Hello everyone.
Yesterday was Naruto's birthday and I hoped to have this chapter released by then - but that didn't work.
Also, I'll be now doing short-ish chapters as I really want to work now on the Impel Down Arc. And given the fact this is one of my favorite arcs to work on, I'll make sure to not exhaust myself on writing too long chapters.

After the delivery of Fire Fist Ace, Vice Admiral 'Gion' Momousagi was on deck of her Warship, going to her next destination, Enies Lobby, where she was ordered to supervise the reconstruction of the site that was still being rebuilt.
However, she had first stopped by Marineford for a couple of days to assist with the buildup of the inevitable confrontation that she knew was going to happen with Whitebeard, whose response to Ace's execution was still not given.
And that non-answer was the cause of so much panic, even among the highest-ranking Marines she knew.
"Vice Admiral," The marine captain saluted behind her, "We're nearing Enies Lobby' gate at this very moment."
"Good, we're on schedule," Gion ordered, "Inform them of our arrival."
"Yes, ma'am!" The captain saluted as he began to walk away, a young marine ran past the captain and towards the Vice Admiral with a piece of paper.
"Vice Admiral Momousagi!" The marine saluted, a bead of sweat rolling down his face, "We need to turn your ship back to Impel Down!"
Gion turned around confused. "Excuse me?"
"Marine, what's the meaning of this!?" The captain demanded, "Who gave you this order?!"
"Cipher Pol, sir!" The marine saluted him with a direct answer, "They did not give out the full information but they say that it's got to do with Naruto Uzumaki!"
The mentioning of that name alone prompted Gion to snatch the document out of the marine's hand, scanning it quickly.
*Crunch!*
Crumbing the paper into her hands, she shook her head and then turned to her men and gave the following orders.
"Turn this ship around, captain. We're going to Impel Down."
"Uhm, sure ma'am," The captain asked, confused. "But why?"
"Cipher Pol just discovered there's a spy in Impel Down impersonating a guard," Gion informed her subordinate.
"Who?"
The name Gion dropped was of one she just met a few days ago.
"Someone who's luck ran out."
Impel Down
While currently in the elevator, the transfer of Fire Fist Ace was being carried out by the personnel of Impel Down, including the blonde Head Jailer Domino.
Joined by Magellan and a few dozen guards, the woman happened to glance at the soon-to-be executed Portgas D. Ace. Who had been silent this whole time while in captivity, causing her to wonder if he was even physically okay.
She was lucky she was wearing the dark-tinted sunglasses worn by most guards as her eyes happened to stare at him for maybe too long when-

The ringing of the transponder snail that was in the elevator startled her, forcing her to pick it up.
"I'll get it." Domino said as she went for it. "Keep an eye on Portgas, he looks ill."
"You heard the lady," Magellan repeated to the guards, "Keep a close eye on him."
The guards saluted. "Yes, Sir!"
Magellan just looked at his female colleague as she then picked up the horn and answered the call.
"Head Jailer Domino here." The blonde woman spoke. "Who am I speaking with here?"
"Ma'am monitor room here. We've got a problem. There's something suspicious going on in Level 5, with multiple wolves spotted and taken out."
Magellan frowned and asked. "Where's that fool Hannyabal?"
"We're unable to locate him, sir. We need confirmation down there to see if everything's okay."
"Stop here."
"Hmm?" Magellan turned to her. "How so?"
"I'll handle it." Domino volunteered. "I'll gather a team and go check level 5. So drop me off here."
Nodding in agreement, the warden turned to the guard. "Stop it here."
*CLICK!*
The elevator stopped on level 4, the hot place nicknamed 'Pool of Blood' where the temperature was quite high as she stepped out once the gate were raised up.
"I'll see you upstairs, Domino, once you're done of course."
"Do not wait for me, warden. Just get the inmate upstairs." Domino told him as she walked out of the elevator. "Remember, we're on a tight schedule, so no bathroom breaks."
Magellan's face soured at that comment as the gate closed down as the elevator went slowly back upwards. Leaving her as she was seen walking.
The last thing Ace happened to see of her was her back, before his face descended back to the floor with his greasy unwashed hair falling down.
