The Ties that Bind
It is said that no bond is greater than the connection between identical twins. When Kenji and
Tenshi are abducted by the universe of the four gods to save the empire of Kuto, the girls must
choose to fight against each other, or be forever enslaved by the story. Only war and love can
break the ties that bind the sisters.
Tenshi took the long way home from school every afternoon, savoring the vivid color and
sweet smell of autumn. A hand clamped down on her shoulder,"Boo!"
Knowing who it was, She whirled around to hug her older sister.
"Kenji!!" She giggled, letting go. Kenji was older than her by a few minuted. The two
were identical, looking like to same person at different ages. (Tenshi was smaller and less
developed than her older sister.) Both had light wheat- gold hair pulled into two buns on either
side of her head, and dark blue eyes. The only difference between the two was their personality.
A package waited for them on the front doorstep. Tenshi was the first to point it out. She
picked it up, realizing that there was no return address on it. Just the girls' names and the words
Hiyakuu, Seiryuu no miko. Hiyakuu. Kenji snatched the book away.
"Hurry?" she read, "Priestess of Seiryuu??"
"What is it, Kenji?"
Kenji tore off the wrapping and unsheathed a faded navy blue book. Some old
glyphs were scratched on the cover but Tenshi couldn't make them out.
"What's that? It looks like bug- footprints!" Tenshi giggled looking over her
sister's shoulder.
Kenji muttered, "Hyroglyphics..."
Tenshi made a face "Hyro- crickets?"
"No, genius. It looks like a piece of old Chinese literature. The New Universe."
"Kenji, That's Amazing! I never knew you could read old cricket prints!"
Kenji sighed. She leafed through the pages, a confused expression slowly
appearing. "That's strange... there don't seem to be any words in this book at all... just this
paragraph in the begining:
This is the story of a girl who made her dreams come true, when she came to
posess the seven holy stars of Seiryuu and many powers were bestowed upon her. The
story it's self is a spell. The one who reads it through will be given the powers and
granted a wish just like the girl in the story. For, the story begins and becomes real the
moment the first page is turned.
The rest of the pages are all blank... there's not another thing written here." She
said, disappointed, and turned the page.
What do you thing it means, Ane-san?" Tenshi said. Just as a blinding light
radiated from the book and all went dark.
Kenji blinked. Her vision was blurred, as well as her memory. A blue light filled
her mind. She blinked once again and sat up. slowly her eyes focused. Tenshi was lying
on the ground eyes closed, mouth open, drooling. She flicked her shoulder. "Hey kid..
wake up."
Tenshi blinked. "What the-" she wiped her mouth on her sleeve. "What's going
on?"
They looked around, noticing they couldn't be anywhere near home anymore. In
all directions were lush, green plants and briliant orchids. A wooden sign was hanging in
an archway. Kenji read aloud, "In the private garden of the royal handmaidens, those who
trespass are punishable by severe means."
"And that's a bad thing, right kenji?" Tenshi said, sitting up.
"Yeah...We're outa' here..." Kenji said. They stood up to start running when a
hand came down on Tenshi's shoulder. Too late...
