A soft voiced social worker asked, leaning over and looking through the window.
"Hello!!! Who're you?"
"I'm Miss Fushijika from the Department of Social Services. Can I ask you a few questions?"
"As long as it isn't Math! I'm not too good at Math..."
The lady laughed, "Oh no, this isn't about math. Can you tell me what happened to your father?
Did you see anyone suspicious on the premises?"
"Oh, Father? He was a bad man. Rabbi-chan told me how to stop him. 'Yup, take the umbrella
and poke him.' That's what Rabbi-chan said. Nanami-chan poked him hard! Like a good girl!"
"Are you... saying... you did this?!" Fushijika turned fairly green, she stumbled back from the car
in horror.
"Rabbi-chan... she didn't seem too happy... Oh well!"

Tot awoke to the sounds of chittering squirrels and chirping birds, somewhere along the line
she had fallen asleep during their picnic. "Ne, Rabbi-chan... what a strange dream..."