Level 6
Three days
Three long days, he had his eyes closed. For three nights he had stayed in silent meditation - without having even eaten, smoked, talked or even bothered to know what was going on around him. Unbothered by the fact he had an empty stomach, and unbothered by the fact he was still in Impel Down.
Naruto's mind had gone through those memories of Haran Bay and it still was an uneasy thought of going through them even from his own perspective, as he still had trouble coping with it in the years after it took place.
'Morning, kid. You missed a lot.'
"Morning, Kurama." Naruto said as he rubbed his eyes and exhaled slowly as he asked. "Please, enlighten me, what'd I miss?"
'Well for one, a couple of visitors, but mainly for Ace. Some of whom you might remember - that Gion woman, that monkey Garp, and even now the Pirate Empress Boa Hancock, believe it or not - who were here just a few hours ago.'
Hearing those names, Naruto just shrugged it off as he then asked. "Anything else?"
'Perhaps Jimbei can inform you better. He's been wondering why you're being so quiet these past few days. But check out your surroundings first. Something's strange has been happening lately.'
Looking out his cell, Naruto noticed that indeed something was up, seeing that it was surprisingly quiet.
"Jimbei, are you there?"
"I'm here Naruto, but keep your voice down." Jimbei's voice responded with a warning. "Something's going on in here."
"Why?" Naruto asked up as he got back on his feet. "What's happening?"
"You will not believe it but just when Ace was being brought up, his supposed brother arrived here." Jimbei told him about what happened only moments ago in front of him. "They just ran to the elevator."
BOOM!
The sound of something falling caused some of the other inmates to waken up and speak.
"What was that?"
"Looks like those morons who escaped tried to climb the elevator ropes." One of the older inmates guessed. "Idiots, by now Hannyabal must've ordered it to be cut off."
Listening on those conversations, Naruto intentionally kept his face in the shadows so he wouldn't be recognized or even being spotted, but his luck perhaps ran out when-
"Hey, look. There's someone in that cell."
"Which one?"
"The one right behind that Warlord Jimbei's cell."
"There's someone in there? Thought it was empty."
Slowly word spread out across the whole of level 6, but mainly to those who were bothered to speak as there were some who just listened.
"Yeah, I saw the Head Jailer put some food there once in a while, odd to have never seen this guy." The one who spoke earlier than looked closer and noticed the chest.
Not seen wearing his military top or uniform in general, the burn patterns and scars were very noticeable on the unknown inmate, but what he did see were the tattoos: the Nine-Tailed one on his arm, the symbolized leaf on his shoulder and the seal drawings on the stomach that were plainly visible.
But the one that caught the attention was the on the chest - where a skull with a dagger clenched into its teeth was seen with the words that were written underneath, and once read, caused the inmate to shout-
"No fucking way - that guy's Alabasta Foreign Legion!"
"Bullshit!"
"He's got the tattoo on his chest!" The inmate shouted, "With the skull and knife, I swear!"
Then like a swarm of animals, the inmates close by rushed to the bars to take a glimpse, with many questions being asked all at once, making it unbearable to understand.
"Now look who's being noticed now…" Jimbei was heard saying. "Only a matter of time now before one of them rat you out to the guards."
"Well, now it looks like we have no choice but to break out." Naruto said as he turned to Jimbei and asked. "What do you think, wanna join?"
"Breaking out of Impel Down with just the two of us?"
BANG!
Another sound of something falling caused everyone to be quiet, making the silence now even more scary once another sound entered.
*PSHHHHHHHH!*
Light colored smoke was seen seething through the air, causing to then suddenly the other inmates across the block to fall down on the floor, causing some panic among the still standing prisoners.
"It's poison gas!"
'Idiots, it's sleeping gas!' Kurama remarked, clearly irritated. 'Check the damn pulse for once!'
"Ease up, furball, ease up!" Naruto spat, pressing a small piece of cloth against his nose and mouth as he watched. "They just don't know."
'Don't call me furball, kid. And why are you putting that piss-covered cloth on your nose? You know I can cancel those chemicals in a moment, and this ain't the first time they've used it.'
"Guess it's just a force of habit," Naruto said before he turned to Jimbei's cell and asked. "Hey-"
"I'm still awake, no worries," Jimbei told him. "I'm not affected by this mere gas."
Only mere moments later the gas started to disperse, after only a minute or so it looked like it was disintegrating.
