This is an off-shoot of The Light Among Shadows. Originally this was meant to be a stand-alone, but as it's gone on, it does intersect with my other fic. I do try to keep it separate enough that you don't have to read both, but they do read better together. You may have read the beginning of this story over the winter break last year. I promised to clean up the rough editing before putting it back up... but instead, it turned into a remix.
