Disclaimer I own Anna, and that's about it. Everything else belongs to J K Rowling, the woman who has got me through the summer holidays without getting bored at all so far.

Author's Note So! You're reading my ickle story! I'm honoured! Well, actually I should get some things cleared up first:

  • This is not going to be an ickle story. Ooh no...I'm intending to make it about 10 long-ish chapters at the moment, and then I'm thinking about sequels...muahahahaaaa!
  • For those of you who read the first version of Sirius Black & the Prisoner of Azkaban, if you review this story (which I really hope you do!) then please don't give anything away to other readers! I've changed a few of the crucial moments in the fic, but the main plotline is the same
  • This is a big hint to get you to review my story! Even if it's criticism, that only helps me to make the next chapter better.
  • I'm looking for a beta-reader for this. If you would like to have this job then either tell me so in a review, or e-mail me.
  • Alright well that's about it for now...read on dear friends!

    Chapter One

    By Arianwen Lupin

"I can not believe you did that to me!" I screamed across the room at Dumbledore and Snape, who was smirking in the corner. "You think I got caught on purpose? Me? Me? My father's daughter get caught on purpose?! We had a plan. Then you came along and ruined it by rescuing me. What on earth did you do that for?!"

I sank back onto a chair and shook my head, tears coming too easily. "I don't have anything left now. At least I used to have something. Now even my family is after my blood."

"We'll be your new family, Anna," Dumbledore replied, "And we'll be far better than your old one."

I looked up at him in disgust. "You? Be my family? You are the people who placed me in purgatory as a tiny child! I wasn't even allowed to come to Hogwarts, though I was far more magical than a load of them who went in my year. You made me suffer for something that I couldn't help." I was laughing now, a mixture of disbelief and sheer terror at what life held for me in the future, "And then you offer to be my family? No thank you. I'm outta here."

I got up and made for my cloak, which had been discarded on the floor. Dumbledore held me back gently.

"I can not apologise enough for what I put you through," he whispered, "But I would like to make amends. Consider, Anna, not even your father will want you back now. He would as soon kill you as look at you. I know it is hard to accept this, but you must, or face being destroyed by your un-willingness to believe what is true."

"If you hadn't come barging into the trial, he would never had needed to know!" I snapped, making an un-successful grab for my cloak. Snape walked casually over to it and picked it up, holding it just out of my reach. I turned on him next,

"And you! You slimy traitor! You deserve to be drowned in your own gel!"

"Tut tut, Anna," Snape replied, his smirk widening, "You're a traitor too, remember. We're the same now."

"We'll..." I began, but at that moment the door opened, and the one person who I wanted to see hurried in. "Albus, when I heard...thank God she's safe...Anna..."

And as Sirius gave me the most bone-breaking bear hug, I found myself beginning to cry. For all the life I had taken, and all the life that had been taken from me.

I know this chapter's pretty short, but I really need a beta-reader before I carry on! Any volunteers?