"Come on! It's time to start thinking of ourselves!"
Hearing three different sets of footsteps, Naruto heard the reason for the subsiding sleeping gas as he caught the sudden appearance of three weirdly looking individuals that stood out. They were neither inmates of Impel Down, nor even guards, and it was the big person who was seen speaking, a recognizable face for the young Uzumaki.
"Emporio Ivankov."
"Hmm, that's him?" Jimbei asked while observing the three who now had returned. "How do you know, you can't even see him!"
"I recognize that voice from a mile long." Naruto mentioned. "Also, better not call him a 'him'."
"How so?" Jimbei asked curiously, "There a problem?"
"Ivankov's a strange person but not one to trifle with - there's a reason why this person is a known Revolutionary commander under Dragon."
"The first step is your escape!" Ivankov said to one of the other escapees while pacing back and forth, "I promise I'll do my very best to break you out of this prison safely. As far as Ace boy and the Navy goes, that ship has already sailed. Literally. Give up on him, okay?"
By the sound of it, they weren't going to be the only ones trying to take their leave out of Impel Down, but some compromise could be figured out from it.
"Or would you rather put your faith in Whitebeard? There's no way he'll give up on one of his own. He'll come up with something."
….
A long silence permeated the air before a response was given.
"I'm leaving."
Two gasps followed the unexpected voice. The voice was not done replying to Ivankov's suggestions as he had already made up his mind.
"I am going to Marineford."
"DON'T BE STUPID! A massive battle is about to take place between the two most powerful forces in the entire world!" exclaimed a surprised Ivankov, "Don't you have any idea how strong Whitebeard is? How about all the Admirals, Vice Admirals, and the Warlords on the Navy's side? Remember them? And are you also forgetting how close to death you were after the fight with Magellan? HAVE YOU THAT MANY LIVES TO SPARE!?"
….
No response was given directly, causing Ivankov to question further.
"What is it!?"
"Look. If I give up now, I'll regret it!"
The determination in that voice made the old Fox comment to his holder.
'Hey kid. The one that Ivankov's speaking to. He's giving me some of those same vibes you give me.'
'How so?'
'I don't sense him lying about going to Marineford. He's either got no brains in that head of his, or he's got the same determination as you. Either way, he's not backing off.'
*Click* *Click* *Click* *Click*
The sound of clicking heels of boots caused the three escapees to turn around and find Head Jailer Domino carrying a couple of scrolls in her hand, unfazed yet caught by surprised by the presence of the three people standing in the same hallway as her.
Ivankov stared at her with no shortage of rancor. "Domino?"
Domino's answer was just as terse. "Ivankov."
"You know her?" Luffy asked.
"We met during the Elemental Wars, boy." answered the pirate, "Only question is, why is she here?"
"I'm the Head Jailer here….or was," Domino mentioned as she raised the subject. "Short story; my cover's blown and I am freeing him."
"Freeing who?" Inazuma questioned. "And what are those scrolls for?"
Domino fished a ring of keys from her pocket, with a smug grin on her face. "You'll see." She turned to the door and put the key into the lock as she unlocked it.
*CLICK!*
The three watched as the door was getting opened slowly by Domino who was looking at the person inside of it.
"I'm sorry, captain. But-"
"No need to apologize, Domino. You did what you could."
That voice made Ivankov's eyes widen, her jaw slamming into the floor in pure shock. She had no idea that Domino was a double-agent, but that voice she just heard coming from that cell caught the Okama totally off guard.
"T-T-That voice… Impossible! He's supposed to be dead!"
Inazuma however had a calmer reaction while holding his glass of wine.
"Looks like he really did survive that ambush."
Luffy on the other hand was just confused about what everyone was talking about, and watched as the female guard allowed the prisoner to walk out.
Walking out of the shadows, his exposed chest with numerous tattoos, a pair of preserved boots as the man was seen wearing khaki military pants with a shirt he put over himself. With the visible scars seen being covered, the man turned his face to Domino and accepted the scrolls.
"Thank you." Naruto thanked the female guard as he then turned around to the three persons on the opposite side, only mere meters away.
Naruto faced off the three and recognized by sight both Ivankov and Inazuma who both were recognizable faces, but it was the third person that caught his eye. The young black haired teenager with the shorts, sandals, yellow sleeveless shirt and straw hat - and it was that hat that reminded him.
