The Wings of Love
By Colorain
Disclaimer: You know the spiel. I don't own Moulin Rouge, I don't own Nicole Kidman or Ewan MacGregor (and I probably spelled that wrong, I know) or the Narcoleptic Argentinean or anybody-and the funniest thing is that they don't really factor into this poem. I also don't own the soundtrack. To be quite honest, I wrote this poem in a writing camp while listening to the soundtrack, so you should recognize some of the phrases. For a limited time only, read this poem and receive a bonus poem free! **Update!** I've added more on, so it should be easier to understand if you haven't seen Moulin Rouge. Help me do HTML on this, so I can make it even better! Please! Thanks.
I never knew
So many things
The life of stars
The flight of wings
That take us high
Away from here
A different place
To be so near
Your arms in mine
A new embrace
Hold me close
I see your face
Is etched with worry
What is wrong?
What makes you stop
Your joyful song?
Must we go?
Is someone coming?
What is it that
Keeps you running?
I'll run with you
You'll keep me sound
And though we hide
Our love surrounds
Our every thought
Our every word
My love flies
Just like a bird
I thought our love
Would let us be
Hidden away
Both you and me
Remembered not
Forgotten still
That let us endure
The strongest will
That would tear us
Apart again
But we lived
Take us then
To the love that lets
A certain way
Survive against
The dying day
I'll never be
The way you crave
That perfect girl
Who let you wave
Her away
For our hearts
Need to be
Separate parts
For us to live
And still to love
Independent yet same
The birds above
Fly away
As we fly too
A single breath
I love you
Thanks for reading! And now onto the bonus poem!
We do these things
Because we can
The fragile wings
That lift the man
From the earth
Flying free
Simple worth
Let it be
