I Love You

I sit in the chair
What's flooding me is despair
How do I tell him how I feel
Will he know that I am for real

I take a step towards him
That fool, he's humming church hymns
I start to smile
I listen for a while

He notices me standing there
I don't stand out, unlike his braided hair
Those violet orbs staring
I start to blush, he's very caring

He asks me how I am feeling today
"You had a bad fall, you've been asleep for days"
Though I am not, I tell him I'm fine
He sees through my lie, and begins to cry

"I was worried about you
To see your body askew"
That's what he said
He must have been the one to put me to bed

"Hilde, I love you. Always have, always will"
My mouth falls open as if I was about to take a pill
I thought my life was going to hell
Then he said 'I love you' and now I hear a bell

I jump in his arms
His embrace is warm
"I love you too" I manage to say
And in his arms is where I spent the rest of day.