"You must be Straw Hat Luffy," Naruto began with the following question. "So you must be Ace's little brother, right?"
Luffy nodded and replied. "That's right, and I plan on saving him. Why? Do you know him?"
"Of course I know him, we sailed for a time." Naruto responded to him. "I'll be up to talk to you about him, but I think we got other priorities on hand, like getting out of here. Won't you agree?"
Inazuma interjected. "Even so, how do you suggest we can get out of this floor?"
"Hahahahaha!"
The laughter happened to come from yet another cell that had only one person visibly in it.
"I should've figured it out you were hiding here - You're not for nothing the 'Undying Menace' Naruto Uzumaki."
Naruto scoffed a bit, but then replied. "Nice to see you too."
Revealing himself by stepping out of the shadows, showing to be in the black-white prison uniform with his hook that looked cleaned and taken care of. With a smirk that didn't escape his stitched head and the shackles containing him.
Luffy began to realize who it was inside that cell and saw it was the first Warlord he beat in his journey through the Grand Line - Crocodile.
"Crocodile!" Luffy angrily said his name while glaring at him. Only causing Crocodile to then smile back.
But the cigar-loving man turned his sights back to Naruto and spoke. "I can only assume you're up for escaping now that your friend jailer is exposed."
Domino asked. "How do you know, Crocodile?"
"Doesn't matter - By now, everyone in Impel Down will know you'll be here. And no doubt the warden will be trying to get down here now." Crocodile set everything in a row and suggested. "So why not getting me out of these cuffs? I can create a hole through this dump and bust us out of here."
"No way, forget it!" Luffy shouted out in protest. "Not after what you've done to-"
"Deal." Naruto agreed right on the spot.
The other four however - pretty much had the same reactions.
"HUH?"
Crocodile smiled. "Good to know. I knew I could count on you-"
"Don't set your hopes high up, Crocodile. I warn you." Naruto stated clearly, as went further. "I haven't forgotten about what I read - what you did in Alabasta…"
And suddenly, the whole room felt - heavy. Especially mentally as the others around Naruto felt a bit overwhelmed by the sudden surge of power that was slipping out in large.
And it were the surrounding prisoners, the silent spectators to the whole thing that were unable to cope with it and began fainting or struggling.
"W-What's this power…"
"Why do I feel….weak."
"Huh?" Luffy looked around in confusion, seeing that in the other cells that inmates were dropping down to the floor fast, causing him to wonder what was happening and turned to Ivankov.
"Iva, what-"
"That my boy is Killer Intent…that's what they call it in the Shinobi Continent, but in these fine seas, it's known as Haki," Ivankov explained to him as he crossed his arms. "And before you ask, it's Naruto boy who's using it - sending a message to Croco-boy over there."
Domino was trying to not look bothered by it, even when she was clearly seen struggling with this power, making Inazuma turn a watchful eye over her.
Meanwhile, the stare off between Naruto and Crocodile just reached its ending point with the former Warlord:
Unbothered by it, he spoke. "That power….you haven't used that since we were in Suna."
"Then you know what I am capable of, right?" Naruto said with an unchanged frown. "Because I know for certain you're doing this for a reason."
"No, that it is not." Crocodile said, his chin lifted smugly, "I heard Whitebeard is going to war, so I thought I'd take this opportunity to take care of some old unfinished business."
"Even when the chances don't favor you, right?" Naruto asked as he narrowed. "You know that old man ain't easy to take down, yet you want to risk that shot?"
At this, Crocodile gave a genuine chuckle of his own and replied. "Sure, but where's the fun in that without some measure of risk?"
…
Naruto nodded after small consideration, coming to an answer after five seconds of silence.
"Alright, we got a deal."
"WHAAAT!" Luffy tried to say. "But-"
"I'll keep an eye on him, Straw boy, no need to worry." Ivankov said, trying to ease Luffy's worries down as he smiled, "I can handle him, just like old times, right?"
The sight of Ivankov himself caused Crocodile to frown deeply before he regained his composure. There was certainly some old history between the two of them, one that was best left unsaid.
"Domino, release Crocodile here from his shackles," Naruto asked her. "He'll be joining us."
The guard in question pushed down all disdain for the idea, and grabbed her keys to open the door and then proceeded to unlock those shackles also.
