The song echoes through the cathedral, the lights dim. Many people had come to say their final farewells to the young firefly, the one they called Hotaru. Every heart saddened to her death. But the ones who were saddened the most were the senshi. Each one had come as well, even Sailorpluto, whom had to leave the Gates of Time guarded by another.
Hotaru, or Sailorsaturn, had sacrificed her life three days ago. The only way to save the planet was to use her power, which would kill her in the process. Sailormoon had begged her not to, and maybe they would find another way. Sailorsaturn had only replied to everyone with one last word...
"Goodbye, everyone. May you all be together still."
Now, she lay in a black coffin, lined with gold. They never had the heart to keep Hotaru's death from everyone else that knew her. They were told that she had died of a sickness, and attended her funeral. Usagi cried, her heart broken. Even Haruka, who was the strongest of both the Inner and Outer Senshi, had cried. The one who was saddened the most was Chibi-usa, angry that her best friend was gone forever.
"Why can't you come back, Hotaru? Just like all the other times..."
"She can't come back, Chibi-usa..." said Michiru in a melacholic tone.
And gumdrops and Saturdays...
Everyone glanced at the young senshi for the last time as the cover to the coffin was placed. It was taken outside, near a tree where it seemed fireflies would fly constantly in the summer. Chibi-usa watched it being layed in the ground, them buried.
"Small Lady, she may not be here anymore for us to see, but she is within our hearts for eternity." said Setsuna.
"I know, Puu. She'll always be with us."
As everyone turned to walk back in, Chibi-usa still stood. She placed a small rose on the tombstone.
"Goodbye, Hotaru...I'll see you again someday."
And with that, she walked away.