"What about me?"
That came from the back, none other than Jimbei who spoke from his cell as Naruto could see the Fishman was growing impatient from being sidelined for a moment.
"Mind getting rid of these shackles already?" Jimbei asked as he was tied down still. "I'd like to move. And if you are going to save Ace - then at least let me join you in it."
Inazuma however wondered and turned to Naruto. "Are you sure-"
"Let him out." Luffy decided already, having already made the decision in Naruto's place.
"Huh?" Inazuma looked at him. "Are you sure? He's dangerous."
Luffy nodded as he happened to stare at Jimbei, who for some reason made eye contact with him - both focused on one another as Domino was already seen going for the Fishman's shackles.
"There you go."
*CLING!*
*CLING!*
Both shackles dropped to the ground as both Jimbei and Crocodile walked out of their cells as they now joined the group that started out of three, now with seven in total - with two former Warlords. Two with different mindset and morals that normally would clash the moment they were given the chance.
"Now that we're all set - let's get out of this dump!" Ivankov suggested, smiling triumphantly, "But first, a short stop cannot hurt."
Moments later
The staircase entrance to Level 6 that was sealed up by Inazuma's scissor powers.
*BOOM!*
"Now that closed up entrance was blown up with explosives as the first teams of Impel Down guards had breached it.
"You all have your orders!" One of the men left the hole with a gas mask. "Search the area for them - and detain Head Jailer Domino at once!"
The squad got into formation, with their specialized weapons tailor-made to combat Devil Fruit users, they were prepared for anything.
But the first one to look up was shocked by what he had discovered.
A hole was in the ceiling with a circular-like staircase that led towards the end of it. Causing shocked reactions from the unprepared guards. Not all of them were totally unprepared - well, an unofficial one who happened to be locked up - a strong one who had witnessed everything and just muttered.
"You fools."
In the surveillance room up in the Monitor Room, where the vice-warden Hannyabal was waiting for updates from the teams who had breached Level 6 to catch Straw Hat and two accomplices.
The loose-lipped Pharaoh dressed man was in a state of worry, for a pretty good reason for what had just happened. Only hours ago he was found tied up by some of his guards as he got deceived and jumped by one of the escaped inmates who took him by surprise.
Now he was trying to get the situation under control with having Straw Hat trapped in Level 6. He now also was tasked with the sudden arrest of one of their own.
"Are we seriously doing this?" One of the guards watching the monitor asked. "Arresting the head jailer, I mean."
"I don't know, just follow orders."
"But it feels weird, we've been working with Domino for years now-"
Hannyabal turned to the guard and then asked. "Any update from Level 6?"
"No sir, nothing at the moment." The first guard told him while waiting for a response. "They are searching the area."
"Good, good. That leaves my plan to secure level 6 to no problems. Hannyabal stated. "And it will only leave the warden with guilt - damn it, I did it again."
The second guard watching the monitors only shook his head at the vice warden's words, it was nothing new to him.
"Monitor Room! Assault Team to Monitor Room!"
The shouting came from the transponder snail shouted of the team on Level 6, and it was that of a distressing tone.
Hannyabal responded. "What is it? You caught them already? That'll certainly get me that promotion-"
"Both Jimbei and Crocodile have been released from their cells and they managed to escape from us, sir!"
Hannyabal's jaw hit the floor. "WHAT!?"
"Not only that, there is another development! Something you won't believe!"
"Please, I already have five criminals walking around with that traitor Domino!" Hannyabal stressed out with his hand on the table. "What more bad news can you give?"
"Well…. Domino has also released a third person, someone you will not believe was in here."
Level 1
As Portgas D. Ace's escort fleet was already on route, the unexpected arrival of Vice Admiral Momousagi had caught warden Magellan by surprise. But the news was what got him.
Both were walking down the stairs as the elevator was almost done with its repairs, Magellan's shock was visible taking this news hard.
"Are you certain?" The poison man asked, gritting his teeth. "Is this information valid?"
Gion replied and nodded. "The information came directly from Cipher Pol - so yes, it's confirmed that Head Jailer Domino is actually a spy."
*Grip!*
The black gloves of the warden could be heard as the fists of Magellan were clearly seen shaking in anger, something that the Vice Admiral herself could understand.
"My apologies for this, warden Magellan." Gion genuinely pleaded. "It must be hard."
"Not as hard as it will be once I have to put her in cuffs." Magellan said as he groaned at this and raised his chest up. "I'll be the one to perform the arrest, allow me please."
"I see no problem with that." Gion agreed but then added. "But you will know the moment she's in my custody, I'll bring her over for interrogation at Enies Lobby, right?"
"Is that really necessary?" Magellan questioned. "We can keep her jailed, under our supervision."
"Cipher Pol is not taking any risks-," Gion responded. "And all for the better, you might not want to hear a peep about that enhanced interrogation they're known for."
Even a flinch could be seen appearing on Magellan's face, as he heard of the practices that the Cipher Pol agents were known for that make the punishments in Impel Down look easy to handle.
"Anyway, I need your help to also secure a couple of prisoners that are connected to her." Gion worded as she had gotten a few instructions that she best followed. "They're to be brought in also for interrogation, they are the same ones you showed me a few days ago."
Magellan responded. "They're still in their cells down Level 2 and 4 so-"
"Warden Magellan."
The two turned around to find one of the guards was seen approaching them, with a snail transponder in his hand as the guard looked he had run a long way.
"Sir, breakout in Level 6 - Straw Hat managed to escape!" The guard exclaimed-, "He broke both Jimbei and Crocodile out of prison with the two Revolutionaries Ivankov and Inazuma."
"Was Domino responsible for this?" Magellan asked.
"Yes, sir, but that's not all," The guard spoke with fear on his face, "She apparently freed an unofficial inmate we had…"
Both Gion and Magellan were befuddled at what made the guard so nervous. Magellan was the first to speak, his patience having already run out. "Spit it out, man! What could be worse!?"
Meanwhile
Level 5.5
Now in the supply room where all the stolen food, medicine and equipment the Okama managed to get from Impel Down, there were some busy preparing themselves.
*TCHK!*
Crocodile was already one of those who was finished, smoking one of his cigars as he wore the same clothes he'd come in with shortly after his arrest in Alabasta. As he waited for the others, he took a moment to allow his shoes to be shined by one of Ivankov's people.
Speaking off, Ivankov-
"EMPORIO ENERGY HORMONE!"
With his purple gloves nails, the Okama punched the energy into the exhausted and wounded body of Mr. 2, otherwise known as Bon Clay….by injecting it right into the holiest place of all men.
"Oh…. Right in the jimmies."
Crocodile sighed exasperatedly at what he saw. "You really haven't changed much, Ivankov. Going for the groin as usual."
"Enough talk, let's go!" Luffy turned around and noticed something. "Hmm, hey, where are Naruto and that lady?"
"They went ahead." Jimbei was the one who responded to that question. "They wanted to be alone for a moment."
"So where are they?"
Level 5
As the cold winter wind was waving through the Freezing Hell of Level 5, with endless snow and unbearable cold to the inexperienced man, there stood however one person in the middle of that chilling cold.
The wolves stood there, their white fur contrasted against vicious looks in their eyes that accounted for their behavior, yet they however stood far away from this lone person, as they sensed this was no easy prey.
Naruto stood there, with his boots inches deep in the thick layers of snow, now wearing nothing for the winter - he instead wore a mish-mash of brown khaki military pants and a green flat jacket with the two scrolls attached behind it on his back. As he also was seen wearing his belt with his revolver holstered in it. Locked and loaded.
But also on his back, sealed into those scrolls, laid his two blades that he still used - his Tantō and Katana, both still in good condition and sharpened, ready and clean for what was about to come. And wearing on his head, he changed to his black headband that was tight-knit around his forehead.
He was soon joined by Domino, equipped with a pistol on her side while standing beside.
"If we're going to break out of this dump we'll need some serious backup," Naruto noted thoughtfully, "Domino, you said some of my old crew's here?"
"Yes, a few lieutenants and a few others," Domino told him, "They're on levels 4 and 2, but they keep your most trusted lieutenant up to the next level."
Naruto asked. "He's still there?"
"He is," Domino confirmed, "Struggling, but still breathing."
The two stood there and stared upwards to the ceiling. The white snow brought back old memories that were forced to be pushed to the back of their minds with the next words Naruto uttered.
"Let's get down to business."
